What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (9 Viewers)

tried some stuff called "Blue Moon" Belgian White style wheat beer, from Memphis, TN. Quite possibly the worst beer I have ever had. I bought a 6'er, but I think I'm gonna toss 5 away - I don't think I can give that crap away in good faith.

Tastes like celery. If chicken wings are not available, clery and beer are a very poor combination.

I don't dislike alot of beers, but this is one beer I absolutely detested.
It is bad and a bad example of the style even.
Agreed. I can't see how that #### sells, but it does.
Summit just did a Belgian Wit spiced beer and it's far superior to Blue Moon. It really isn't my favorite style at all, but for what it is, it is a pretty good beer. Getting pretty good reviews too.

Going to a graduation party at a friends house. Last time he had a get together he had High Life and Coors Light. Wish me luck on my dangerous journey...
Good luck in beer hell.
Not only was this the other beer besides Coors, but there was a debate as to wich one is good and wich one sucks. :hot:

Old Milwaukee pounders.

My truck broke down, my old lady left me, my dog died, and my momma done got herself in jail.
Pabst Blue Ribbon.. in a can.. eegads..

Hubby was feeling sentimental, his Dad used to drink Pabst.

Personally I am craving a Petes Wicked Ale or a mini Kirin Keg..  :banned:
Cheap night at our houses.
:hifive: Hoping I don't get a headache!! :suds:
2 sinus tablets, 2 migraine tablets, 1 glass of water before bed.Report back.
:lmao: Sinus tablets?? Closest I have to that is Vicks Vapor rub.. lol
Hey, don't know it til you've tried it.
I don't think I'll be drinking enough to give me a headache. I can barely finish this first one! :yucky:
Push yourself through the first and second. By the third, they'll start to taste better.
I switched to Kerns Pear Nectar.. I'll wait for the good stuff tomorrow. :D * I just noticed we have a major C name thing going on.. lol*
Good call. Lots of C's flying around.

I really need to get/make a keg fridge.
It is a wonderful wonderful thing. A lot cheaper to buy your session beer that way too. Not to mention, then I don't have to let friends have some of my other goodies.

Hey, if you want a good laugh, go to BA and read the reviews of Rolling Rock. It gets trashed hard there, and for good reason.

 Good advice. This is the first line of the first review."The signature painted label bottle is probably the best part of this beer. "

For the record, I'd rather have PBR than Pete's Wicked Ale or Kirin Ichiban.
Maybe if it was in a bottle... Not sure why I was craving those other two, I haven't had kirin in years!! I guess I was feeling nostalgic.. :)

First of all, can you put that avatar in slow motion PLEASE?! Worse than a epilepsy "test".

Jolly Pumpkin Maracaibo. I've been looking forward to this beer for a long time. Thanks to Wingnut for scoring me a 2005 as well :D

They make PBR in a bottle?
I had it on tap a few months ago. Guess what? It still tasted like ####.
I don't think it's "that" bad for a macro. I've started drinking a bit more of it at poker night. Previously, I'd been drinking DFH at the same pace everyone was drinking their Bud/Miller, and noticed that I was a lot worse off than everyone else at the end of the night. Not understanding the concept of moderation, I decided to switch to a less powerful beer as opposed to trying to drink less.

This is another good reason I have a kegerator. Hard to be outpaced when we are all drinking the same thing and I am the one that is well practiced.

I'm not sure?? In 17 years, this is the first time hubby has brought PBR home. *That I can remember at least*

Not only was the beer bad but there was like 5 kids running around with little water guns my buddy handed out. This one 7yo girl thought it was funny to get me wet instead of playing with the other little kids. So we had a conversation that went like this:Me: PLease, dont squirt me anymore. Go play with the other kids.

Her: HAHAHAHAH*squirt,squirt*

Me: Seriously, please stop.

Her: HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHA*sqirt,squirt*

Me:Where's you parents?

Her:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA*squirt,squirt*

ME: Look, that little boy is going to get you!

