What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Went to an Evil Twin tasting on Wednesday. Good beers but really not much to write home about.

They did have a Unity Bourbon Barrel Peach Kombucha Beer that was exceptional.

And my first taste of Westbrook Mexican Cake. Only got like 6 oz (2 pours), but it was glorious. Believe the hype. One of the local places got a keg of it, apparently...they're planning some sort of special event....I hope to be there.
Is that Unity as in the Ypsilanti brewery?Did they have the bourbon barrel aged Biscotti by any chance?

Yes. This is the name:

Unity Vibration Kombucha Bourbon Peach American Wild Ale(per Ratebeer)

Smelled like straight up vinegar, which kinda got me excited, but the taste was super mellow. Very sweet, kinda fruity but not killer. Really a nice beer/kombucha/whatever it was.

I'll have to check that out. I went to college in Ypsi, still live like 20 mins away.

Love westbrook. Mexican cake is awesome but BA Mexican cake is next level

Sad news tonight, Westbrook head brewer and 3 assistants leaving...disgruntled with owner and having to do too much contract brewing

Had some of this last night, great stuff. Fresh on tap no less.

Ypres - De Struise BrouwersOud Bruins, not restricted to, but concentrated in Flanders, are light to medium-bodied, deep copper to brown in colour. They are extremely varied, characterized by a slight vinegar or lactic sourness and spiciness to smooth and sweet. A fruity-estery character is apparent with no hop flavor or aroma. Low to medium bitterness. Very small quantities of diacetyl are acceptable. Roasted malt character in aroma and flavor is acceptable, at low levels. Oak-like or woody characters may be pleasantly integrated into overall palate.

Which Evil Twin beers did you taste?

I Love You with My Stout, Auld Yin, Double Barrel Jesus, and the Bellhop Porter are my favorites but don't really care for the Imperial Doughnut Break

If I could get any more of the Double Barrel Jesus I would love that.

I don't recall all of the names. There were 7 or 8 of them. Low Life, Freudian Slip, a couple of smoked beers, Lil B. Nothing wrong with any of them, but kinda all on the same level of the other Evil Twin beers I've had - good beers for sure, but priced a little too high IMO.

Killed that growler of Community Beer Works Singularity: Chinook IPA.

Bigfoot 2013 now for the fights tonight. Drinking very good (or is it well? ) right now.

today's lineup:

paulaner oktoberfest marzen

grilling brats and knocks for lunch. dinner... jagerschnitzel mit herbed spaetzle

I haven't checked in here in a while, so it took a minute to catch up on all of wing nuts Tampa beer sampling list. Definitely more than a few I need to try.

CCB maduro is always in my fridge. I love it. Also a big fan of their Tocabaga when I feel like going hoppy.

My past 2 visits to my local Fresh Market I grabbed a Florida Brewing Gaspar's Porter & Brew Bus Summer Wheat. They were both good enough to get again.

Love CCB Maduro.

Tried a Florida Brewing Co Southernmost Wheat Friday night. labeled as a Wit w/spices and key lime.

In a word? Drainpour. Maybe the worst beer I've ever tried.

On a positive note, stopping into Cycle Brewing and St Pete Brewing tonight for some growlers...looking to pick up a Rye IPA and 2 session IPAs from Cycle and wanna try 2 at SPB and possibly take one or both home if I like em - St Pete Orange Wheat and Here Comes Sunshine Summer Ale.

Might also stop into Rapp and try their 8% ABV Chrysanthemum Saison.

I've also heard Three Palms in East Tampa/Brandon has some decent beers, gonna hit the taproom sometime this week and check them out.

Not a big fan of Wheats, but bout an Anchor samp-lah and I'm left with them after burning through the regu-lah, the ale and the port-ah.

Have to say, I REALLY enjoy their wheat beer.

The best part about the craft beer boom is their infiltration into most restaurants, and places you would just expect a small beer selection from. I just saw this weekend that CCB signed a deal with Carnival Cruise lines.

I'm going to their Beer Camp Across America festival on Sunday. Insane number of breweries a lot of which we don't even get distribution for (Surly, Cigar City).

First beer fest in a long time for me. Kind of gave up on them.
I was thinking about hitting the one in Chicago. WTH is it on a Sunday?

Goose Island Bourbon County Barleywine

Goose Island BCS

Community Beer Works Mosaic IPA (cask) x2

Saison Dupont Dry Hop 2014 x2

Community Beer Works Frank

 Works for me. Maybe it will keep the crowd a little lighter even. I hate crowded festivals.

Navy Pier is going to be a madhouse anytime. I just wanted a day to sleep in.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, it's not Robert the Bruce. But not bad at all. I do have to note the damned Americans even like to over-hop Scottish Ale.
