What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

I just grabbed a bottle of Firestone Walker's Eighteenth Anniversary Ale at my local liquor store. If you haven't had any of Firestone Walker's Anniversary Ales, I highly recommend keeping an eye out for the release. The brewery brings together California winemakers who help blend a bunch of their highly renowned barrel-aged beers together, which always results in a truly unique, complex, and delicious creation. This year's version consists of 38% Parabola, Firestone's bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout (100 score on BeerAdvocate), which should be an awesome base for the Eighteenth Anniversary Ale.

I have one that will be held for me as soon as it gets to my bottle shop! Interested to try it....seems like a crazy blend of stuff. Per Beeradvocate:

38% Parabola (bourbon barrel aged Russiant imperial stout),

16% Helldorado (bourbon and brandy barrel aged blond barleywine),

16% Bravo (bourbon and brandy barrel aged brown ale),

14% Stickee Monkey (bourbon and brandy barrel aged quad),

5% Velvet Merkin (bourbon barrel aged oatmeal stout),

4% Hydra Cuvée (a blend too much of a mouthful to describe here),

3% Wookey Jack (black IPA),

2% OP Leghorn (English barleywine, collaboration with Three Floyds, aged in fresh barrels),

2% Double Jack (Double IPA)

So i am a big fan of fat tire, ended up picking up a case of New Belguims variety pack last night and ended up drinking the whole thing. Ranger is a pretty good IPA and im not a big IPA drinker.

So I ran into some Unsessionable tonight but it had a date of 11/3/14 on the bottom of the can. Think it's still good and would still be good in my fridge for a week or two?
As long as that is the canned date, not the "best by" date. Some breweries do best by dates. Hate those.
Think with Rev it's a best by date....since the other cans of Fistmas had Feb 4 2015 on them.
Rev is the brewed on date.

Odd, I checked some Anti-Hero and Fistmas, both had Feb 2015 dates on them.

Regardless, the Unsessionable is outstanding. Glad I found some this year and I may go and grab another 6 pack tomorrow.

I've heard the only difference between a DIPA and barleywine is time, and I tend to agree. I think it's fun to try these big DIPAs fresh, then see how they change over time, but I love sipping on big beers. Give one of these a year then drink it at cellar temp and you'll have a totally different beer.

I'm in Ft. Collins this week getting spoiled on great beers I can't normally get. Oaked Yeti atm and lots of other good stuff in the fridge. Got an escape planned tomorrow to hit a dispensary then meet a local friend for a tour at Odell.

Maybe the only difference between a bad DIPA and a bad barleywine. I love a good barleywine, and I obviously love good DIPAs. They shouldn't resemble each other in the slightest. But you are right that they sometimes do. Unfortunately on both counts.

Picked up my bottle of Firestone Walker XVIII anniversary tonight. Do I let it age or drink it? Won't be tonight though. Drinking my first unsessionable, likely going to be a few more since I picked up another 6 pack of it when I picked up the XVIII

If I have time I'm going to swing by Proclamation Ale to pick up two growlers of their 1.5 IPA which is by far the best beer ever brewed in the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
