What are you willing to give up (1 Viewer)

Example#1 You have LT, but were unable to get M. Turner in the draft. The Chargers are looking great even if they have played some terrible teams. The running game is solid and Turner is looking good. What(who) would you be willing to give up for peace of mind in case LT went down.

Same question...you have Tiki. Rumors are swirling about a possible injury. Jacobs is running strong. What would you be willing to give up to get Jacobs?

Every year it seems that a great RB goes down. In Last years draft "sharks" jumped on LJ...some early, some for a steal. I grabbed him for a steal while the Priest owner was sleeping. This year it seemed like people were looking for the "next LJ" and were grabbing backups like Turner and Jacobs way too early as non owners of LT and Tiki.

Has anyone tried to trade for either of these guys...or similar ones? What are you offering? What are their owners asking for?

I have LT, and was unable to secure Turner in the draft. The owner that has him typically does this every year, drafts everyone's handcuff way to early. I would love to have Turner, but I won't give up much for him. A player along the lines of Travis Henry, or my 4th or 5th WR.

Even in a redraft league you would have to give up more than that. In a dynasty league you aren't even in the same galaxy.

OK fine....well you sit on Turner then. LT has no history of injury. I'm offering Travis Henry to a owner who starts Chris Brown. More than fair IMO, if you want to play with your paper RB go right ahead.

No way a MT owner would give him up for that.On paper it's a bench guy for a bench guy, but in reality it's a guy who's one ligament away from carrying somebody to a championship v. a guy they would probably never start for an FF team.

I'm not going to lie and say I wouldn't REALLY like to get my handcuff. But I'm not trading away a starting caliber player for him. Currently his demands are either Donald Driver, or Roy Williams, and that's way way too much.

That is too much, but Travis Henry is also too little. The answer lies somewhere in between.

we have very limited rosters, and turner is a free agent. i would need to drop rhodes or mbell to pick up turner. i'm considering it.

In one my drafts, I had LJ and another guy had LT. The LT owner drafted Michael Bennett out from under me so I immediately drafted Turner and sat back and smiled and waited. After Turner showed what he could do in week 1, I got the Bennett for Turner offer I was waiting for and gladly made the trade. I know Turner is far better than Bennett but I felt like the peace of mind was worth the difference. Otherwise, we would each be left with the other guy's lottery ticket.

LT owner in a dyansty leaguei traded Anderson for Turner in the off seasonI think that was a steal

Depends on who you have at RB3. If you have a solid starter that you could plug in if your RB1 goes down, then the handcuff is likely worth less to you than if you don't have a third starter in case of emergency.

Coincidentally, this is exactly my situation. I've proposed Henry for Turner to the C.Brown/Turner owner. No dice so far. I don't think it'll fly unless Henry is really given the starting job.I don't think it's a good play to reduce starting lineup strength to grab a handcuff, so for now I'm just sitting pat.

One of my leagues is only 10 teams. We are short on roster space...only 14 players. No room to carry extra guys for bye weeks(K,TE,DST). In a sense I would hate to use a roster space on a handcuff, but that particular handcuff(LT-Turner) is pretty strong. I have 5 very solid WR's and we can only start 2, so I am thinking about offering one of them for Turner. The concern about that has more to do with making someone else's roster stronger just so that I have some peace of mind. I was actually quite surprised that they went so early in this small league. That they went in the draft at all is somewhat surprising. Like I said in the OP, I think people are desperate to find this years LJ.
