What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

I'm getting that feeling.  You know that feeling.  It's that feeling when your girlfriend/wife is working late, there ain't #### on TV, and you just cracked a beer and it's tasting very good.  God, I hope I'm not alone this evening.

Okocim Porter right now.  Very good stuff.

Kilgore, have you ever had one of these?
Bump for Trout, if he is still around.
Sorry I missed this. No, I haven't tried it, nor have I seen it in these parts (but maybe I wasn't looking very hard). I've actually never had a Baltic Porter of any type. I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.And as far as the Speedway Stout is concerned, it is high on my list of beers I want to try. I think I even asked if you could get it the last time we traded. I wonder if their beer makes it up to Portland, since I will be there in July.
I can get the Speedway stout would be interested in a trade. There are some beers in your area I just can't get.

Wide variety of beers tonight while hosting my monday night poker game.  New Glarus Hop Hearty, New Glarus Belgian Red, Bell's Third Coast Ale.
reviews?
Hop Hearty was great. Good amount of hop bitterness. Just right for a non-west coast IPA.Belgian Red just isn't my kind of beer. I thought I would try it because of all the great reviews that it got, but it is way too sweet for me. Not bad for the genre, but not what I am looking for in a beer.

Third Coast Ale was at the end of the night so my taste buds may have been ruined by then, but I really didn't like it. Considered pouring it out, which would be a first for anything made by Bell's.

Fatmax - go buy the Drakes Expidition Ale at Bevmo soon. It is a very hoppy dark malted beer that was just released. It is better than the IPA. Also there stout is very good.

Also the White Knuckle Double IPA from Marin Brewing Co

i had a Third Coast.. pretty sure it was the same one you had.. i actually did pour it out. it was atrocious. seriously. made me a little leery of the Best Brown Ale i had on Friday nite (saturday?) but that was at the opposite end of the spectrum.. very nice beer.

the Third Coast was just.. not good. kinda hoped maybe it was just a bad bottle. guess not.

Sweet. I'll look for it. I love their IPA, so that is high praise. If you see any more stout, grab it up. Drake's has stopped producing it. I think I have a bottle or two at home.

Getting Kilgore to commit to a trade is a difficult task, but it can be done. If I were you, I would suggest getting some Highland Tasgall Scottish Ale in return. Very good beer.

The normal stout or imperial? I drank the imperial last night.

I kinda liked the Third Coast, but I was ready for an extreme sweet malt bomb. Reminded me of Lagunitas Brown Shugga, but with more alcohol. It WAS tough to finish though. About 2/3 of the way through I started to struggle with it.

I haven't had either, but according to the links that Furley put below, neither has more alcohol than Brown Sugga.

I had the Old Ale (9%)...I noticed the alcohol more in it...it wasnt hidden as well as the Brown Shugga. But while drinking it, I was thinking that it reminded me of the Lagunitas - like I could actually taste brown sugar or maybe turbinado sugar...

Drinking the Third Coast Old Ale right now. This beer is a MALT BOMB. Reminds me of Lagunitas Brown Shugga. Almost no hops to speak of. Pretty tasty though.
That was during the first 2/3 of the beer....after that it got a bit rough...

okay.... me too. i would advise any FBG about to drink the APA... do not expect much.

Guess Im lone sharkin it tonight...

After the Mad Anthony Stout, a Homebrewed Oatmeal Stout, and a North Coast Rasputin stout, Im gonna move on to a Boulder Hazed & Infused, one of my favorite quenchers.

Looks like most of the beer guys have turned in for the night expect for the west coaster, Skylord, who is still lingering...

BTW, Skylord, I havent had the Hopsickle yet...I just put it in the fridge for tomorrow night. I was gonna take it to the beach with me but decided Id be better off drinking something Ive had beforem like Hazed & Infuzed, Mojo IPA and Aprihop. That way I wouldnt have to take notes for a BA review, cause I really want to review that one.

:banned:
Your box is sealed. Should be shipped in the next day or two.
:pickle: Any chance you can let me know whats coming so I can start putting together a list of beers to pick up???????

Is that too much? I ordered a case of Alesmith IPA bombers and the box they cames in is perfect for shipping. I just filled it back up with a veriety pack. I can go smaller but it will take ma a little longer to find the right packaging. I was figuring you could fille it and send the same box back. It is perfect.

Too much is not in my vocabulary when it comes to beer. Not alot of beer comes in bombers here, but can fill it with 12ozers

My only worry is finding enough beers that you cant get where youre at...

I'll send it today. I think each beer hole will fit two 12oz bottles one upright and one updside down or one bomber.

Speakeasy IPA. Decent, but I've had better.

Still trying to find the Stone RIS. :kicksrock:
Where are you located?I was going to crack it tonight but at 10.8% alcohol I sort of chickened out for a Monday night :bag:
SE Va. Called my beer guy and he said he normally doesn't get it until July. I was like  There are people in Ohio and Mass claiming to have it in stores. He's going to check with the distributor and call me back. :fingerscrossed:
The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming!Beer guy called me earlier. Distributor got it today, he'll have it tomorrow. I sure hope this is much ado about nuttin.

Not sure why Stone would release a Stout in April. Guess I'll drink one now (within the next week or so) and hold onto a few until winter.

Having the Pipers that Wingnut sent me in the BIF.
Kinda put things in perspective, doesnt it??? Shows what a wasteland Florida really is when it comes to beer...It may be the best bottled pale ale in the state :bag: I like it once in a while though. I kinda have a soft spot for it.

I don't think I've ever had a Floridian beer.Verdict?
Really light for a Pale Ale. Simple flavor. Enjoyable, but nothing out of the ordinary. One of those beers that if it was hot out and there was a cooler full, my friends would ask how I drank so many and I would think it was no big deal. Goes down really easy.

FatMax sent me an IPA that reminded me alot of the Piper: Mad River Sunset IPA. It kinda has the same "woodiness" (the only way I know to describe it).

Mad River... takes me back to my college days. Althought they didn't have the IPA then. But holy cow did I drink a lot of the Jamaica brand, Steelhead PA and Steelhead stout.

Is anyone elses search bar for Firefox no longer working properly for Beer Advocate?
Still using IE :bag:
So check this...Firefox has one of those google search bars in the top right hand corner of the browser. But its a pull down menu where you can add more search engines. Pretty much every site that has search capability can be added. I have Beer Advocate and Rate Beer as pulldown options.

So when someone posts a beer you've never heard of...copy and paste the name to the window, pull down to Beer Advocate and click enter. The next page is the search results like you were at Beer Advocate when you searched for it. Good stuff.

Yeah, I keep meaning to switch, but just never take the time to do so.

Netscape here. I have BA bookmarked in my personal toolbar. No dropdown needed.

Damn, FatMAx...youve been a busy beaver writing reviews over at BA. Ive slowed down a bit myself, but need to start up again.

Surprised you dont have any Bear Republic reviews yet.

I really wish I had rated all the beers I've had. I just can't bring my self to start over now. My life would become engulfed in rating beers.
