I really like the stout and porter, but to be honest its been a really long time since I had them.Celebration and Bigfoot is where it's at for SN.![]()
FWIW I'm not a ginormous fan of of SNPA either.

You know, it's a great beer, but isn't it pretty much a black and tan? Or is that implied by the name "black lager"? I am a big fan of lagers, Sam Adams Boston Lager being my favorite, and I'm also a big Yuengling fan if you couldn't tell.Started by living the High Life, got rid of the 2 Genny Light's I had, now drinking Sam Adams Black Lager.![]()
That especially sucks when you can't just pick up another bottle to make sure that it wasn't a bad bottle.I think I got a bad bottle of beer. The Siletz Oatmeal cream stout just isn't matching up to the reviews of others that have had it.
Its friggin sour and not good. I just don't understand, thats got to be it.

Almost looks like quality has gone down hill. The bottom review is from 12/28/04 and the top is mine. The 3.75 is 5/3/05. Perhaps their brewing quality has slumped?
Give them a kick in the nuts for me when you see them. I've also got the Wooly Bully, Chocolate Porter and Spruce ale so hopefully those don't suck too.Haven't had them for a while; planned on stopping at the brewery when my wife and I go for a coast visit in September (brewery tours for me, coastal sunset photo ops for her). Prefer their Chocolate Porter, but the Oatmeal Stout was good too. Guess I'll have to recheck it out.
Will do. Liked the Spruce Ale, but it's a little bit different; kind of fruity. Actually had one at the Organic Brewfest from a small brewpub on the coast (Bill's Tavern in Cannon Beach); apparently the locals collect up the spruce buds and bring them to the tavern. It's only available for a few weeks in the spring, so I think I missed it until next year, but I'll probably check them out next trip out their way.Give them a kick in the nuts for me when you see them. Reading BA reviews down?It was good. I can see why this would be a session beer in CA. Very easy to drink.![]()
During Colonial times in America, spruce was mainly used for making beer due to the lack of malts available. If you guys are interested, this is a good book on beer history in America.I like different and experimental beers. Spruce sounds pretty good to me.
Yes I have. It was pretty good, but I think I like the SNPA better. Plus, its ALOT easier to find.Cat got an ###?Just wondering of you two SNPA fans have tried the IPA.
Starting early, nice.Smithwicks right now, will follow with multiple Sierra Nevada's at happy hour, and will go home for a Hoegaarden Wheet.

I think I have sent it to just about everyone around here. That's the way it seems anyways as I always go in there with only one empty and walk out with two growlers.I'm not ready at the moment, but we'll have to do a trade at some point and I will get you my address then. BIF II needs to get rollin . . .You are one of the few that wants to start it up. I got almost no feedback when I asked for it, so I figured I would at least let it sit until after the holiday. You could pm it to me. It's a 2005 I believe, but I can't wait any more. The wife is now putting pressure on me to drink it (she loves barleywines too). I wanted to drink either the IPA vs Brut or Cantillon 2003 Framboise, but it appears that the time has come for the Blonde Behemoth.I know nothing about this beer, haven't read any reviews or discussed the beer with anyone I know. Going into it blind, ready for anything and everything. All I know is its ranking among the others barleywines.:jealous:New bottle or are you having a nicely aged one?I know what I am having.Three Floyds Blonde Behemoth. BA's #2 barleywine in the world.
