What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Tonight: Jolly Pumpkin Bam Biere and Stone Ruination.

For real this time, theres no way that bomber of Ruination makes it past 9:00

T-minus 1.5 hours. You'll like it. I might even wager to say that you'll love it.Tonight I'm sipping on a Chimay Red label.

Hey Max I sent you a beermail over at BA....

Im finishing up my last bomber of Racer 5 right now, and then its Ruination time

Im drinking a bomber of Stone Ruination right now!!!!!!!

:headbang: :pickle: :towelwave:

Talk about a hop bite!!!! YIKES!!!! In a good way! Still pretty cold so Im gonna let it settle a bit

Nap be damned!

Im drinking a Lindemans Framboise Lambic, but only because the gf wanted to try it after liking some of the fruit beers at the fest...

This is actually the 1st time Ive ever tried it as well....A bit too sweet for my taste, but pretty tasty nonetheless. Not sure if Lambic should even be considered beers, but I can now say Ive tried it.
Lambics should definitely be considered beers, but Lindemans should NOT be considered lambics, as they are sterilized and sweetened after fermentation. (The only one I'm aware of that is unsweetened is the Cuvee Renee geuze.) For a true idea of what Framboise (or other lambics) should be, look for Cantillon, Boon, Liefmans, or Hanssens. Those are the main lambic breweries available in the states, and all are unsweetened, and "live" in the bottle.

Had never tried (or was even aware of) Racer-5 before this thread.

But after seeing what fine tastes exist here,

I just had to pick up a bomber.

A bomber of Barney Flats also happened to find its way into my cart . . .

Can hardly wait . . .

Dude youre gonna love Racer 5...I cant get enough of that stuff. I think Max has sent me 3 or 4 bombers of that stuff....Ill request at least one bomber every time I trade with him. Its my 2nd highest rated American IPA behind 05 Celebration, but that could change after another bomber or two.Enjoy!

You live in NorCal and haven't tried Racer 5? Dude, Bear Republic is the shizzy. Racer is better than the Hop Rod Rye, IMO, but both are quality IPAs. The Big Bear Stout is also a kickass beer. They brew it all in Santa Rosa, probably only about 1.5 hours from you (if I remember right, you're in Monterey, right?)

Agreed. Right now I have a virtual three way tie for my favorite IPA (lumping DIPAs in as well). Racer, Ruination, DFH 90. It easily ranks up there with these brews.

Mirror pond deserves more love. That is a great kick-back-and-have-a-brew beer. I've got a few in my fridge right now as well.

Oh, and I just happen to be drinking a Racer 5 right now.
dude the Ruination is about history.....Damn fine brew. As far as IIPAs go, after Dreadnaught, I lump 90min, Herc, Ruination, Yulesmith and Mendocino 05-06 in tier two. All fantastic. Dreadnaught is on another level IMO, but Id take any of those in tier two with me to a desert island if Dreadnaught wasnt available.I just noticed that of the top 10 IIPAs over at BA, I have reviewed 7 of them. That leaves the Elder Pliny, Moylander and Devil Dancer as the last 3 to try (as far as current rankings go), and Ill have Devil Dancer in Michigan in June.

Hoo boy!Nothing subtle about this sucker.

Awesome, HUGE flavor.

Like smokin' a Cuban.

And at $3 a bomber, is a steal.

This is definitely gonna be in the rotation.

I can get Moylander. I've seen it around anyway. Haven't tried it myself yet, but I will next time I see it. I may even pick up an extra bomber or two, if you get my drift.

All of those should be fairly easy to get for you, with the exception of Dreadnaught, YuleSmith and Devil Dancer (I haven't seen any of these locally in any stores). Great Divide brews just recently started showing up at Bevmos in Northern California and you should also be able to find Moylander. The Pliny will most likely require a road trip, but it isn't that far away for you.

Racer 5 and Troegs Nugget Nectar.

I might like Nugget Nectar more. Might have to redo the taste test tomorrow. ;)

Racer 5 again tonight. This is quickly replacing SNPA as my everyday brew. God I love this stuff.

I may or may not have a DFH 90 during American Idol in about an hour.

Fortunately I was wrong. Only $4. Tonight it's Old Dominion Spring Brew 2006. Just came out. It's an Imperial Pilsner. No idea how strong it is, but it's damn tasty and I could easily drink a lot of them. If there's a better pilsner out there I'd love to try it.

Just finishing up my first ever beer from Lagunitas, "Brown Shugga", courtesy of FatMax. Its like an India Pale Ale/American Strong Ale hybrid...surprisingly balanced and easy to drink considering its 9.9% ABV.

Big beer. Not bad at all.

That FatMax character is a beer drinkin/sharin fool! Thanks GB!

According to beeradvocate.com, the St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the #4 ranked beer in the world. So yeah, their brewery is decent. Kilgore sent me a bottle and I'd also say that it is easily one of the top five beers that I have ever tasted. I haven't tried any of their other offerings.

Absolutely superb beer. This beer is definately in the top ten for me.But tonight I have the opportunity to cherish one of the spring seasons finest releases. Stone's Old Guardian Barley Wine. Its going to be much too ripe but I'll have a few cellared for a later date as well.

Almost 80 outside. Went down to St. Georges brewery and picked up some fresh Spring Lager. Bottled 1 week ago. Had a couple of Sam Adams out on the deck of a little bar before coming home. Spring Lager chilling now. Can't wait.

I'm going to start out with a few pints of Guiness at the pub after work and then finish off with evening with pitchers of Bud at the strippers

Starting things off with a St. Ambroise Pale Ale. I'm not sure if this can be found stateside, but I recommend it. It has become a staple in my fridge.

Up next will be Mill Street Tankhouse Ale for the first time - a local (Toronto) brew.
