What is this Sandy Hook conspiracy crap? (1 Viewer)

As much as I hate people, I can't even quantify how ignorant that Facebook thing is.  Bunch of little kids shot in cold blood and it has to be a conspiracy, because people have nothing better to do.

Just want to make sure we are clear here.

-I asked about this topic because CNN had it splashed across the top late last week. I kinda knew it would be a tough topic but I did not start this thread to hurt anyone. Maybe you need to read that again.

-I am losing close friends due to a lot of conspiracy theories on a wide array of topics but most center around the government being responsible for things like 9/11, Sandy Hook, and Pulse in Orlando which was personally devastating.

-It's disturbing that people are so fearful of discussion that they want to condemn the OP plus try and implore the Mods to delete this thread which is Fascist in nature and seems to be the very thing they rail against in other threads. The double standard being thrown about here would be funny if it weren't so disturbing. The ammo by one side regardless in every topic is to try and discredit rather than engage in conversation.

Why is that? Think about it.

So what is the thread argument about? This makes no sense to me. There was a murderous rampage in Sandy Hook. That's it. Story over.

A good chunk of atheists feel like they can't even engage Christians because they believe in the magic man in the sky and for some it's painfully obvious that we will return to life same as we came in...do you remember much prior to popping out of the womb?

Now Im not saying MOP believe it just like it was written. But for 10%+ of the population, they want to pull their hair out with anything that is legislated in their life based on a mythical book and spirits and gods and the like...so those of you making blanket statements and tossing folks under the bus without even a meaningful discussion should probably not be in this thread to start with.

Even stooping to the Penn State rape case to try and shut people up from asking what this news story is that compelled to CNN to run a story on it. I would say go to hell but there is no such place.

Let me ask a more direct question to the audience and someone pour my buddy Max an adult beverage so he can relax.

Is there some things that simply do not add up AND perhaps folks have taken what could be a possible small find and turned it into something ridiculous?

What are we supposed to be discussing?

You're the worst character ever, Towelie.

I think it's healthy to be skeptical to a certain extent but once you cross into the realm of grand conspiracies you're kind of ####ed, especially if you end up tweaking your life around them. Even then however, I suppose they're largely harmless. I'd only have a problem with those beliefs if they effected my life directly, like by someone who is shaping the policies of the country I live in.

Enter Donald Trump. This is just a friendly reminder that he has appeared on Alex Jones's show not once, but twice in the last year. Jones believes our planet is being run by shapeshifting lizard men (and, of course, thinks the Sandy Hook shooting was a hoax). He's certifiably insane.

The mere fact that Trump acknowledged him is a horrible sign, even if he's just doing so to pander to his audience.

I just want this thread deleted. Like the pedogate one....
You were babbling about horrible, baseless accusations about living people in the pizza gate thread in real time, continuing to give life to the idiocy and fostering a narrative that was clearly dangerous. That's why I said it should be deleted. Then sure enough, right on cue, one of your buddies went into comet pizza and discharges a weapon. Investigating. You should really give the thinking a rest for a bit.

I don't think this thread and the pizzagate thread should be deleted.  They should be permanent monuments to how stupid and hurtful people can be.  Make them bathe in it.  Make them wear it.

Trump has also had a speaker at his rallies named Carl Gallups, who is a Sandy Hook Truther.  Do I think Trump is one?  Id like to think not, but it's possible.  What's absolutely true is that he foments this type of bizarre thought and hatred.  And now he is our President.

You have ro admit thst The Donald as a shape####ing lizard man kind of makes sense (particularly if he was stripped of his shapeshifting ability circa the casino bankruptcies)

Let me put this another way:

"I didn't know that" or "I've never experienced this before" or "that sounds weird" aren't the same thing as "this doesn't add up."  Instead, people substitute their gut feelings about something they don't understand for "evidence" or "science" or "forensics."  That's not going to work.  The problem here is that some people get hung up on details that happen very infrequently and decide that the infrequency means "it could not have happened that way."  They misunderstand the idea of Occam's razor and believe it means that if an explanation is complex, it must be false.  Instead, what it means is that "all other things being equal, between two plausible explanations the one that requires the least assumptions is more likely."

There's a lot of similarities between religious people and those that believe in wild conspiracy theories. It's a lot of belief without facts. If anything, the arguments wild conspiracy believers make can many times be more compelling than "well god said so in his book".

lol... poor mop.

fwiw- I never read this thread or his comments as coming across as him supporting it... just look at the title of the thread. but damn skippy he's paying the piper for it.

Wow. My relatives live in Newtown, CT. Anybody thinking this is a hoax isn't thinking straight.
My parents have friends there. I watched my cousin's band play at My Place, where Lanza's mom frequented. Obviously thousands of people in that community know the families of the victims, and knew those kids, and went to their funerals, and can attest that those kids don't exist anymore. That's why this whole thing is so unbelievably stupid.

How much would it cost to have you recite this six inches from the face of every single American?

I'll give you my discount rate.  $300/hr x 300,000,000 or so citizens... I tell you what, I won't even charge for travel time, we'll assume I can do 10 people per hour.  I'll do it for $9 billion.

And that makes perfect sense but it takes until page 9 to get an honest answer. I'm trying to point out that people do believe this but play coy out of fear or ridicule...and they probably should.

I didn't have to know people from there personally to know that this being a hoax put forth but the government or whatever to control guns was completely over the moon bat#### insane.

I have a lot of friends who simply have not experienced the level of success that so many seem to have achieved in these forums. And what happens over time is scapegoats are drawn up. And all this feeds their need to feel the deck is stacked against them. They are mentally breaking down. If all you do is run in 6 figure circles, it's not likely you encounter a lot of these conspiracy nuts at least not at the level others might see them.

We need you to be the voice of reason to those dudes

Millions of people voted for Hillary or Trump to lead this country and people are laughing at the Sandy Hook conspiracy theorists?   :lmao:
The choice being Trump or Hillary was not something to laugh about. It was something to cry about.

Thanks a lot Tim!
