What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Modern times blazing world

Bells hopslam

Almanac farmers reserve pluot
Two Cali only beers and a midwest beer that was released in January...

Hopslam sucks, but you can't judge t based on what you had tonight.
Wat
Yeah, I don't get that either.

I think a few people might disagree with you (including me).
Hoppy as hell.
That's all I need to know :X

You and Sebowski are polar opposites. He says it's not hoppy enough. You would hate it.

I'm pretty sure he makes his mind up on what beers he likes based on geography.
Nope. Styles tend to differ just a bit based on geography though, and I do prefer the West Coast/San Diego style IPAs. No crystal malts whatsoever, please, and dry hopped to the bajeesus. Hop Slam smells like cat piss. We did a completely blind DIPA tournament last year and Hop was in the bottom third. Too malty and I hate the smell. I kept getting some sent to me as extras in trades a few years ago and just left one in the fridge for over a year. It was much better that way. Just like a light barley wine.

Unfortunately, we haven't really figured out the barley wine out here yet. Most have way too many hops. Old Numbskull is the only good one made locally.

Good to hear the Proprietors is still doing well. Pretty sure they projected it was gonna fade fast, so it was a "drink now" BCS variant. At least I think that was the Proprietors...maybe the Bramble? I think it was the Proprietors that they said that though. I've only had a taster of it.

Been drinking through a case since January and had a couple stragglers to finish off. Most certainly does not suck, but way overhyped. This year particularly sweet

Love some modern times

Firestone Sucaba/Abacus?! The Hangar barrel rolls are pretty good too

At Rapp brewery in Seminole, FL now...sampling Berliner Weisse, Hefeweizen, Munich Dunkel, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout.

This brewery is LEGIT.

Next flight @ Rapp:

Rapp *******

Black IPA

Irish Red

Maple Wheat Bock

God I wish I lived closer to this brewery.

Between here, Cigar City, and Cycle Brewing in St Pete, Tampa Bay finally has some serious players in the craft beer game...unfortunately Rapp and Cycle will probably stay small scale and won't bottle/can their beers...

However...I'm picking up a couple of growlers @ Rapp to ship to a FBG and the bartender is capping them so they make the trip with no leakage...ya gotta love that.

Cycle Brewery in St Pete:

Trixie session IPA

Batch 22 IPA

Both: WOW.

Anyone who visits Tampa Bay and wants excellent beer needs to put Cigar City (of course), Rapp, and Cycle on their must visit list.

Doug, the head brewer at Cycle, worked at Cigar City for years before going in his own with Cycle.

Lol...finding/picking up beers for a trade I did with a fellow FBGer...its got me back into the craft game...

My fridge is full of growlers, crowlers, and limited releases right now...I see my beer gut making a comeback if I'm not careful. Lol

Thank you. I would like this 10x if I could. What's the lineup like?
The lineup seems to change slightly for each Migration Week event. In Denver this week, they have generally been doing a tap takeover with their flagship beers, their Sisters line of wild ales (Juliet, Lolita, Gillian, Halia, Matilda Lambicus, etc.), and a couple variations of their Bourbon County line (BCBS, BC Coffee, BC Vanilla, and/or Proprietor's). Goose Island has been posting the lineup for each event on their Facebook page a day or two before the event.

My local World of Beer franchise just announced that they are doing a Goose Island Bourbon County event tomorrow. They are tapping kegs of 2012 Bourbon County, 2012 Bourbon County Coffee, and 2013 Proprietor's Bourbon County (Chicago only release). I'm super pumped about the Proprietor's release because I didn't think I was ever going to get to try it. I will definitely be taking a Lyft home tomorrow night.
godspeed

Thank you, I will be there in Ann Arbor when they come.

:lmao:

Out of likes for the day :-(

But basically, yes. Pliny is overrated too though :oldunsure: Still awesome, but I see it all the time at Pizza Port and always skip it. I like to call it Pliny the Settler. I think their best year round hoppy beer is Row 2 Hill 56.

I drink most IPAs on tap or out of growlers. Fresh is best and local is king. Anything from Alpine or the Pizza Ports are my first choices with Neslon being my A numero uno.

Cool. I was really just wondering how those 3 beers are in the same fridge especially considering how old the Hop Slam is. Didn't see your location and/or was too drunk at the time of posting. You must have some friends out here.

Barrel aged is a whole different genre. I haven't really liked the Barrel Rolls. Too West Coast-y. Hoppy and hot.

Bigfoot and Old Foghorn are actually great too though. I think I was thinking specifically of San Diego when I posted. Old Foghorn might be one of the most underrated beers of all time.

I recently learned that guiness has HFCS. Now I dont know what to drink.

Whats a good strong beer without sweeteners that is widely available and wont break the bank?

I'm really enjoying big brown, nutty ales lately.

Had a couple of Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectars and a Piney River Black Walnut Wheat (Missouri) last night. Preferred the Rogue...little smoother and nuttier.

I just bought a russian beer called Baltika

Its disgusting. A poorly done version of guiness stout

Only $2.50 a pint so no biggie. It will still get the job done

Was gonna drink a sixer of Surly Furious but learned that there was some niacin in there. Not sure what to drink now. Might just butt funnel the Surly any how

Just got back from LA on business, but lots of LA and SF buddies. West coast is the best coast for beer. We've got some tasty locals though here in the Carolinas (NoDa, Westbrook, Coast, others).
