What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (9 Viewers)

I think I had the reg Breakfast stout years ago but I'm not 100%..IIRC it was good.
It's a coffee and chocolate loaded masterpiece of a stout. Maybe not quite your thing, but it's one of those beers that anyone that likes good beers should have. It's my go to on Sunday for football. One of the rare beers that is easily accessible and completely perfect.

Might have located some Coast Brewing Boy King DIPA and HopArt IPA in Columbia SC. Will stop on may way home and hopefully pick some up.

Also found a place in Charlotte that has Foothills Jade IPA and Wicked Weed Freak of Nature DIPA in growlers.

On top of the NoDa and Westbrook beers I'm looking to get, this trip is gonna be very Beery.
18th Street makes a good jade hopped beer. I'm a fan.

Even though I have plenty of beer, had to pick up some zombie dust, alpha king and what seems to be new around these parts ...Maine Brewing Another One Ipa. I have seen a few other Maine but not this one, Lunch or Dinner.
What other Maine Co beers are you seeing? And if you see 18th Street Deal With The Devil, try it...although I don't think they bottle it, it might be rotating at the brewery only.
Red Wheelbarrow

Peeper

Going to try both now. Another One was really good.

Well...the cellared Miller Lite really shined through in this one. Clear golden color so you can tell the whirlfloc really cleans this one up. And the triple hops....kidding.

I split both of these with my brother who also appreciates good beer. I preferred Heady slightly over Pliny. So did he. Both are great beers but it's hard to call either the #1 or #6 best beer overall when there is so much greatness out there. Of course a lot of that is subjective.

The other day I met a guy from Grand Rapids that was big on the beer scene there. He said a few months ago Founders did an unpublicized barrel aged event that featured a few maple barrel aged beers. They wouldn't use the CBS name, but he was pretty confident it was a test run for a new CBS to be mass released in the next year or so. I have heard this rumor so I am optimistic. That will be the release of the year if it happens. CBS was one of the best beers I have ever had by a wide margin.
This would be awesome. Haven't had CBS but am a big fan of the regular Breakfast Stout.

Haven't tried KBS yet but have one in the fridge.

Yeah Breakfast Stout is very good, the other one that I love is Neapolitan Milk Stout from Saugatuck.

2013 KBS will disappoint. After having this year's breakfast stout I'm excited for 2015 kbs. 2014 Breakfast stout has a lot more coffee, chocolate and just a bigger flavor than last year. I found last year's to be thin and just more watered down.

Did you get the Heady through a trade on here? I would love to get a hold of one.

Haven't had it yet. A lot of people describe strawberry flavor as too artificial. Get any of that?

Friend of mine might be picking me up a case while he's out east the next few weeks. Pm me

I haven't had it since last year but don't recall thinking that. I got a 6 pack of it for my birthday and liked it so much I went and got more.

I did.

Made a few trades through here, mostly to try local stuff we can't get here. Was lucky enough to run into Heady I guess. I find it easier to trade with people in here because they generally cut through the hysteria and just want to do the same I sought out to do...get stuff that's generally not available in their market and enjoy good beer.

I guess there is a little bit of hypocrisy in that I was looking for Pliny and Heady to some extent but what I learned is that some of the others you don't know about are as good as the highly hyped beers. For example I really liked Hop Drop, Crank,Jai Alai, and Huma Lupa. Boo Koo was outstanding as well. All different styles but I am glad I had a chance to try them and I think I enjoyed these more than the hyped up beers.

That's really my ultimate goal, trying a lot of different really good beer. One of the main reasons I love Pipeworks so much, almost constant variations. :deadhorse:

Yup the big boys are great to get but there's so many surprisingly fantastic beers out there, its awesome to try something you didn't think was gonna blow you away and then it does.

So headed to Asheville...had no idea til we were on the road...guess I'm gonna be hitting Wicked Weed and whatever else is close by.

Tried a bunch of wicked weed beers...about 10 of them...got a growler of Freak of Nature DIPA to go...gonna have a Hop Drop or 3 before heading out for some kick ### BBQ @ Macs Speed Shop...

Is everything Growlers? Can you order single beers? What is the difference between this and say BrassTap that will put any beer on tap in a growler?

Cherry Lager, a seasonal by Lakefront Brewery in WI, is fantastic. Sweet-tart cherry finish that's just perfect. Way better than SA Cherry Wheat imo.

Growlers, flights and samples. Of course the beer I went there to get kicked halfway through my growler fill..Having a NoDa Jam Session Pale Ale at a place called Cabo Fish Taco while I wait for NoDa brewery (a mile down the street) to open at 4pm...

Just lucked out like a Mofo...found some.Maine Beer Co's Lunch IPA at a Total Wine in Columbia, SC...there was a one bottle per customer limit but I talked the beer guy into selling me 2. So awesome.

I'm bringing back a bunch of great beer...I'll post a list later...this trip was nothing short of epic as far as beer goes.

Unfortunately no...Columbia was my last beer stop, just stopped in Savannah GA for gas, I'm about halfway home.

3 Floyd's Permanent Funeral. I really liked it before when I had the beer Ditka sent me. Having a second one and I think this is really one of the best DIPAs that I have ever had. 3F is ungodly good.

Finally home. Seemed like forever to get here.

And to keep with the thread, having a Cigar City Citra Pale Ale and then heading to bed.

Are those Maine beers 500 mL or 22 oz? The ones we get here are 500 mL. Just wondering.

Lunch usually sells out within an hour around here whenever someone gets it.

That's a great trip!

Felt like a daytime beer so I decided to try a Westbrook Gose.

This is maybe the 5th or 6th Gose I've tried. Super refreshing with a nice combo of salty and tart/sour. Beats out Rapp as my favorite Gose so far.

I wish I would have found more than 3 cans. Good stuff.

Love that beer and wish I could get it locally.

So I couldn't wait any longer...had to try my first home brew after 2 weeks in the bottle (Citra IPA)...holy crap its better than I expected!!

Poured a hazy amber with a nice head...it finished a bit darker than I was going for, but no big deal...smells absolutely delicious...a Citra bomb for sure. Tastes like it smells...pure Citra with a nice sweetness, and pretty good lacing as I drink it. It still needs a week or so to round out, as its still a bit green, but hot damn this beer is pretty close to what I was going for. I'm gonna tweak the recipe a bit to give it more IBUs but for a first brew I couldn't be happier!

Citra IPA

Original Gravity 1.060

Final Gravity 1.011

ABV 6.4%

SRM: about 13
