What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (5 Viewers)

Picked up a sixer of Dogfishhead India Brown Ale. Never had it. But, it sounds great.

Trying to decide whether to drink it over the remainder of the week or save it all for the destruction of UCLA by Oregon at 4 on Saturday when I'll really need a lot of alcohol.

Too lazy to search this thread but has anyone in the northern IL area tried "Not my father's root beer"? Brewed by a small outfit in Wauconda, IL, they make batches at 10% and 20% ABV. Pretty dangerous stuff. Impossible to detect any traces of alcohol.

Founder's Harvest Ale

the hype on this over done IMO. Good beer. But it's just too thin and bitter for me. Not sure I'll seek this out next year.

Oh and I broke a bottle of Sculpin when it fell from my grocery bag in my garage. Very said except my garage smelt wonderful.

Tommyknocker brewers pack, the Lemongrass infused wheat is not good, like a shandy gone wrong. The Hop Strike Black IPA is amazing.

In Charlottesville VA for Pearl Jam tomorrow night.

Starr Hill Northern Lights IPA -- Charlottesville, VA -- I just wanted something local to celebrate the first PJ show in 4 years but this beer is excellent. Smooth, subdued hopiness and really drinkable.

Abita Turbodog -- one of my go-to's

Arcobrau lager -- nice lighter bodied German lager, good contrast from these others

Paulaner Octoberfest -- a good German Octoberfest beer does not mean you're about to drink a frigging pumpkin pie.

I'm drinking Victory's new DirtWolf imperial IPA. I actually like it a lot better than Victory's old Hop Wallop imperial IPA. I'd say that it is more of a West Coast-style IPA with some big tropical, pine, and grassy hops, but with a dry bready, biscuity German malt backbone. I'm a fan.
I do not like it more than Hop Wallop (which has sadly been discontinued), but it is still a very good beer.

Finally got my hands on Smutty's Big A. I liked that better than Dirtwolf.

Drinking Coors Light tonight, celebrating with some parents of my students after a very successful Powder Puff football game fundraiser. It tastes pretty good after all the work a nice 2k in profit.

I got a pretty nice selection of beer at a liquor store in Florida today:

Ballast Point Sculpin IPA

Founders Breakfast Stout

Founder Harvest Ale

Terrapin Mosaic Rye Ale

I am going to try to find some Cigar City before I leave, but I haven't seen any yet.

Moon Man

Daisy Cutter

Tallgrass Ethos

Ballas Point Big Eye (canned)

I know there is a lot of love for Sculpin but canned Big Eye is becoming a big favorite of mine. Especially since it is $5 less a sixer.

Alternating bottles of Racer 5 with 24oz cans of original Coors

Watching WSOP headsup

I had a few really nice beers last night:

Goose Island Juliet sour wild ale - This is a rye ale aged in Cabernet Sauvignon oak barrels with blackberries and Brettanomyces. Juliet is supposed to be the most sour of Goose Island's wild ale offerings, and I think it lived up to its reputation. It was very tart and sour with flavors of blackberries, lemon, red wine, raspberries, oak, and some Brett funk. It was a real treat.

Terrapin Dos Cocoas chocolate porter - This is a chocolate porter brewed with cocoa powder and then aged on fresh cocoa nibs. This chocolate porter wasn't terribly complex, but I thought it did a really nice job of highlighting the fresh cocoa flavors. It made for a great dessert beer after a nice dinner.

I need to go get a good beer - any ideas???
Sierra Nevada Celebration is out now, that's a yearly favorite of mine. It's hoppy, so depends in your tastes.
Ah good call, I know a place that serves that actually - have a good weekend.
You too...I have been inspired to get a 6 pack myself.
