I've been here for several years, and it seems this year more than ever people are posting more comments about people posting comments about their teams.

I see more "no one cares about your team" posts than I ever have.

In fact I think I only started seeing these come up this year.

So which bugs you more?

Someone posting in a Colston injury thread:

"Man that Colston injury is killing me I now have to choose between Keyshawn and Lee Evans"

OR

Someone replying:

"Great!!! Let us know what you decide, cause we all know how inportant your team is to everyone"

I personally do not mind them.

I like hearing how other people are handling their teams, and evaulating other players.

things that bug me in the shark pool

wdis, thinly veiled wdis, intentionally pissing in the pool (H.K and his fishing trips).

how about this thread from this morning

Listen, its playoff time so I don't want to hear any from the WDIS police.

I know Chad has been awesome these last few weeks, but I have a very viable option in Andre Johnson against a fairly week Titan defense this week. There is no tomorrow any more so I want to choose wisely.

Like last week, I am leaning towards starting Chad, but there can be no doubt that Oakland's defense is very stout against the pass and equally soft against the run. I am VERY worried that Cincy will do like everyone else and just pound the run down Oakland's throat.

I have already decided to start D-Jax as my other WR, and am toiling over which Johnson to start. The Titans didn't exactly stop the Colts last week and their passing defense isn't nearly as good as Oakland's.

So, will I be burned at the stake if I sit Chad in favor of Andre?

People complaining about people complaining about WDIS. ;)

Finally, you caught me...Yes I am fishing.Fishing for peoples thoughts on this topic.Starting a topic on what someone should do is another story.Someone commenting on their teams situation, in a thread is what I don't mind.Just wanted to see how everyone felt about it

The results of this poll are killing me! On my main money league, we have a similar poll, but obviously it has only 12 people voting. I will keep you all posted on how it turns out.

That is INCORRECT. The ENTIRE shark pool NEEDS to know ALL about EVERY PLAYER on ALL of MY fantasy teams.

Great!!! Let us know the results of this poll cause we all REALLY care about you and your league.....

It doesn't bother me that much, except for Sunday morning threads when time is limited and would rather read relevant (and not superfluous) information.

ETA: I don't mind the snide comments, as perhaps it will send across the message to limit the "what it means for me" threads.

Threads and topics which I find annoying.

-What do you need on Monday night threads

-Post your 13-0 team

-I am leading the league in points but have a losing record

-Injuries are killing my team - Woe is me

-I would have won if I started whoever

-Rank my team

-WDIS

-Basically anything when you comment on your own team

My idea of the Shark Pool is to provide info which applies to everyone and info to help manage your team in the most efficient manner. I don't care about your team at all. With thousands of leagues and millions of teams, why do people think I will care about their specific team. If everyone started posting about their individual teams, then it becomes a useless forum and you lose what seperates the Shark Pool from all the other forums. The boards which have full pages of threads with topics such as asking if Harrison for Ronnie Brown is a good trade. The Shark Pool is to discuss/debate general information regarding fantasy football and the NFL.

These types of threads come out in the regular season, and tt is one of the reasons why this forum is much better in the offseason.

Its a fine line for me.

When a team is saying "I'm screwed because Player X is hurt and my only other option is player Y or Z" that has no value to anyone. People coming behind them and complaining about the bad post has even less value.

I do however find value when someone expresses their problem then discusses strategies or options that he/she is considering to mitigate the situation, especially when they include the why.

What bothers me most about the Pool this year is all of the jack-###e$ ridiculing others because of their league setup or who is available on their waiver wire. If I am in a league where Cedric Benson is on the waiver wire that does not automatically mean that I suck, that I am a guppy, or that my league is a joke. It just means that for some reason Cedric Benson is available.

I went with A. People commenting about their team. My reasoning is that if you did not have option A, option B would not exist.

This may be the most difficult poll I've answered. In the end I voted that knocking other posts is the most annoying. If no one were to respond to the posts about a particular FF team, perhaps less people would stop posting about their own team. The knocking posts only contribute to the growing animosity around here and add to the material we have to wade through to get to more useful information.

In human interaction, people frequently say more than you need to know. Many of us could respond to that overall phenomenon more gracefully.

For me, it breaks down to this:

Mon-Sat...........I really don't mind seeing other's situations and who they are evaluating AS LONG AS IT IS IN THE THREAD talking about that game/player (ie......don't start a new thread) It has helped me at times when I have the same player, he's injured/GTD and I'm going thru the same evaluation process.....particularly if it is something about someone that I hadn't considered before.

Sun.................I believe it clutters up the Shark Pool.

Is this one of those rooty snooty Shark Pool threads where we act like this place has gone down the tubes?
Isn't that something you can buy at IHOP?I prefer the Silver Dollar pancakes myself.

