What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

Just so I am clear for tomorrow.

3 Masala Growlers - for Duckboy, Skylord and FatMax

1 Mocha Java Double Brown - for Skylord.
I think two growlers would hurt me considerably. I'll take my beating like a man though.

 I really think by now they have figured out that all the growlers I buy aren't consumed by me. Especially considering I only have one empty to bring tomorrow.

Just to make sure, there isn't anything esle I need to pick up is there? Check their site for what is on tap. Town Hall

Just a guess that I have a 7 corners burger and a Masala cask while I am there tomorrow. :banned: Sometimes I love living in MN.

Gets kind of cold in the winter. brr. Lots of blondes there though.

I wish I could enjoy a beer....I still have a bit of the cold I got 2 weeks ago....No more congestion, but my throat has been scratchy for a week and my voice is still gone :hot:

I just cant seem to shake this one...

I still have most of the beer I brought back from Michigan, plus a bunch from trades with Skylord and a few others just sitting in my fridge, waiting for me to be not-sick.

So many options...

You could skip the rte 10 corridor and head from the Alchemist down to either Brattleboro or West Lebanon (Seven Barrel brewpub), then the next day cut across towards Portsmouth, hitting a couple of the smaller brewpubs (Milly's Tavern in Manchester, Martha's Exchange in Nashua, Elm City in Keene) before roosting at Portsmouth Brewing Co.  Next morning, head down to Boston, stopping for an early lunch at The Tap in Haverhill (HAY-vrill). Then go nuts there.  You could work the trip back to Hburg to hit the two must-stop-theres in CT,  Willimantic and Cambridge House in Granby.

Some of the routes are not the fastest, but who said that the fast way is fun?

That would likely be the most efficient way. Hell, you could stay two nights in Portsmouth and swing a day trip up to Portland ME and nail three breweries, three brewpubs, three dollar deweys (beer bar), and pick up three cases of Cadillac Mountain Stout.
You're the man! Wow, I didn't realize that Portsmouth is pretty much an hour away from both portland and boston! I have a friend who brews at Smuttynose - I like that two nights in Portsmouth idea!

:banned:
Which brewer at Smutty? Definitely one of my favorite breweries lately - solid lineup.Portsmouth is a great central location, beerwise. The brewpub does a dynamite job with their beers - good food as well. Great place to spend an evening.

I currently live in Cambridge but have only been here a week or so so I couldn't give you much on that but I am from Maine and live close to Portland. My advice on Portland:Hit up these 3 breweries that are right next to each other (literally walking distance): Allagash, Casco Bay, and DL Geary's. They all do tours on the weekdays. Gearys does it at 2:30 and Allagash at 3. Casco Bay is flexible so I'm guessing that you could either schedule it for 2 or 3:30. I went on the Allagash one and it was nothing special but it was nice to taste some beers at the end.

Either before or after these tours, I'd recommend going to the Great Lost Bear as it's a Maine beer landmark and is within 10 mins. driving distance to the breweries. I wouldn't have dinner there though as you could probably find much better cuisine downtown (and it's worth it to go down to "the Old Port"). There are 50+ some odd taps there and the list is kept online and although probably not updated, it'll give you an idea of what they have.

Right down the road is one of the better beer places in town (from what I've read at least) to get beer called RSVP. It's literally right down the road.

Hope that helps.
noted -thanks!oh, and yes - growlers may only last one day once it's opened... I typically try to finish mine by the next day if I do not polish it after opening.

(nice avatar, BTW)
Gotta agree w/ nase' suggestions re Portland. I'd hit the Bear on the way in for a primer before the beer tours. The Portland Public Market has a place that sells beer, as well as a seafood shop that will sell you a dozen oysters on the half shell to enjoy with a local beer on tap that may be cool for lunch. Hit the three breweries (Casco Bay makes some highly drinkable brews), then hit Old Port afterwards for wandering and eats. Either Sebago or Gritty's are good places food wise - not haute cuisine, but solid brewpub food. There are also outstanding restaurants all over the place if you want a break from beer (GAAAH!).If you want to hit the most places in a day, I highly recommend some serious prep work on BA to figure out what one or two beers you want to try at a given location, and then try and keep a disciplined eye on the clock and the itinerary; otherwise you'll fall into the "McNeill's Trap" as my friend calls it and spend too much time at one place. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. ;)

Yeah, I am ready to see the specialist about something going on with my throat. I haven't been able to talk normal for over 3 months.

Jolly Pumpkin is everywhere around here and I haven't seen reserves or Firefly. I will watch for them though.

And to the point of the thread, I had a couple pints of Masala Mama on cask while picking up everyone's growlers today.

Packages are on the move. 3 random beer boxes will be arriving on doorsteps on Wednesday. Duckboy's box will be on Thursday also, and Wingnut's on Tuesday. Cheers. :banned:

DFH IB is in the BIF box too. So solid.

Southampton Imperial Porter. Another fine beer from these guys. Glad I don't live near there. I'd never go home.

Picked up a few weirdos tonight. Lucifer, Orval and Herold Bohemian Wheat.

Finishing off my Sam Adams beers tonight. Will be getting some Stone Vertical Epic for this weekend. :pickle:
If it's the 06, drink one and age whatever else you pick up. It's a little "green".

Rouge Shakes Stout + dry rubbed sirloin on the grill =

A) Waste of good beer

B) Waste of good beef

C) I hate stouts so how would I know

Not sure. I asume it's new because the Fresno bevmo didn't have it before, and my buddy called me yesterday and said they had some in. Thanks for the advice though.

This porter from Southampton is PFG. Also found out that Southamptons Double White is on tap at Capital Ale House. Guess where I'm going tomorrow.

Was excited at the prospect of hitting up either Bukowski's in Cambridge or the Kinsale Irish Pub after work. Instead, I decided to be "social" and go where the other interns were going...

Meet: Tia's on the Waterfront. Ahorribly overpriced and no personality bar near the downtown Boston waterfront. Best options on tap were Widmer Bros. Hefe and Stella. Best option in bottle was....Heineken??? $20 for 3 drinks (one for a friend), disliked both beers (it's amazing how much my tastes have developed just in the last month as I'm sure I've had these beers before and thought they were decent), and can't even make up for it with the Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout in my fridge as I have to type a paper tonight.

And my roommates went to some 80s cover night with some ladies a little while ago...

:wall:

I'll be downing a couple of smooth Boddington's tonight.
Boddington's was an early favorite of mine. There will always be a soft spot in my heart for that beer. Saw it the other day. The four pack looked lonely. I wanted to comfort it. Let it know it was wanted. And drink it too.......I'm not a sicko after all.
