What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Yazoo Pale Ale

only three reviews at BA. :banned:
Tip Top sent me a beer from Lake Superior Brewing that only had one review when I tried it. It was actually a pretty good beer if I remember right, but I'm too lazy to go back and check.

Good ol' Paulaner Hefe. Great easy drinking summer beer.
I love that ####.
:goodposting: Prolly my favorite Hefe.
I thought it was good, but not as good as Franziskaner or Weihenstephaner. Ayinger has a god one as well, probably not as good as the Paulaner...
all those are great, but Paulaner is my favorite.Weihenstephaner makes the best dunkelweizen I think though.
Hell yeah

Went to the Indy brewfest today. Much like you, I don't remember all of the beers I had (although I drank mostly water after the first couple of hours). Highlights included:

Brugge Brasserie: A barrel-aged quadruple with pickled plums and Brettanomyces (at 14% abv). The code word to get this was "clam chowder" - they weren't advertising that they had it. (Brugge is a small Belgian brewpub in Indy; no distribution at all that I know of.)

Three Floyds: Gumballhead

Bell's: Oberon

Founders: Kentucky Breakfast, Old Curmudgeon. They had Devil Dancer, but I missed it.

Breckenridge: 471 IPA

Stone: Arrogant *******

Several breweries did a shared recipe: A saison brewed with hickory syrup. Tried a couple - quit tasty.

Sampled various brews from:

Broad Ripple Brewpub

Lafayette Brewing

Mad Anthony

Oaken Barrel

Rock Bottom

Dark Horse

New Holland
What did you think of the Oberon?? Its a favorite summer brew of mine.
Great beer for a hot day. I've had it before where it had kind of a "corny" taste, but it was clean as could be yesterday.

Yesterday at the Stuffed Sandwich hurt me. Badly.

I don't think I can have any beer today....or atleast not until 2pm :bag:
 I have heard that beer is the best remedy for a hangover. I for one can't do it. If im hangin bad, and even see a beer, regurgitation may occur. :X

Damnit! My roommates and some people went to Redbones last night. I didn't ask what they drank as they were too busy raving about the food (6-person feast..had all the fixins and sounded de-lic-ious).

What did I do instead?

I went to Newport freakin' RI. I had two bottles of Sam Adams ( ), paid $11 to listen to reggae and have what appeared to be less than a pint of Bass (used to love this stuff but now, ). This was at O'Brien's.

Then we went to a place across the street from Yesterday's, which was closed and is/was the highest rated place in Newport per BA, called the Fastnet. Pretty dark and no one was in there. Had a SNPA here. It was decent but I've had it a few times now and I'm always eager to try new beers so it was disappointing. They had an interesting one on tap brewed in Boston called Endurance Pale Ale but the sample I had was pretty weak.

Conclusion: Newport beer sucks and only go there for the expensive women (if you got $$ you can throw around)

Started of earlier with the Hacker-Pschorr. Barely remember that, as I was mowing the grass in this miserable heat.\

On to a GI Imperial IPA. Then a Founders Curmudgeon. Was running low on quality beers in the fridge. So I now have in there: Gumballhead, Rabbit Rabbit, (3) Pride & Joy. Looks like the rest of this weekend will officially be "Three Floyds Appreciation Weekend".
Don't drink up all the BOTM beers. :hot:
 No worries on that. I have literally 15-20 of each of Gumballhead, Rabbid Rabbit, Alpha King and P&J. Also have 15-20 Two Brothers Hop Juice. But 11 of those are slated for BOTMC. I'll split the Gumball and Rabbit based on what people tell me they want. So fear not. BOTMC beers are safe and sound. Actually they are already segregated from the rest, as are the BIF Box beers.
Don't forget Bax and I are coming to town... :banned:
Your care packages for the long journey home are already squared away. Chicago's finest is waiting.
Better not be talking about Old Style....
Are we going to a Cubs game? If not, then I have no clue where they even sell Old Style here. :shuked:
I tried this crap when I went. :yucky: I didn't find the micro stand until after the game. I should have just asked someone.

Great ballpark though, that's for damn sure.

Sam must have done quite a job.
Yeah, had a lot of Alesmith tap. A lot of BIG Alesmiths on tap. But I did have the common sense to not drink a full glass of Speedway. Probably be in a ditch somewhere right now if I had.

Speaking of beer.....

The wife asked me today if we have enough beer for tonight when we have people over. "People" = another couple and their one year old, mind you. So we're not having a kegger here. I answered her, with a straight face, "I don't think so. Let me check." Now a rookie would have answered something like "Have you seen the 250+ bottles downstairs, we have plenty." But what I got today was an unexpected "Buy more beer" card. And I wasn't about to waste that limited-time permission on details like having far too much beer already.

So I bought a round of Hefeweiss from Whole Foods. Stuff I've had before and like. Details on that later. Bought a Duchy Pale Ale which is so-so but I like it. Bought another 2 6-packs of Pride & Joy. And bought a 6-pack of Founders Centennial IPA. Too much? I think not!

ETA:

Have a P&J right now, if anyone cares.

I made it to 1:50pm. But I am drinking a light beer (Gordon Biersch light) so it only half counts. I think that buys me ten minutes.

How much do you all spend on beer per week?
I slowed down over the last month or so because of my vacation, but before then I was dropping about $50-75 per week...probably small potatoes compared to some of these guys...On big weeks where I had trades to send, $100+ was pretty common.

Since mid June Ive probably only spent $50 total on beer...I still have alot left from trades, beers I brought back from vacation, etc

I hear ya. I have my private stock fridge in a room in the back of the house...thats stuff I dont let anyone touch. When someone comes over and asks if we have any beer, I point em to the kitchen fridge where theres always something someone has left here --- bud, tecate, corona, coors, yeungling or the like. If there isnt any beer in there, I say "nope".Ill be damned if anyones gonna get their greasy paws on my good stuff if they dont appreciate it.

Too much. I spent $170 at the Stuffed Sandwich alone on my wife and I. Granted, that was beer there and to go. Left with scores of Belgians that I had never seen before.

Having the legendary Speedway Stout. Drinking this thing out of a crystal snifter.

There is not better stout on the market that I've had. Its perhaps the best beer in the world. I'm entirely enjoying this beer.

Know that one ;) ...of course your link did happen me to notice a sweet deal at one of our local beer-snob bars...buy $50.00 gift certificate for $29.50. And since you have to use it all at one time, and since they have a really reasonable menu, that just means: more beer!So I salute you Furley :banned:

I had never sat down and rated it. At this point I'm thinking I made a mistake not having at on draft at the Stuffed Sandwich.
