What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

This beer is goooood. I really want to try their Mosaic IIPA.
Anytime you want more Pipeworks let me know.Haven't tried any of the single hops but guess I should.
Really? Citra is my favorite by far but I haven't had a bad one yet.
For awhile I imposed a ban on buying bombers.

Then I realized that was stupid. So I would occasionally buy Ninja vs unicorn and blood of the unicorn but usually passed on the rest.

It wasn't until I was picking up some PW for Ilov80s that I realized how many of these I have never had. So lately I have been trying to make up for lost time. Since then I've tried Sam vs Unicorn and Unicorn hits rock bottom.

In the fridge I have another rock bottom, cherry truffle abduction and raspberry truffle abduction.

I know they recently released citra Ninja but I never saw it on the shelves. I see simcoe all of the time. Looks like I have homework.

Citra is the most delicious hop there is, IMO.
I'll see if I can get some Abrasive when it is released. If you haven't tried it,pretty sure you will enjoy that one. Canned awesome.

Cherry and raspberry are very good, prefer raspberry by just a hair though. I honestly have had only one PW beer that I didn't care for. The big issue with PW is with their growth in popularity their price tag is also growing. As for the Ninja series Citra is the most popular and a lot of places have started to limit the # you can buy. If I run across a Citra Ninja I'll grab it for you though.

Surly? I have a connection that works at the brewery...I should hit him up.I'm a big fan of Mosaic too...its got a weed-like dankness that is awesome. I've got some Mosaic hop pellets that I plan to use for a single hop beer...every time I smell em I wanna do a bong hit of em. Lol

Yep surly. Released in December I think.

Galaxy is pretty damn good too.

Wat?I love single hop beers...Multi hopped beers are fine but single really let's the hop shine and let's you get feel/taste for it.
I do too. I just see it quite often so I tend to pass for other things.

I feel shame now.

I can't bring myself to pass on any single hop Citra beer. If I see one, its going home with me...Mosaic is a close 2nd.

I feel bad for dudes in Texas. I've never been to a state with worse beers than here. All the TX beers Ive tried (well over a dozen) are weak, watered down, sorry tasting miller lite clones. I've had double IPAs that taste like water. What is wrong with you people? This is seriously a crap beer zone. Pure ####.

The only excellent beer i had was a double IPA, Rodeo Clown, out of Houston. Highly recommend it.

I meant the simcoe. If I see the citra, I agree...I am grabbing that one.

I am going on a mission today so who knows what I run into. Maybe the beer gods will be nice and I can find a case of Harvest Ale. Or at least a 4-pack.

Southern Star Pine Belt was better than average.

Looks like Founders Harvest is in Chicagoland. I have a mission tomorrow.
We have a liquor store here that used to be really popular, owners sold it and place went to hell. Originals owners bought it and are bringing it back, but have embraced craft beer heavily. I have seen more PW there than anywhere else so I am going to see if they have Harvest as well today!

Already told the wife I have a mission today so clearance from the tower granted. Need to finish up some work and it's hunting time.

I love Pipeworks' saisons too. Saison poivre
Interesting. Is it strong on the the black pepper flavor?
I just looked this up, I had the name wrong. It's Pipeworks Poivre du Sichuan. It's heavy on the pepper but I love peppery saisons.

Ratebeer description: "Continuing our theme of Saisons brewed with peppercorns, Poivre du Sichuan is brewed with Szechuan peppercorns, coriander, pink peppercorns, ginger and ornage peal. Fermented using a French Saison yeast, the result is a blend of citrus and floral notes with a unique kick from the Szechuan peppercorns. We hope you’ll enjoy this unique take on a traditional beer. Batch 24 - Released 8/2/12"

I don't know if it's been released since but I've had at least 2 bottles of it that I don't think were the same batch.

The only time I ever get Pipeworks though is when I'm in Chicago...always grab a bunch of bring home.

I like this beer a lot. Usually pick some up on the rare occasion that I see it. I've found it in Nashville, too.

Deep Ellum had some solid beers during my trip to Dallas last year. Dallas Blonde was my favorite but they had some other solid ones. Very cool spot too, nice little beer garden.

512 Brewing in Austin was pretty good too. I had a few of their IPA in Austin after the UT game. A very well-done, but basic, IPA.

My reviews also said I liked Peticolas Velvet Hammer. I don't know anything else about that brewery other than it's in Dallas, though.

