What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

Against my better judgement, I decided to give the Goose Island India Pale Ale a go tonight

Is there anything that Goose Island can't #### up?

Brooklyn Pennant Ale...it has the baseball on the label. Kinda tastes like really wet toast. Not too impressed. My 3 year old son picked it out. Lil' guy has a lot to learn about beer.

Their Oatmeal stout isnt bad and their Bourbon County Stout is exceptional. I hear the IIPA is great as well.
 the rest of their bottled lineup is just OK.
Agreed. Their regular lineup and seasonals are decent, but unspectacular. Their special brews are where it's at. The IIPA is my personal favorite, followed by the Matilda, Pere Jacques and Demolition. I tried the Bourbon County Stout a few weeks ago and it was just way too rich for my palate.

Can't remember that last time I posted here...but I'm drinking ALOTTA F'n BEER!

Not well known...but very well appreciated in closed circles.

Brooklyn Lager tonight. Good stuff.

Here's a note/rant to neighbour FBG beer lovers ...

I've lived in or near Toronto all my life. By far, the largest city and commercial center in this great country.

It's a near-universal belief here that Canadian beer is >>>>> American Beer.

Further, I've heard many Americans (Western NY mostly) speak with admiration of Canadian Beer.

Why? Our popular beers (Molson, Labatt) are slightly more alcoholic than their American peers (Bud, Bud, and Bud).

This mentality is like a brick wall to craft brewers getting any traction here. Flavourful, interesting beers just don't have a market.

Not so coincidentally the Brewers Retail Inc., which holds a monopoly on retail beer sales in Ontario, is owned by ... Molson and Labatt.

Then we have the other game in town, the government-run Liquor Control Board of Ontario - the world's largest buyer of alcohol.

Great if you love wine. To put it lightly, not so much for beer.

A few local craft brews, but they sure import the #### out of every crappy EuroLager imaginable. Shelves upon shelves.

I've had just a handful of American Craft Brews. Enjoyed every one.

What I would give for relatively convenient access to just a few of DFH, Rogue, Stone, Alesmith, Three Floyd's, Bear Republic, Great Divide, Sierra Nevada, Victory, etc.

Now I'm just getting mad! Rant over.

It's about 3 hours driving to Buffalo, and I will make a trip this year to buy some great beer.

From a Canadian FBG, here's a big thumbs up to American beer.

LandShark Lager...surprisingly pretty good...very American Budweiser genre but more refined, tad bit more alcohol...I think they brew it at Margarytiville in Jax, FL.

Shuke inspired me at the Cincy FBG Poker night a couple of weeks ago, so tonight.....I'm living the High Life.....on an internet message board trying not to type too loud. Good times.

Forgot to add this last night...

Otter Creek Copper Ale

"Otter Creek's Copper Ale is inspired by the Altbiers of Northern Germany. It's a medium-bodied, amber ale brewed with a proprietary house yeast strain. Look for a sweetbread nose balanced nicely by a pleasant, citrusy hop spiciness. Expect similar notes in the flavor, focusing on lightly sweet malts, with a flourish of apricot as it warms, capped by a balancing, mild bitterness. Overall, a very balanced ale that's easy to drink yet packed with flavor. Try it with wiener schnitzel and dumplings."

Not bad, but I guess I should have tried it with the dumplings....
