What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (5 Viewers)

 :bow:I am your humble servant.
This exchange mad me  .

Im not even sure what it means, but Im in any man's debt who puts some Masala in my hands.
 in a good way. Like at weddings. Its great to see your fellow man pass along their love of beer.
I hear ya. The beer brotherhood at FBG rivals even that at BA.

These strong beers are causing English Down Syndrome.
Well, I think my recent law school graduate wife would hate it, but I might be able to make it fly. I still think it would be fun to do in Vegas though. Also leaves a place to stash the wife/SO.
Vegas is good by me. There are some stellar beer bars in Vegas, if memory serves me...I'd have to look them up.
Blue Frog

Crown & Anchor
Tip Top there's a really big beer bar in one of the casino's...do you know off the top of your head what it is? I'm drawing a blank...
Looks like Fro's here, he might know.
Only one I can think of that I have been to is the brewpub in the Monte Carlo, but the beer was nothing to write home about.

A recap of urbanhack and I's beer drinking tonight:

Started off with a couple of locally brewed pilsners.

Then we had sushi for dinner, and he had a Kirin (I think) and I had a Morimoto Black Obi Soba Ale (which I thought was good, but not as distinctive as I thought it would be).

Followed up at a bar with Hack having a Ayinger Bräu Weisse, a Unibroe Maudite, and an Avery White Rascal. I had a Foothills Seeing Double IPA ( a local beer), and a couple of Maudites.

Good times were had by all.
Quite tame by cornhole standards, but if yall are good friends and hang out often, no need to go all Homer J/Sacamano I guess.
We did that last night. :bag:

My research tells me that Vegas isn't the best place for beer. The best place for a beer cornhole would be the Great American Beer Festival in Denver in September. Colorado is a great beer state, and I have heard the festival is outstanding.
:drool:Id love to hit the GABF. Could be doable for me.

That sounds excellent for sure, there's just something about Vegas....Ask Bax about his first night there on our last trip.

I'm down for a GABF for sure. Vegas is nice because...well...its Vegas. But if its going to be a pure beer drinking extravaganza then perhaps we should avoid the Sin City. I have a tendency to not drink any beer and consume EVERY ELSE while I am there.

Slight exaggeration on my part. No nude girls, just a lot more drinking. This town is not a destination in Stripper Magazine.

You have to learn will power. That and if you are at a poker table at the MGM, you can get an brew that they serve at the Centerfuge Bar

Bax and I are going here next week. Should be fun. I was kind of hoping that I could get some Surly for the BIF package, but alas, they don't sell in anything less than a 5 liter keg.

I end up going to clubs, drinking whiskey and smoking cigars. A lot of redbull and vodka. A lot of everything else as well. Beer becomes my change of pace drink.

Minister is taking a really long time to tell us about Toronto beer. Perhaps he has a lot of good things to say?

:)
Haha .. I'm pretty blasted tonight on Creemore Springs Lager, Lakeport Pilsener (an OK decent discount brand) and my new-found DFH 60. My favourites are Creemore Springs Lager, King Pilsner, and St. Ambroise Pale Ale. When I'm in better shape soon I'll report on the Ontario brew scene.

Whhaaaaaaaa----hoooooooooooooooo!

Just poured THIS bad mamma-jamma --  Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree IPA. 13.6% ABV. Listed as a DIPA, but more like a TRIPLE IPA. Its surprisingly good, and the alcohol is masked with expert precision. Rated 90 over at BA, and well deserving of that rating.

Smells alot like a 90 minute mixed with a mild Dreadnaught. Lots going on there. Taste is juicy, Mouthfeel is oily, greasy, and chewy. Freakin HUGE beer. Lots of malts to go with lots of hops. Citrusy, grassy, floral, with a nice burn as it goes down, but without a boozy taste.

BIG thumbs up to Dark Horse for doing a great job brewing this massive brew.

:banned:
Some of Dark Horses's other beers get good reviews too. Any of the midwesternfolks have access to them? An Octoberfest in the 100% under style rating is something that interests me...
not available up by me.. but i can check around the state. see what's what.

Ok, HERE IT IS, in all its hoppy glory in my Weihenstephaner hefe glass (along with my cat, Sensi)

Smell is right on with west coast DIPAs.

