What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

Reapor Ale

Sleighor Double IPA

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This is one of the biggest hop bombs I have tasted. Good for what it is. You had better like hops. And I mean a lot.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
:excited: BRING EM ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

:pickle:

I think Ill put that one in the fridge for tonight :banned:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Fair warning though, Reaper Sleighor doesn't know the meaning of sweet malts.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
:headbang: I love an unbalanced hop bomb once in a while.

My mouth is watering just thinking about that description.

A few notable reviews snippets on Sleighor DIPA:

-- Taste is holy hoppy ####, batman. It whacks you up front with a smack to the taste buds and doesn't let up....

-- this is not for those people who like sweet, grapefruity double ipa's along the lines of dreadnaught and such. this is for people who like teeth-stripping, finish-removing big bitter maltbomb kickassness to their dipa's. this is one of those beers that you feel like more of a man for drinking, while your friend spits it out into the sink. p***y....This isn't the most 'balanced,' or 'smooth' dipa. like the hottest hot sauce, this is a rite of passage.. something that all fans of the genre must say they tried once...

-- the malt backing is laughable

-- Very hoppy, pine-grass-orangepeely in a way, blasts your tongue with hop bullets, no getting around that

-- It's apparent that Reaper Ales has a thing for hops. Good, so do I. This one seemed to start out with some degree of balance, but the hoppiness wore down the maltiness in a classic battle of attrition. If you aren't a card-carrying member of 'Hop Heads For Life', this may not be the beer for you. If you are, then saddle up because Sleighor has what you're looking for.

From the "Did you know?" beer fact archives...Reaper Ales (maker of the Sleigher DIPA) is brewed and bottled by the Green Flash brewco in San Diego.

I think I know the guy who wrote the bolded part above.

Just finished a Bell's Two Hearted Ale. Very good IPA. Pours a fairly light color, which threw me off guard, but everything else about it said IPA. Good stuff.

I'm off to my Deschutes brewery tasting at the beer store. Hopefully the brewers will bring some interesting beers not available here in southern Cali.

Weird. I picked up a few half liters of Schneider Hefe's on the way home. I figured I'd have one of those, then have dinner and crack open the St. Bernardus Abt 12. Instead, somehow I went to an Old Chub followed by a Racer 5. Not that I'm complaining.

St Bernardus would probably be enough for a good buzzat least it was for me :bag:

UBU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And after that, MORE UBU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta love a malty 7.2% brew in the middle of the mountains in upstate NY. Whoever gets my BIF, and if I include this in the BOTM, please drink an IPA or other hoppy beer beforehand - it'll highlight the Ubu's complex malty attributes that much better. This is direct from the brewer's wife.

Umm, yeah, I'm f'ed up. :) :) :) :) :)

This is something I'm excited about

June - Saturday 6/24/06 Real Ale Anniversiary PartyCelebrating their 10th anniversary, newly expanded brewing facilities and brewing with Pierre Celis.Keep an eye out for this event.

Damn. :kicksrock: And most of the Jolly Pumpkins are going right back out in a trade for a few of the Alesmiths, Ballast Points, and Stone RIS.

And as much as it pains me, the Dread is reserved for Fro, as well as a couple of Bells Expeditions. So its not technically all mine to consume, but its fun to list em anyway

Yeah, I listed them when I was thinking about what people must think when they come over and I offer a beer. They ask, "what do you have?". I feel like I need to make up a menu.

:lmao: Be glad you know people who will help you drink some of em. Im the only beer snob thats ever at my house, so everyone that comes over is afraid of my beers. Like about a month ago I busted out a bomber of Arrogant ******* when a buddy was over (he was drinking the Bud Select), and I swear he started to sweat when I tried to talk him into trying it. The smell alone made him quiver in fear.

Damn I need some friends who arent afraid of taste. :kicksrock:

I really only have one friend who enjoys a good beer, Bax. But I have gotten one of the monday night poker guys to start to enjoy Hopdevil, so we are making progress.

I could throw some real competition when it comes to beer inventory right now, but I can't say what I have. Between buying a sixer of everyting I sent out in the BIF, and getting some beer from Tip Top, I have plenty.

I just had a Moylan's Kiltlifter. Solid beer. Not my favorite style, but they do a good job with it.

Moylan's Kiltlifter. Can't you read? :D

I gotta tell ya, I dig the Sleighor IIPA. Its bitter as hell, but good nonetheless. Im actually getting a tad more malt now that its about room temp - its taken me almost an hour to finish it off.Think Ill go with a Red Rocket Ale next. One of my all time favorites.

I wish I woulda chilled the Stone Smoked Porter for tonight....Whats your take on it?

I've got a pretty crazy inventory right now too, but I am far too lazy to go posting it. And I don't have my laptop here and I don't plan on running back and forth between fridges and computer.

GB having my beer fridge and boxes in my rumpus room, along with my laptop. Rumpus. I like that word, if it is in fact a word.Had I posted my inventory a few days ago it would have been a bit bigger, but I just sent out a few trades...

Of all the beers in my house at any given time, only about 60-70% are mine - the rest are trade bait.

I wish I woulda chilled the Stone Smoked Porter for tonight....Whats your take on it?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Despite what wine boy, proninja, thinks, it's a very good brew. It isn't as smoked as some (like Alaskan Smoked Porter), but it is a nice beer. Good sipping beer. One of my top 20 favorites.
