There's something about a nice, crisp hefe, IPA, or even pilsner in the summer, no doubt. Other than a pint of DFH Chicory Stout a few weeks back in Memphis, I've not had any dark beer in a couple of months. What is it about stouts and warm weather that don't go well together?
I have a bunch of stouts at home either in the fridge or my closet that I haven't tried, but with the weather as hot has it's been lately, stouts just don't sound good. I might hang on to them for a few months before sampling.
I may just crack open my DFH 90 to start the night off.Now a DFH 90 minute. Been TOO long since I knocked back a 90.![]()

thankshitimeDon't know if they have it, but they did have some Alesmith stuff before. Site seems to be down right now.Anyone know where I can get Yulesmith online or anywhere else?
I've got them at my liquor store right now. Let me know if you can't find some and I'll arrange a delivery for you.Anyone know where I can get Yulesmith online or anywhere else?
This is why I am going with the Abita 20th Anniversary Pilsner (which continues to get 4.0+ reviews at BA) and a local Kolsch in the BOTM 2. He has them in stock. I asked him how many he has and he said "Quite a bit, but when theyre gone, theyre gone". $110 a case. He said if I placed my order today Id have it early next week, but I have to wait till next week to order it because of cash flow.Does in stock mean that he has them or that he is getting them soon? I need to know if I need to swing by the beer store tonight, because I am going out of town tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, I will be in Seattle/Portland next week. Bring on the West Coast beers!!!! I am bringing the lap top so I will try to check in occassionaly (no internet access during the week).
Yeah. Don't get your hopes up. It's only so-so.It's a pretty meh brew.Just got an e-mail from Mike at Town Hall. Masala Mama WILL be at Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison (3 weeks!). Reading a lot about this, so I can't wait to sample it!

that's all i've been drinking!EG - "I got it at Big C's Liquor store in Winter Park, FL for $11.99. It is in the fridge right now and I am going to review it tonight! I can't wait."from a gb.Oooh. Missed that - now I'm going to have to look for it on Friday.the one it's talking about is a one-time special anniversary edition.I can pretty much always get this. there are two beer shops here in Orlando (Big C and Knightly Spirits) that carry this all the time.re: St Bernardus Abt 12 Special Edition (from Ratebeer's forum)

"This must have just hit the shores. I picked up a bottle today in Orlando. If you can’t find it soon, send some of us down here a beermail, I’m sure we can take care of you.
Cheers,
JON"
I never understood the love for Harpoon either. It was on sale for 10.99 for a 12 pack, and it only took a second or two of thought to reach for the 7.50 6 pack of HopDevil. Harpoon is a truley underwhelming IPA that cannot compete with the big boys.Having a DFH 90 right now as I take a break from packing and getting ready to go. Went by the beer store to check on the Anniversary St Bernardus. No luck. The regular beer guy that I know wasn't there, so I couldn't ask about pulling some aside for me. I hope some is there when I get back in town.Just read the review, but it doesn't look like FatMax was too happy with the Harpoon IPA. I have to say I agree, but tons of people really seem to like it. I can drink it, but there are so many better ones out there.
Oskar Blues - Old Chub - Scottish Style Ale
A very decieving canned beer!

Not drinking. Don't know why. Won't be drinking much this weekend either. I'll be at work from sometime tomorrow, say about 10am until about 7am Saturday. Then 11pm Saturday until about noon Sunday. I'll be silly after a couple of beers on Sunday.Yep, apparently.Yeah, I take a couple weeks off and there is no talk???Having Diet Pepsi, oh hippee.Wow, quiet around here tonight. Just had one of those for the firs time. Liked it.Terrapin Rye Pale Ale.
And here's to hoping you get back on the wagon soon, Tiptop. Or is it off the wagon?
If you can arrange yourself a Rye Squared, I'd highly recommend it.Just had one of those for the firs time. Liked it.Terrapin Rye Pale Ale.

Terrapin has really done a good job, and is helping to polish up the image of the south as a beer wasteland. My favorite of theirs is the Big Hoppy Monster, but I enjoy both the Rye Pale and the Rye Squared. My only complaint is that they have some consistency issues, but I am sure that those will get ironed out.If you can arrange yourself a Rye Squared, I'd highly recommend it.

This is their spring seasonal, and I haven't seen it around much lately. Their summer beer is an Imperial Pilsner. I will be picking up a 4 pack of this when I get back from vacation.Pin this one for BIF II.![]()