Her: *Looks away*

Me:*Grabs the gun* and starts squirting her relentlessly, until she fell into the kiddy pool after backing up to get away from me.

:own3d:

Jolly Pumpkin Maracaibo. I've been looking forward to this beer for a long time. Thanks to Wingnut for scoring me a 2005 as well :D
You guys need to check out this Jolly Pumpkin brewery. I've been surprised by every beer I've had by them so far.
So you liked the Maracaibo??

Wouldnt be ideal for me...I cant drink alot of one beer....well, I can drink alot of one beer, but not having any friends that like good beer, it'd go flat befoe I could finish it. I like changing it up too much.A room mate and I converted an old top freezwer fridge into a keg cooler about 10 years ago when I used to drink Mich Light. It was awesome. Not having to leave the house to have a 9am draft ---- you cant beat that.

Yeah, it was great! Really sweet and really original flavored. It tasted like peaches to me. JP does some crazy #### with their yeast. All the open air fermentation does good things to their beers

Gonna do a bomber of Deschutes Hop Henge IPA. Been staring at this one for a while now. It is time.

:banned:
Nice, never seen it. What do you think?
 Good f'n IPA. First Ive had form the brewery. Fro sent it to me. I want to try more of their beers for sure. Ill write up more later, but right now I just cracked a Marin Brewing's White Knuckle IIPA. Good stuff, too.

:banned:

Hey Fro, you hit the Dreadnaught yet?? WTF you waiting for?? Thats one beer that you have to get to ASAP once you get it. TRUST ME!!

Was everything intact in the package?? Dont make me ask again

Stone IPA.

Ever get caught up in smelling a beer so much that you forget to drink it? :nerd: I know.
I now it all too well, gb. All too well.Stone is one of the best IPAs out there, without a doubt. I love that stuff. I think I like it more than Ruination........no, wait. Thats just crazy talk.

No way I like it more than Ruination. I just did an official review and gave it a 4.05I am fairly sure that when I do my official review for Ruination it will be much higher than that. I am guessing between 4.3 - 4.7

I really wish on BA when you clicked a style and chose top beers for that category, you could sort by your rating. That way you could see what your top ten list looked like for every style

 I gave em both 4.4's on BA. Both worthy. Both are great examples of their respective styles. If I had to pick one of the 2 on a desert island, Id probably pick the IPA cause I could knock back more of them due to the lower ABV.

Do you think the packing could play into it as well? I really like the Ruination bottle. The design, the color scheme..the fact that its what, painting on instead of paper labels? Or however the hell they do that

Well, you CAN list your reviews by rating, but you cant sort THOSE by style. Interesting to see what my highest reviews are though. My top 5 (ties included), which isnt really indicative of my favorite beers:

Dreadnaught 4.80

90 Minute IPA 4.7

Ayinger Celebrator 4.6

SN Celebration 4.55

Racer 5 4.55

Mendocino Winter Ale IIPA '05 4.55

Alesmith IPA 4.5

Stone AB 4.5

Without a doubt. Its silk screening. Stone has the coolest bottles, and the only ones Ive saved (I have one of each Ive tried).

Actually, you CAN sort by style  but not by rating within styles

Jolly Pumpkin can go toe to toe. Although the bottles aren't silk screened, the labels are stunning. And since we are talking about beer labels...I think runner up goes to Three Floyds for the art work and presentation on their bottles.

Honorable mention? New Glarus for the "simplicity" of the labels and Russian River for the funky shaped bottles with cork caps and bizarre pitch fork or other strangely illustrated demonly weapon looking devices on every label.

JP has some great bottles/labels. And the fact that theyre (mostly) 750s adds to the mix.NG is cool as hell, too. Love the Wisconsin Belgian Red and Hop Hearty bottle. Only seen the RR's in pics, unfortunately. :kicksrock:

Hoptown IPA

Stone Old Guradian, Ruination, RIS

Alesmith IPA, Grand Cru, Speedway

Bear Republic Big Bear, Racer 5, Red Rocket
