What is Ray Rice's Dynasty Value? (1 Viewer)

I was in the pool

I was thinking back to the preseason where the mock drafts considered it "the big 4" running backs, then anything goes - like picking AJ, Gore, a QB, etc. at #5 or later.

Not based on the 1st 4 games in particular, but high receptions (especially as high as Rice's total last year) are unsustainable in the long-term, so Rice may be a notch below the new "big 3" running backs.

What is Rice's dynasty value in terms of players you would take in a 1 for 1 trade?

well why do you think high receptions are unsustainable. where did that idea come from. that was literally your only explanation for why hes now dropped out of the top 4. Hes still the #3 dynasty rb.

I currently have Rice as my #6 dynasty back, although i had him at #4 before the season started. I never considered him as part of the big 4 however. To me he was just at the top of the 2nd tier of RB's that included 5 or 6 other guys. Like you, i thought he would be able to put up the receptions totals of last year. Between that and his lack of goalline carries, i wasnt nealry as high on him as most.

As far as who i would take for him straight up, the list is short.

CJ

AD

MJD

JStew

Best

Guys i would consider:

Charles

AJ

CJ

Austin

Personally, I don't think he will be a big TD guy - more of a "between the 20s" back. And if you look at a lot of the high reception guys - meaning 50+ like Rice, Gore, Forte, MJD, SJax - all of them have either a weak QB that has trouble getting the ball down the field OR has a weak WR corps where all the QB can do to save a sack is dump it off all day.

Examples of the weak QB RBs are MJD, Gore, F.Jackson.

weak WR RBs are SJax, Rice (in 2009).

Rice's situation changed with Heap being healthy now and bringing in Boldin. Flacco can actually throw the passing tree to these guys as opposed to last year where Rice was the leading receiver and the bailout.

JStewart is the guy I was thinking about in a keeper, Go Deep. While trading Rice for Stewart in 2010 is basically trading 2011 or 2012 for a real chance to win in 2010 - it is a good long-term move.

Alot depends on leagues specifics. Plus, while i would trade Rice for Stewart, most people wouldnt. So if you are willing to trade Rice for Stewart, get something else in addition.

No way, even though i am not as big of a fan of Rice as most, there is no denying his talent. And when it scomes to keeper/dynasty leagues, talent and youth are the two biggest factors. It is very unlikely that i make a trade where my team gets older. I will usually trade talented older players like Turner or SJax or guys who are producing due to situation like Foster or Garcon for young talented players who are less proven like Charles, Sidney Rice or Spiller.
