What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (5 Viewers)

Damn these St Bernardus corks in the 750mls don't want to come out.
And for my $, there is no finer buzz than that acquired after knocking out a 750 of Abt 12. Always puts me in a nice, sleepy, tranquil bliss :banned:
This is so good. I don't even know what to say. Can't imagine when I crack the Westy in the basement that it will be that much better, but that's what I hear.

Hi folks. I am FEELING IT :banned:
 I'm letting my bourbon barrel barleywine warm to the proper temperature before I dive in. Been sitting on this beer since my very first trade.

This Bittersweet lenny's R.I.P.A is pretty good...and I think it increases your chances of going to Hebrew heaven, so it's got that going for you too....

I really want to get the Westy, but the purist/geek in me wants to get it from Belgium. I figure if I can get Westy at the abbey and Andechs at the monastery, I'll be able to die a happy man, beer wise. And yeah, the Abt 12 is a great sipping brew - just kick back, snifter full, buttle half full, and smile.

I'm getting me a mug this evening boys. Mark my words.

Edited, because someone I managed to #### up one of the eleven words I typed.
That's only a couple reviews, I don't think that should be a problem. BTW, I gave my first all 5's review on BA a couple days ago.
It took me a couple of mintues to realize that you were not talking about a beer, but an establishment. Sweet. I wish I had a good beer store close to me. BevMo is about as good as it gets in Sacramento. They aren't bad, but they are nothing like a good specialty shop.Hey Skylord, I noticed that you revied a Gordon Biersch beer. What the hell happened to that brewery? They used to have some decent stuff a few years ago. I haven't had a beer that I would consider above average from them in a long time.
I'm not sure if they went down hill or everyone around them just got better.

Finishing off a bottle of Cascazilla. Need to go a bit bigger - don't know whether to crack open the growler of Ithaca Double IPA or go with something from the cellar. Leaning towards the growler right now.

I think the latter, based on what my cousin says - just so much good beer out there now that the overall bar keeps slowly raising.

I've contemplated ordering Westy from that site where everyone else has gotten it, but I'm terrified that it will ruin my enjoyment of Abt 12. My goal is to only drink Westy if/when I make a trip to Belgium. I've also really been into St. Bernardus Tripel, lately.

I completely concur in this assessment. :)

FatMax, looks like you didn't like the 10 Years Alt quite as much as I did. I am usually not a huge alt fan and that one I love. Wish it wasn't a one time brew. Speaking of that, I better go buy a bunch before it is all gone.
I was excited to sample it after the smell, but the taste seemed a little ragged to me, almost as if it could use a year or two in the cellar before consumption. Still, I thought it was a good beer.

Just got home and cracked a 60 minute IPA.  While this isn't a bad beer at all, I think I am growing out of it.
I can't even get it, much less grow out of it. :hot: Send all of your remaining stock to me :excited:
Winston,Just finishing one of the beers with your avatar on it. My first St. Bernardus Abt 12 actually. Pretty good. I like the caramel, malty falvor quite a bit. It's got something else going on I can't quite place, but it mostly lives up to the hype of its rating.
Do you not rate anything? Or are you on Ratebeer?
I don't rate yet. I want to explore a little more and then get into rating. Plus it gives me an excuse to buy more beer later. It's all about pacing yourself... "Well, Honey, I have to buy it because I need to rate the beer."

Just practicing. Plus I don't have all that fancy-schmancy gobbledey#### beer talk down yet. And don't they IP ban you if you don't use a certain level of snobbery in your review on BA?
Yeah, my beer ratings hardly have all the language, but I still like to do it to know what I have had and to be able to refer to later on.
Mine either. I don't consider myself a beer snob yet. I started reviewing just so I would have an inventory of what I have tried.

There will be at least 12 in the cellar.

Glad you dug it. While Abt 12 tends to be pretty consistent quality-wise, occasionally you get a bottle that is so good it makes you want to rip your face off. I got one of those, and with it, a new avatar
Really wanna rip your face off?Try it on tap. :banned: :pickle:

That said, I know that "ohmyfreakinggod" feeling of a great bottle - may be as good if not better than on tap.

There's a GB not too far from where I work in downtown New Orleans. I always like going there because the appetizers are pretty nice and go well with the beer. Nothing mind blowing beer-wise, but the proximity to my work makes it a definite

I wish. If only I didn't live in the beer hell known as New Orleans. :(

Good deal. I'm hoping you'll like it.

Man, I wonder if I could get a keg of Abt 12?
:drool:If you do, I'm coming over. Seriously.
:confirmed:You get a keg of Abt 12 and we WILL get a cornhole arranged, guaranteed.
Though its been said so many times before, this really SHOULD happen.I can just see myself pitching this to the wife now..."so...I'm going on a little trip...to meet some guys from FBG...from the thread about beer I have 200+ posts in... "

I can only offer so many times.... :banned:

The Beermann's is too bourbony for the wife, she bailed and is leaving this majestic 33.8 oz beast to me alone. Looks like I gots some work ahead of me.

Beermann's Bourbon Barrel Barleywine is getting a 4.4 in my book. The warmer it gets, the crazier the flavors become. Seriously delicious.

 I'm glad you like it. I'm even happier now that I have a legit local beer to trade.
