What is Happening with Cadillac Williams? (1 Viewer)

I know that it is only week 2 but Cadillac is looking good when it comes to TDs. His average yards per rush, 3.4, is not great but will he get the over whelming majority of rushing TDs in Tampa? Is there anyone else on the team that could vulture away the TDs? Cadillac does not seem to be an everyweek play but depending on the matchup he is looking very tempting.

Any thoughts and/or comments?

that game was a complete fluke. He's a bust and you should sell if you can. Sure he had 2 tds, but he had a 2.5 yards per carry and he gets hurt every other game and hasnt been a consistent performer since game 6 of his rookie year...

Caddy was running gingerly yesterday but still scored twice.

With his schedule he should be a nice back to have this year as even a #2 RB .

Caddy alwasy was a good short yardage guy -- Gruden just chose to use Alstott one of the best ever short yardage guys when he was there.

I think a season of ( assuming Caddy 's ribs get better quick ) 1,100 yds ru and 10 TD's wouldn't be undooable.

You traded him before yesterday, huh?

I have to agree with you Moz. Caddy could be the player who exceeds his ADP in 2007. Since there is no one else in Tampa and the schedule is soft. Caddy could be a nice #2. Since Caddy is not in a RBBC situation he could put up some nice numbers. If he stays healthy, notice the "if", Caddy should put up better fantasy numbers than Maroney.

Drives me crazy when guys spend so much time trying to monitor and bash new threads. This thread is about Caddy and his current and anticipated TD production over the course of this season. Your link is to a thread that says Caddy will start week 2. Nice try though....
If you actually read the thread, you would see a lot of indepth discussion about CW, his goalline chances, his OL, the other RBs on the Bucs, etc.All info that will be regurgitated here.

I was trying to help.

A huge myth. Look up his stats.

He will score lots of TDs this year. He was killer value this offseason and will continue to be value this season if he can stay healthy.

September 17, 2007, 16:07Buccaneers :: RBBucs RB Williams Fine After Playing HurtTampa Tribune - [Full Article]In his Monday press conference, Tampa Bay Buccaneers HC Jon Gruden spoke regarding the health of RB Cadillac Williams. "As far as I know he made it through. I haven't seen him today. Our players report later this afternoon. He had to go to the locker room at some point in the third quarter to get an IV, but I do believe he came out ok," Gruden stated.

Don't waste your time Irish. Posters like philly and steelernation don't care about the facts. They just rehash the same crap.

Im up on Caddy. This season he will at least double his touchdown output to date. Probly not much more though.
Jon Gruden is currently on the radio. He just got finished saying that Cadillac will be the go to guy on the goal line, as evidenced by the carries he received there yesterday. It's looking more and more like the guys who drafted Cadillac in the fourth round area are going to get a steal if he stays healthy this season. The Bucs looked very solid on defense yesterday and only threw the ball three times in the second half. Had this been a closer game Cadillac would have had a much higher yards per carry in the second half of the game. The Bucs had a 28 point lead and simply went to work on the clock. When the Buccaneer passing game gets some respect the holes are going to open up for Caddy.

In his last 16 games (2 games this year, 14 last) he has topped 100yds rushing twice, and 75yds 5 times. In that same span he has 3 (count'em 3) TDs. And its not that he doesnt get the touches, its that he only averages 3.5 a carry and sometimes he's just god awful. In his career he has 8 100yd games and 9 games were he got less than 30.For me, for fantasty football purposes I don't want to be putting a guy out there that is more likely to put up 30 yds than 100 and has a hard time getting in the endzone.

But hey, anyday I get to play the cadddy owner is a good day for me....

And of course I traded him in the offseason... I couldn't believe what I got for him either

I'm torn on Caddy - his YPC is pretty bad, but his schedule looks soft enough that he should be able to have a decent # of touchdowns if he's the guy at the goal line. Any Tampa homers with some insight into their o-line play out there?

Traded Betts for him.

Nice schedule defensively the rest of the year.

Ignore the YPC, he had busted ribs with a new QB.

Once Garcia gets in sync, which it looks like happend yesterday, it will force defenses to respect the pass, allowing caddy to find more lanes.

I drafted him as a #3 RB because:

They have an easy schedule against the run.

Alstott retired.

Tampa will be better than last year.

1,200 yards and 7-8 TDs are reasonable expectations for him.

Very convenient that you just look at the last 16 games...after first tellling us that he hasn't done anything since his first 6.What about the other 7 games you ignore? 1/3 of his career, and probably the last 7 games he has been as healthy as he is now?

* He finished as the #7 RB over the last 7 games of '05, by averaging 95 yds/game rushing

* He rushed for 100 yds 3 times, over 75 yards 6 times (only failed at NE)

I'm not saying he's going to be a top 10 back...but the guys who continue to rehash the same opinions about CW having done NOTHING since early in his rookie year are not correct.

And now the Bucs have a better OL and QB.

Caddy was the chic pick for comeback player of the year. I think he's a great #3RB to anyone's roster. He should be able to fill in and produce during bye weeks and with Garcia/Galloway opening up the passing game, he'll get his share of goal-line carries. I actually thought he wouldn't do so well and picked up Michael Pittman as a sleeper, but after last week dropped him as Caddy is the man there. Just don't expect too much against stronger defenses...

Their schedule is cake, I agree. And with Gruden stating Caddy will be the GL guy, he represents a steal if he stays healthy. Too many guys make the mistake of thinking that if a guy has an injury history, he's to be avoided at all cost. Apparently, players who have been injured often are not capable of having good seasons. This is a huge mistake to think like this IMO.

Not sure why you say this. I think Caddy's value is greater than the perception of that value at this point.Caddy still conjures a lot of negative sentiment with FF owners. A couple decent (and not amazing by any stretch) games is hardly going to change that overnight. The way I see it, Caddy has as good a chance to be a #7-12 RB as countless other guys. He might even have a BIT more upside than that if all the stars align - his own coach stated that Caddy will get a bigger workload (I believe I read it on the blogger, not sure) than this past week where he had 24 carries. So, if the coach is going to give Caddy the rock 25 times, have him there for the goaline and use him to seal games with a lead in the 4th quarter... that is a pretty nice place to be. And not many RBs can claim that. If Caddy can stay healthy, I dont see how he finishes outside the top 15 with a very good chance to do better.

Caddy has been getting vultured his entire career by Alstott. Why is it a surprise that the guy is scoring more touchdowns now that Alstott is out?

Interesting. These guys seem "goal-liney" to me.

No worries here, Gruden already said Caddy's his man at the GL

 Sums it up nicely IMHO. Health will be his biggest enemy and the one his detractors will continuously bring up. The opps, without competition, are definitely there.

I'm disappointed that you haven't bothered to use even ONE car analogy in this thread. For shame.

Caddy's going to be in cruise control this weekend.

I completely agree. With a strong RB2 upside.

They sent Shelton away without an offer.
No surprise there - he flubbed badly in a very run-friendly Carolina offense. As for Kyle Johnson, IIRC he's a pure fullback. I would imagine they're looking for some fullback depth with Alstott out. Perhaps Pittman isn't cut out for that role, but the homers would know better.

Not surprised by Capella's update about Shelton, b/c that guy was major disappointment in Carolina. After seeing him at Louisville, I thought Shelton would be a goal line vulture with a decent shot to be the RB1 for the Panthers. He flopped.
