What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (7 Viewers)

Deschutes NW Pale Ale and now a Palate Wrecker that has went down way too fast. Long week, first time I have ever been drinking due to stress over a high school student council election. I can't even believe I am really this worried about it.

big fan

Brewery Vivant Solitude Abbey Style Ale. It's a Michigan brewery trying to do original Belgium style beers. Solid effort.

You guys are making me thirsty. I won't be able to get anything until tomorrow. We only have one good beer store within 100 miles. It only has 5 or 6 on tap but lots of bottles.

why is it that I always crave chocolate and ice cream after drinking beer? it's weird
That is weird. I don't think those mix at all.
I know, they shouldn't. And eating ice cream with beer in your belly is a witches brew.
IDK about ice cream. But I love chocolate w/beer.
I agree, with the right beers, dark chocolate compliments it. Milk chocolate isn't as good and ice cream sounds really odd. That's just me though, we don't control our cravings.

Angry Orchard Crisp Apple

Not beer, but I don't think we have a cider thread.
Those things taste like old lady makeup smells
Disagree. Cider can be just as good and complex as beer, Angry Orchid is a good one.
I make a couple batches of German-style hard cider every year. Its great to have for summer parties; very easy-drinking tasty stuff at about 8-9% abv.

None of you guys have ever had a beer float? A scoop of vanilla in a stout or porter is awesome. A lot of places around here do it.

I've almost made rhat recipe a bunch of times. Always end up reading too much and leaning towards the shrub then not doing either. Do you use the edwort one as it's written there?

Totally agree. One of the most amazing desserts I've ever had was a Great Divide Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti imperial stout with Ben and Jerry's creme brûlée ice cream. Great combination.

I got a growler of Mexican Chocolate Stout from a brewery called Copper Kettle in Denver tonight. It is a pretty phenomenal beer. It won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 2011. Here's the description:

A RICH BLACK ALE WITH DARK ROASTED MALT FLAVORS BLENDED WITH BITTERSWEET CHOCOLATE, OUR OWN BLEND OF THREE MEXICAN CHILI PEPPERS AND CINNAMON. INSPIRED BY A 500 YEAR OLD AZTEC RECIPE FOR MEXICAN HOT CHOCOLATE.

It would probably be great with vanilla bean ice cream now that I think of it.

3rd anniversary of my local pizza port. Got there right after last call so was only able to do 3 quick ones. ####### love that place.

I've pretty much stuck to the recipe exactly as written, but a couple of my neighbors have tried some variation. One used a trappist beer yeast rather than the Montrachet on a batch and and got a great flavor.

Big Eye has its own qualities but Sculpin>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Big Eye

Big Eye is still good however

Lagunitas Sucks again
Agreed. Overrated. The best thing about drinking it is the bulldog mason jar it's served in.

Tried Anderson Valley Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout tonight, meh. Disappointing.
:bag: I didn't know that was a beer. I'll check it out, but I stand by my comment that Lagunitas IPA is overrated (still love the serving glass)Had some Half Acre Daisy Cutter tonight, pretty solid. A nice pale ale for those who aren't into a strong hoppy beer.