Personally, the 'X is hurt now I have to choose between Y and Z' posts have ever bothered me in my short tenure here. You don't like them, ignore them.

I see far too many people putting others down like their poop don't stink. That bothers me more.

This is a thoughtful analysis. When I think about it, I view the own-team comments differently on Sunday as well. The greater sense of urgency on Sunday does change people's needs on the Shark Pool on Sunday versus other days.

I think the lack of using the search function trumps both choices, but that's for a different thread.

As long as it's not a pinned update thread, there is no harm when someone mentions their team when they are contributing to the thread. When someone whines about that, they've added nothing but animosity to the thread which is much worse.

This is a WDIS, but IMO is an acceptable use of the Shark Pool. The individual has done some analysis and is asking the pool for additional input in making a decision. This is much different than " Should I start Chad or Andre?".

what if there was an NFL-only forum? only address topics that relate to actual football, and leaving fantasy completely out of it? that way you could analyze matchups, post injury updates, real game analysis, etc. then you can have some form of fantasy forum in which people can say whatever (value-added) things they want about fantasy football.

i find that too often (Colston threads especially), the thread goes way off-topic and then ceases to be useful.

just my $0.02.

I'll go off the board and nominate all Honda and pointing to the shirt posts.
if i knew what a honda post was, i'd agree with this. the pointing shirt posts are L-A-M-E, and really, not much different from the "we don't care about your team" retorts.

Won't happen. There's been discussion about having a dynasty/keeper forum only, but the mods want to keep all the info in one place (and understandably so). Besides, it's tough to truly delineate FF and real-life NFL.

Actually this is exactly what the Shark Pool is for. All of this stuff applies to fantasy football.....

Members who just can't let things go is probably the most annoying thing. Reminds me of middle school.

But I like hearing what other people do with their team. If someone wants to throw some smack at them for it, then thats there deal. Don't care either way.

I don't care for people who point out that I don't care about someone's team.

However, it's necessary to keep that amount of blabber to a minimum.

What bothers me more are when people make outlandish claims without any real support.

Like the guy who predicted the 9ers would beat the Bears a few weeks back because "the bears are playing so well and the 9ers are playing so bad, so it has to balance out."

Now, don't get me wrong, I make a lot of outlandish claims, but right or wrong, they are all soundly supported, at least enough to create a debate.

I don't enjoy opening a thread and spending the time to read it so some idiot can tell me that Tony Romo and the Cowboys are going to get smacked around by a stumbling Giants team because Romo is talking to too many reporters...

I also don't enjoy when someone creates a topic with some good potential for sound debate, and then a bunch of morons post the most clever string of eight words they can think of instead of actually contributing to a thread, which almost always derails the thread.

There are several examples in this thread.

Sometimes posts about peoples' teams are useful, but most of the time it's just garbage.

Game threads are so cluttered with "throw more to Harrison, I need 23 points".

A much more useful observation for a Harrison owner would be "it looks like Manning is favoring Wayne this game, the DBs are backing off him and Reggie is taking advantage".

My signature is specifically talking to those people who clutter the place with stuff like the former and "yes, TD Willie! I needed that!" garbage.

It's best to start with a general observation that's useful for others, then bring your team into it if it helps drive the point home. An example might be talking about why it's useful to have a QB-RB combo from the same team, and use your team's improved consistency as an indicator or something. Don't say "I have Carson Palmer and Rudi Johnson, WHO DEY!" and leave it at that. :2cents:

You really like that thread huh?You really like that thread huh?

There is a difference between WDIS and information specific to your roster and decisions you are making.

Evaluating a players value for a particular week isn't as easy as just saying is he healthy or does he have a good match up or how does he typically do against a particular team or defense etc. A lot of it is subjective based on his value compared to other players.

Posts like: "I've got these 4 guys can only start 2 what do I do?" belong in the ACF, no question.

I find posts like: "leaning towards starting MJD this weekend over either Foster or Lewis" very helpful. It helps me to gauge a consensus of peoples ranking of a player relative to other guys on their roster. I may be leaning towards starting MJD too but not sure how where to draw the line in relation to the rest of my roster. Obviously I wouldn't start him over LT or Gore regardless of the match up. Knowing someone else who presumable knows a thing or 2 about FFB is starting him over a guy like Lewis might help me to make the decision to start him over Tiki.

IMO people are too strict in the shark pool. If anything even remotely resembles a WDIS people feel like it is their responsibility to jump all over it without giving it a chance or considering whether it may have some value in helping people make decisions relative to their own team.

“Be Excellent to One Another.” The staff are here to “police” the pool. If you don’t care about the info in a thread don’t read it. Move on to something else. Don’t slam the guy who posted the info because he gave a little too much info on his team.

Anyways, those are my thoughts.