Interesting as the Szechuan peppercorn isn't at all related to black pepper or chili peppers. I will have to keep a look out for it in the future as I love PW and saisons.

Right that's why I didn't say it was heavy on the black pepper. It's different but definitely "peppery". Not spicy though, at least not that I can recall. Haven't had it in a long time.

I know they get a ton of hype from their IPAs, and rightfully so (Ninja vs. Unicorn is an all-time favorite for me) but their saisons are very good too, IMO.

Got my beer-it-forward package from Long Ball Larry the other day, just opened it.

Russian River Damnation

Round Guys Fear of a Brett Planet

Operation Homefront IPA

Troegs Scratch 161

Never had any of these. The 2 cans were stacked on top of each other, hence getting 4 beers from a 3-bottle shipper. I've had Damnation #23 but never regular. The Fear of a Brett Planet is a 100% brett pale ale. Excited for all of these

I'll come up with some kind of trivia game for the next leg of the journey.

Well, went to about 5 or 6 places and no Harvest Ale. It's out in the farther reaches of Chicago (Champaign, Manteno, and to some extent Naperville) so they expect it coming in this week in our area.

Picked up a Dark Penance though. Haven't tried that one yet.

Good luck, all the places out here have said that the shipment was delayed and it's not expected until next week or the following week.

A buddy of mine has some PW Square Grouper, trying to convince him to sell me one of the two he has.

I'm not a fan of the DP. I don't usually like Black IPAs, but the Artist Inspired BIPA that Founders did last year was outstanding so I was hopeful that DP would be similar. It isn't. Have you gotten any Mosaic? That's the Artist Inspired beer for 14 and it's damn good. I can send you some and some Harvest if you strike out.

I was told to expect it Thursday and wouldn't you know it....I think I have to work from home on Thursday...

But I will definitely take you up on that offer if I do strike out.

And yes, I have had Mosaic. It's pretty good. Really light. Would be perfect for cutting the grass.

So I went to go try and find Square Grouper at my PW spot. Ended up getting Cinnnamon Beer D O's and felt shamed into getting Simcoe Ninja (kidding).

Unloading groceries and putting a pork shoulder into the freezer and had the bag with the 2 bombers in it in the same hand. Bag slips out of my fingers and $23 down the drain. Well, all over the garage floor and in the garbage anyway.

More upset about dropping the Cinnamon. The other is easily replaced. #### happens.

And now maybe I will open a beer to drown my sorrows.

Man there is a ton of that BeerD Os out by me.

We used to have plenty of places that sell Pipeworks but for some reason it is in less stores. The stores that do carry it tend to carry a ton. However they only had one of those left.

How good is it? My garage smells great.

That's the one that I was talking about last night. Bought one last night, liked it enough to buy two more today. I can grab you a bottle tomorrow if they still have some and you want me to.

Drinking the Sensi harvest from sixpoint. Decent. But it's 4.7 abv and a "session" beer and those tend to be meh.

Might need to go with a Furious and choose a bomber after that. Before I drop the ####### thing on the floor.

Just poured my last Brew Bus Last Stop IPA, and I haven't seen any in a while...I hope they brew more soon, its one of my favorite locals.

I liked that one a lot too.Oh that reminds me I still have that oak aged jai alai. Next!
Sweet, just called CCB and they have the Last Stop back in stock...which means it should be back in stores soon if I can't get to the brewery.Driving up to Charlotte next weekend, gonna pick up a bunch of Hop Drop and Wicked Weed beers, as well as anything else cool I can find.

Wicked weed is another I haven't had. Not saying, just saying.

PW Cherry Truffle Abduction sooooo tasty.

I really need to branch out from PW, but every time I am at the store I wind up with half dozen bombers and never get around to grabbing anything else.

What else did you get?

Thinking of moving away from the hops and cherry truffle sounds tempting. That or Broodoo is next.

Today just got the two BeerD Os, but every time I go I get whatever sounds good. Typically I wind up with a couple of new beers that just came out since they brew so many different beers. I still have a bottle of Unicorn hits rock bottom that is calling my name.

BeerD Os next for me. I wonder how well that will stay good on the shelf, it's not an IPA but it's still an Ale.

LolMost bottled WW beers are sours I believe..I'd love to find their Freak of Nature DIPA on tap somewhere.

Also just found a couple bottle shops in SC I'll be stopping at, they carry Foothills, Westbrook, Victory, Lagunitas Sucks, Coast, and other stuff I can't get here...