Taste: I like it. Alot. I dont think the bitterness is over the top. Bitter Woman IPA had more bitterness. I think its got nice balance, and its also got that signature west coast flavah.

 Great beer!
Funny you should mention her......
:wall: Edited to add, add that to my want list too...
:wall: you shoulda said something

Then we had sushi for dinner
great date food
We got funny looks when we were feeding each other.
a Unibroe Maudite
how is this? i've seen three different Unibroue's here but they're on the spendy side.
I think its pretty good. Good malt backbone with the typical Belgian yeastiness but not overpowering. Unibroue makes several pretty good tasting representations of Belgians.

Big fan. La Fin Du Monde, Maudite, and Trois Pistoles are all really good brews. La Fin is still Top 50 over at BA, I believe.
All are good except for Raftsman and their Éphémère series which I really don't like. The Terrible is superb.

I've got a bottle of the 15 in my fridge that I haven't opened yet. Maybe tonight?

I'm having my first Stone RIS. Its a very good beer, but this ain't the #2 beer in the world. Not even close.

Suprisingly smooth, the 10.8% is hidden effectively. Creamy, sweet. Not too "big". Not a ton of roasted malts, and frankly not as complex and deep as some imperial stouts. Probably still too cold to be drinking, but by the time I get to the bottom it will be room temperature.

Its a very good beer. But those of you waiting patiently for your beer monger to get it, you can wait. I would rank Stormking and Speedway above it. I need to sample the Expedition again but it might be close.
:goodposting: Nothing to add. Got 3 bottles. I'll hang on to the other 2 until winter. Should be even smoother by then.

Tomorrow I'll be able to head to head the Stone, Storm King, and three others. Gotta do something while the pulled pork is smoking away and the draft is on. Quaffing a Carolina Doppelbock right now. Malty and smooooooth.

You're watching the draft tomorrow? Sweet.

Right now I'm having a Troegs Oatmeat Stout. Good stout. Not great, but I wouldn't be offended by drinking another one. Nice, easy drinking beer.

:D Let me know who the Niners pick up.

I don't know what to expect actually.

 You'll be surprised to learn that I have never actually tried it. I have a bottle here though.

found my Rogue Chocolate Stout tonite, also picked up a Bear Republic Pete's Brown and did some shopping for the Beer-it-Forward.... those beers shall remain nameless.

New Glarus Fat Squirrel for me tonight. Had three Summit Extra Pale Ales with dinner.

I had a couple of Hacker Pschorr's with dinner. After countless minutes at the liquor store for Mr. Furley, I brought home (which we are splitting):

-6-pack Great Lakes Brewing Dortmunder Gold

-6-pack Great Lakes Brewing Edmund Fitzgerald

-6-pack Three Floyds Alpha King

-6-pack Bell's Third Coast Ale

-6-pack Tyranena Rocky's Revenge Bourbon Brown

-2-Singles Samuel Smith's Nut Brown

I had a Third Coast and a Dortmunder. Both completely different, but very good beers.

Hope ya like everything, Mr. F!

Hey Fro, Im puttin together a list of beers Im gonna send out to ya next week....Did you say youve never had any Jolly Pumpkin brews?? If not Im gonna put one or 2 in there for sure...I gotta go back and see which ones Skylord liked the best...

Skylord can chime in with his recommendation on which ones he thinks you might like...Ive never tried em so I cant describe the taste of any of em...

Well neither of the three are hoppy...but I liked the white and amber the best. The gold was a decent but common triple.

Wingnut - no rush. Put whatever you think is good. Three Floyds is in beer dreams. After that its a house $$.

whenever - I have two cases of bombers and two other assorted cases in operation. Really its no rush.

I'm having a Farmhouse Oathouse IPA. Not bad, not great. Good session beer.
I like that bier. Solid crafted bier.
It is solid. Great nose. Not really complex but has a nice flavor and decently balanced.Judges give it a 3.6
Have you gotten your hands on the Drakes Expedition Ale yet. Top Notch.
I get most of the boring Drake beers. I do get the IPA & Imperial Stout but then the rest are the amber, blonde and hefe. The really high scoring beers haven't crossed my path yet (or my timing at Bevmo is poor). Quite a few beers listed I'd like to try by them.
