What is everyone doing with Farve this week? (1 Viewer)

I am sure Favre has taken many of you to the playoffs, probably most of you had Bulger, Kitna, E. Manning, Rivers, etc as your #1 and were lucky enough to take a flyer on ole # 4 as your back-up.

Well now when all the chips or down (it's either a playoff game or a make or break week in leagues that start playoffs in week 15) are you going to start Favre.

A few things I am thinking about.

1. Does he start to keep the streak alive then come out aearly gainst a Raiders team they should be able to handle with Rodgers at helm while resting Favre for playoffs?

2. Does he come in with intentions of playing but tweak the injury in the 2nd quarter or something?

3. Even if 100% healthy the match-up is tough. If nothing else Oak has a pretty decent pass D.

4. Does Favre pull a superman like he has done so many times. Does anyone remember who Favre played when he tossed 10 TDs hours after his father died?....you got it the Oakland Raiders.

I think it would be helpful to get everyone's thoughts and who they are starting or benching in lieu of Favre.

Also any updates on his condition would be helpful.

I don't have him, but if I did it really depends on who my other options are. I'd hate to start him and then see him go out early. If I had anyone close to him I'd start them instead.

I've got Driver and my WR3 and I don't know what to do with him either.

Thankfully I have a bye the first round of the playoffs and dont have to worry about him this week.

I think it will be either #1 or Green Bay will look to protect him by running Grant down Oakland's throat (which they should be able to do all day considering Oakland has one of the worst rush defenses). I own Favre but was lucky enough to be able to pick up Jason Campbell who will be going against one of the worst pass defenses in Chicago so I'm going with him instead.

I'll probably play Favre if he is cleared to play. I also have Bulger, and I'm not sure if he is playing. If he is, and so is Favre, I'll probably play Favre.

I'm starting him and I expcet a respectable day. With 10 days off hopefully he'll be good to go and not just giving a token appearance to keep the streak alive.

On additional note, I hope they abandon the strategy used in Big D to huck the ball 40 yards down the field regardless of the coverage and stick with the short to intermeidate attack that has worked so well for them this year. That would also reduce the chances of him getting crushed by the pass rush and re-aggrivating his injuries. Get rid of the ball!

Favre doesn't have a good matchup this week, anyway. Not to say that Oakland can defend the pass well. However, odds are that Green bay is going to run 60% of the time. They are probably going to ease up on Favre. Jackson and Morency will probably play a larger role this week. I see Favre getting something like:

12/18 158 1 1

Grant:

21/138 2

Jackson

7/37

Morency

8/59 1

Now next week...I have Favre....then either Eli against Washington...but I am leaning towards dropping him for Jason Campbell (owner just dropped him to fill in for some injurred players)

In one league, I have Farve and McNabb. So help me, Jeebus, Travaris Jackson is looking like a possibility. :goodposting:

I have Favre, Rivers, Garrard and Rogers just in case.

I'm thinking about starting Garrard this week, Rd2 of the Playoffs.

I tend to agree with this, although, I think Favre does slightly better than that. I'll be he throws the ball 25 times, but yeah, 1/1 for TD/INT sounds about right. Grant has proven himself by this point and he can keep the offense moving the chains. I have Brett in my dynasty, which I didn't make the playoffs in so it doesn't matter at this point. But if I were in, I wouldn't be afraid to roll with him this week. I think our predictions here are safe with potential for a good bit more.

If Favre wasn't going to play the whole game he wouldn't be starting.

The streak isn't the reason he's starting. He's starting because his injury isn't that serious.

If you don't start him, sit him because of the Raiders pass def, not because you don't think he'll finish.

Favre plays very well in cold weather games. The Raiders will not be able to compete in this game.

Favre will have a very good day. Probably 240 yards passing and 2TDs. However, Grant will have the big day with 150 yards and a score. He may be the recipient of one of Favre's passing TDs as well.

Favre has never, as far as I can recall, simply started to keep the streak alive. He's started through injuries, but he's played the entire game in those instances.

I have Favre as my #1, and he was drafted thay way. Due to my team's injuries, the general lack of deals in my league, and other issues, I am sans backup - and I will be picking up the best backup option I can find. just in case.

I expect to start Favre. though.

4 QBs? Are you in a 2-QB league?
I had two injuries so I dropped players I don't need anymore and snatched 2 extra QBs just in case. I'm in the 2nd round of the playoffs right now. Rest of my team is set.I'm leaning towards Favre now. He's being held from practice today but should practice tomorrow.

#1 is the least likely by far. In over 15 years through four head coaches and numerous OC's and QB coaches, the Packers have almost never pulled him early (even with huge leads) nor done anything to indicate they are protecting him. Favre not only starts every game, he has probably finished at least 95% of his starts. McCarthy will not start him just to keep the streak alive.#2 is obviously always a possibility, but certainly much less likely with Favre than with any other quarterback who has played in the history of the NFL.#3 is certainly a possiblility with Favre. He lays a few eggs every season, and only has one such game so far this year (last week).#4 is most likley in my opinion. The injury by all accounts is a non-issue - he's played very well with much more severe injuries many times in his career. The extra time off is great for the old man. I would love to be starting Favre this weekend and would hate to be playing against him.
