What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

What is it about stouts and warm weather that don't go well together?

I have a bunch of stouts at home either in the fridge or my closet that I haven't tried, but with the weather as hot has it's been lately, stouts just don't sound good. I might hang on to them for a few months before sampling.
There's something about a nice, crisp hefe, IPA, or even pilsner in the summer, no doubt. Other than a pint of DFH Chicory Stout a few weeks back in Memphis, I've not had any dark beer in a couple of months.

This is why I am going with the Abita 20th Anniversary Pilsner (which continues to get 4.0+ reviews at BA) and a local Kolsch in the BOTM 2. It's freaking August, people.

Oh yeah, guys, forgot to mention....My micro beer rep was at my store today. Guess what I found out he has in stock?? He just got the go-ahead to start taking orders for it.

CLICKITY-CLICK, and a PIC

:excited:

Im ordering a case. :headbang:

Now knocking back a Southern Tier HopSun (courtesy of Bakes). I usually dont follow a double IPA with something like this, but the 90 was a bit much so I had to regress a bit.

This is good, but not as good as the one in the can I had a while ago.

Does in stock mean that he has them or that he is getting them soon? I need to know if I need to swing by the beer store tonight, because I am going out of town tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, I will be in Seattle/Portland next week. Bring on the West Coast beers!!!! I am bringing the lap top so I will try to check in occassionaly (no internet access during the weekend).

He has them in stock. I asked him how many he has and he said "Quite a bit, but when theyre gone, theyre gone". $110 a case. He said if I placed my order today Id have it early next week, but I have to wait till next week to order it because of cash flow.

BBC APA.

coldchill.

ETA: The best one yet.

overall: 4.1

appearance: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4 | mouthfeel: 4 | drinkability: 4

A brew from coldchill.

My first APA, i think. A very strong good smell. Pours a nice dark color with a tan foamy head. Taste is really good. Strong flavors. Not sure wha tthe difference is between an APA and IPA besides one letter but this is a really good beer. The drinkability is really good and the after taste is subtle and smooth.

Needless to say, I must have this. Help a brutha out. ;)

Just read the review, but it doesn't look like FatMax was too happy with the Harpoon IPA. I have to say I agree, but tons of people really seem to like it. I can drink it, but there are so many better ones out there.

re: St Bernardus Abt 12 Special Edition (from Ratebeer's forum)

"This must have just hit the shores. I picked up a bottle today in Orlando. If you can’t find it soon, send some of us down here a beermail, I’m sure we can take care of you.

Cheers,

JON"
I can pretty much always get this. there are two beer shops here in Orlando (Big C and Knightly Spirits) that carry this all the time.
the one it's talking about is a one-time special anniversary edition.
Oooh. Missed that - now I'm going to have to look for it on Friday.
EG - "I got it at Big C's Liquor store in Winter Park, FL for $11.99. It is in the fridge right now and I am going to review it tonight! I can't wait."from a gb.

you anywhere near Winter Park?

know of this Big C's?

I never understood the love for Harpoon either. It was on sale for 10.99 for a 12 pack, and it only took a second or two of thought to reach for the 7.50 6 pack of HopDevil. Harpoon is a truley underwhelming IPA that cannot compete with the big boys.Having a DFH 90 right now as I take a break from packing and getting ready to go. Went by the beer store to check on the Anniversary St Bernardus. No luck. The regular beer guy that I know wasn't there, so I couldn't ask about pulling some aside for me. I hope some is there when I get back in town.

Wow, quiet around here tonight. Next up, I'm heading to the far east to enjoy a Hitachino White ale from Japan.
Yeah, I take a couple weeks off and there is no talk???Having Diet Pepsi, oh yippee.

Yep, apparently.
Not drinking. Don't know why. Won't be drinking much this weekend either. I'll be at work from sometime tomorrow, say about 10am until about 7am Saturday. Then 11pm Saturday until about noon Sunday. I'll be silly after a couple of beers on Sunday.

If you can arrange yourself a Rye Squared, I'd highly recommend it.
Terrapin has really done a good job, and is helping to polish up the image of the south as a beer wasteland. My favorite of theirs is the Big Hoppy Monster, but I enjoy both the Rye Pale and the Rye Squared. My only complaint is that they have some consistency issues, but I am sure that those will get ironed out.

I hope the morning doesn't start off to bad for you. I have a T-Shirt with the quote "I feel sorry for sober people, because when they get up in the morning that is the best they are ever going to feel".

Big hoppy wasn't in season when I made the trade. I should look into that.

It's their fall seasonal. I'll keep you in mind when they return.
