What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (5 Viewers)

OK, can anyone help me here? Going to Cancun. Where can I get a decent beer?
L.A. HTH.
Stop by. We'll make a trip Fathers Office then Stuffed Sandwich.
Well, I wish my vacation was a beercation, but it wasn't to be. Vacation is a present to the wife for finishing law school/passing the bar, etc. She decided where. Originally she said San Diego and I was :excited: . Then Mexico came. At least we got all inclusive for 220/night.

About to crack the Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald porter. This beer gets rave reviews, I expect nothing but perfection

I'll make this quick:

Review of Old Style at Cubs game ----

I'll try this BA style:

Appearance: (2) First one was in a paper cup, so it looked like.....um, a paper cup. Second one and all others in an opaque plastic cup, so it looked, well, opaque-beer-colored.

Smell: (2.2) Mild beer smell. First one was best, as it came from the tap directly. The ones from the can were slightly thinner in terms of smell. It DID actually smell like a beer though, which was a surprise given the venue.

Taste: (2.13) Mild beer taste that did not overwhelm the palate. Slight water flavor that gave it a good balance between Spring Water and Miller Lite.

Mouthfeel: (2) Watery smooth and thin bodied.

Drinkability: (5+) Given the thin nature of the beer, you could pound these all night and only get a warm and fuzzy feeling. Fullness and bathroom calls would be another issue, but..... I could drink this one all night, much like you would expect at a MLB game where most people drink these beers by the dozen.

The real question is how many?

Now for the best part of the evening. I'll simply post my review of my fight with a tree last night. One note --- The worst part was that I was completely sober, as I really only had a couple "beers" at the game. And that was early on.

Here goes, but let's keep this between ourselves and post this Internal Use Only. TIA.

--------------------------------

Had a good night last night, went to the Cubs game. You meet the most "interesting" people there, ya know. Funniest part was after the game though. Was walking home on Alta Vista (very narrow side street north of Wrigley), and was looking to my left at some of the houses, etc. ******!*!*&@!%#$@WHAM********!!!!!!!! Cracked my head into something f'ing hard. Thought for a split second I nailed a light post. Or an aluminum bat..... Turned out a huge tree was growing at an angle over the sidewalk right at head level for me. I still have a splitting headache, a huge knot on the right side of my head (head was turned), my ears hurt, my neck hurts, my right shoulder hurts (hit that too), and I keep getting the "chills" every so often. Gauranteed that I have a concussion. I mean I seriously whacked that thing with my head. ##### (wife) said it made a sick sound too, and shocked her (she was looking left too BTW). OMFG that hurt. Now I know how Steve Young feels most days when he wakes up. Damn I just wanted to take a chainsaw to that tree after that.

nicely done George. how fast were you walking that you gave yourself a concussion? speed-walking with the swift arm-thrust action? were you wearing a fanny pack?

did anyone roll you for your pocketbook while you lay on the ground?

Walking at a brisk pace. You know --- big city, narrow street, night time. We were trying to get away from the Street Thugs. After all, we are effectively tourists given that we live 20-30 minutes north of the Big City. I mean, it's not like going to Wisconsin or anything. We'd get mugged up there....

Let's be honest, the concussion comment was overkill. We know that. I bumped my head. Makes for a better story if I was the victim and I had major injuries. I did hit it pretty hard, but I'm not seeing blind spots in my field of vision or anything. But hey, why let the truth get in the way of a good story, right?

ETA:

No fanny pack. That's for tourists from Wisconsin. F'n Cheeseheads! :hot:

My haul today:

Jenlain Original French Ale

St. Bernardus Abt 12 (of course)

Trappist Rochefort 10

Rogue Half -e- Weizen

SNPA
Do you buy 4 packs of the St Bernardus or 750ml bottles? Just curious. Seems like most stores here have one or the other and not both for whatever reason.
I tend to go with the 750ml on the Abt 12. My store has Abt 12 and Prior 8 in 750s and 4 packs, while Pater 6 and Wit are in 4-packs only.ETA: Forgot about the Tripel. I can get that in 4 packs and 750's as well.

Definitely

man i wish i had regular access to 750s of the St B's. that might be all i drank.
I have so many of these at home I can't even walk without knocking one over. They are so plentiful for me that I use them to wash my hands after I go to the bathroom. Also use them to rinse off vegetables in the kitchen sink.

I will help you with that problem next time I am in Chicago. :banned:
