What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (12 Viewers)

Just cracked a bomber of Racer 5. Holy crap, that's a nice beer.

I remember sampling something from Bear Republic at the (late) Chicago Real Ale Festival a few years back, don't remember if it was this or Hop Rod Rye.

Anyway, great citrusy, piney nose, a good malt backbone to support the bitterness, great hop flavor. A bit hazy in the glass, but if I know those Cali brewers, it's probably from dry-hopping, rather than from any production flaw.

 Great beer. From the BR website:

Racer 5 - This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer's statement on this style.

Gin and Tonics tonight. To keep in the spirit of the thread, I had DFH90 on tap last night at a nice resteraunt. Went very well with my Crawfish Dijon. Damn that is a good beer.

labatt Blue for me.

Cant wait for midnite eastern!!!
Do tell.
drinking some Labatt Blue Light while my Goose Island Kilgubbin Red Ale chills in the fridge
Kilgubbin Red Ale 5.0% ABV

Just a few blocks south of here (the brewery) lies actual Goose Island, which was originally named Kilgubbin by its population of Irish immigrants. We brew an Irish red ale in tribute to these immigrants, who made their living raising geese. Brewed with a touch of malted rye and U.K. Northdown hops, Kilgubbin is a smooth drinking pint.
also, NFL free agency starts at midnight eastern tonight. I'm guessing that is what BSS was referring to.

Dunedin Brewery's Apricot Peach Ale (local brew). Nothing exciting, but a perfect summertime Florida lawnmower beer. Slightly watery, but fruity and juicy. Ill keep a few on hand this summer for a quick thirst quencher.

Also, is it bad that I just slammed 3 Premiums (beer brewed in New Olm, MN) on my work break? I'm now moderately buzzed here at work at the law library circ desk.

After finishing the Apricot beer, I had a nice steak dinner at the best steakhouse within 30 miles, and now Im at home enjoying an Ayinger Celebrator.

FatMax, I finally cracked the last bomber of new beer.....Red Rocket Ale.

Good stuff! Lotsa citrusy and floral hops....great balance. Another winner from Bear Republic.

:banned:

I still have one Stone IPA left...Im saving it for the Sopranos Sunday night.

Red Rocket Ale is my 2nd favorite Bear Republic beer, right behind Racer 5.

These guys know how to brew awesome beer.

Having the Lion Stout from Sri Lanka.

I gotta say, I was skeptical buying this beer...but its turning out to be a tremendous stout. Nice pillowy head, jet black and creamy. Tastes sort of like fudge with a nice silkyness.

I'm a big fan. This is suprisingly good!

Drinking Kingfisher right now.If you ever would have told me that I would be drinking it as a domestic, I would have told you that you were crazy, but work has taken me to the otherside of the globe.

Kingfisher, India's best selling Premium Lager Beer is a rare pleasure, colorful and revered. Brewed from the finest quality barley and hops, its prestigious international awards are further proof of its widely acclaimed taste and quality

A nice growler of Masala Mama India Pale Ale from Town Hall Brewery.

This thread has renewed my interest in good beer. I was in a pretty solid rut of Summit beers and now I'm free baby FREE!

Haven't followed this thread at all. But I drank enough Shiner Bock this weekend that I thought I'd throw in some props for it if no one else had.

Carolina Brewing Co. IPA followed by Ithaca Cascazilla. Only a serious dose of hops will cut through my headcold. These are doing the job quite nicely.

Tomorrow? Berkshire Beer Works IPA. Anyone within 200 miles of Pittsfield MA needs to hit this brewpub, owned by a pair of Victory's former assistant brewers. The cask IPA is one of the most insanely tasty yet balanced IPAs I've ever had. Not a hop bomb, not a malt molotov, just perfectly drinkable. Good food as well.

Good deal. Red Rocket is actually one of my least favorite Bear Republic offerings. I like Racer 5, Hop Rod, and Big Bear Stout better. That said, it is a very good beer by most standards. I certainly wouldn't kick it out of the fridge.Tonight is a bomber of Arrogant *******. I also had one Stone IPA and some crappy local ale on tap while out to dinner.

Wingnut - I saw in your BA 'wants' that you listed Sierra IPA. You can't get this? You should have let me know that earlier.

I love beer. The discovery never ends. I've never heard of either of these.

Havent seen it locally anywhere...Even at the good beer store...Im makin a trip there next week though, so maybe theyll have it.I actually liked the Red Rocket a bit more than the Hop Rod Rye (which is damn good as well). I think the floral hops remind me of Racer 5.

Kingfisher actually brews in the US too. And it still tastes like ####.

Well, when I pick up some Moylander, I'll hook you up with some Sierra IPA on the same shipment. And of course some more Racer 5.

Sounds like a plan. I think I may have left a few Belgians off the list I beermailed you over at BA....Trappist Rochefort 8 and 10 should still be available at the local store as well as a few others...I cant remember the whole list...Im heading to Tampa Saturday so Ill see what else they have that I may have forgotten. Of course, I can get most of the St Bernardus brews (6, 8, 12, and Tripel)...Im a bit short on cash for another week or so, but after that Im gonna get a few trades working again...Ive got some Dreadnaught lined up, and Ill definately be sending one your way, as well as anything else you want...

And to stay on topic, Im sipping on a Bigfoot right now. Huge freakin beer.

Cascazilla is a decent IPA. not the strongest, or the best I have had, but its decent. I have not had the Carolina Brewing Co. IPA

I haven't had the Carolina Brewing Co. IPA and I live in North Carolina. They have a very small distribution that doesn't even reach the Western part of the state. I am assuming that bakes got it in a beer trade or a trip to the Triangle. I'll have to pick some up next time I am in that part of the state. I really haven't been that impressed with our local microbrews (Highland would be the best).

I assumed these are the same people that make Carolina Blonde. But it's not. And that's a good thing because Blonde is not very good. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. But if you can't get it there, I probably can't get it here in VA.
