the coffee-chocolate taste in the speedway stout is absolutely overpowering. similar to cadillac mtn. stout but the cadillac mtn. stout is like a 5-year old sister. this is just so rich though. reminds me of a piece of delicious chocolate cake you may start to eat but just cant finish because its so filling and so damn rich.

Started with Alaskan ESB. Let me tell ya, simply grilled king salmon (just brushed with oil and seasoned with sea salt and fresh ground pepper, grilled over hardwood charcoal) pairs insanely well with this brew. I forget who said it a few pages ago, but I agree - that is one outstanding session brew. Just enough hop spiciness. Loved that beer. 
Now I'm trying to find something to counteract the burn in my mouth from sampling a bit too much raw Bavarian garlic a few minutes ago. I believe a big stout may be calling my name...

wow, am pleased to just be realizing that my school is a mere 15 mins. away from Redbones, formerly the #2 beer bar in the U.S.?, and 20 mins. from the publick house..... and to think that all this time, i was lamenting not being able to go to great bars after this week (when i leave cambridge). and to think i haven't even tried watch city brewing co. or bison county which are supposedly ok places right under my nose in my college's town.
have i told you that i hate you ####in nase! what do the "standings" look like? whenever you guys mention this, I have no idea what the top 5 threads are. granted, i give credit to the thread for the show 'lost' and think those threads, if not restarted for each season and combined, would be hard to beat. 2/3 of the threads for that show equal 12500+ posts and there was a season 1 thread or two for that show that was deleted.but there is little doubt in my mind that this thread will be king before long.Holy chit you bunch of drunks. This thread moved into #3 in replies a few minutes ago.

Well the last three months we average 57 pages per month. So at 50m PPP(Post's per page) we do 2850 PPM(post's per month). We are 6,510 post's behind the #1 thread. We should be #1 by October 15th 8:39 PM.Holy chit you bunch of drunks. This thread moved into #3 in replies a few minutes ago.

Lots of other good breweries, too, just not as recognizable names, since they don't have the production/distribution volume of some of the better-known ones.It's a great fest - outdoors, right on Lake Monona. Limited to 5K tickets, so even though it's crowded, it's still manageable. The only time it gets crazy is when somebody taps a 'special' keg (e.g., Devil Dancer, KY Breakfast, or some of Bell's and Floyds' off the wall stuff).And Madison's a great eating/drinking town anyway, so Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday night are great, too, aside from the 5-hours of sampling at the festival.Forecast is sunny, low 80s. Skylord sent me one. I really liked it, but felt it needed to be a winter beer. So I ordered a few and I'm anxiously waiting for some colder weather.

From the recent Alpine Beer Co. Newsletter:
Last newsletter, I mentioned there was some exciting news coming. Well, here it is. In an earlier newsletter there was news that I would brew a Rye IPA using New Zealand hops. At that time, that was all that was decided.
Ladies and Gentlemen: Announcing “Nelson” a Golden Rye West Coast IPA. Because imitation is the biggest form of flattery, we declined to be flattered, we kept our “style” to ourselves to ensure no one would beat us to the punch (happens more than you’d think). There are few rye beers, fewer golden rye beers and no Golden Rye IPA’s I know of, do you? A quick Google search gave me some “Golden Rye Ales” from New Scotland Brewery, Magic Hat, The Hideout Brewing, Legend Brewing and Offshore Ale Co. None have a Golden Rye IPA. As for the taste, I didn’t want to talk about the beer before I could tell how it was progressing. It is more than I could have ever hoped for, fabulous. Lots of pineapple/citrus aroma, slight peppery taste from the rye. It’s a WOW beer and its not quit done yet. Release date: Friday August 11th straight up noon, be there with your growlers. Fills will be $8.50 and worth every penny, I personally guarantee that.
MORE ALPINE NEWS:
Plans are progressing, slowly, for more labels so we can bottle more of our fine ales. Captain Stout, Willy Vanilly and, yes, Exponential Hoppiness are going in for label approval, soon and we can bottle these great ales just around the corner. Like there will be enough Expo left to bottle, but we can hope, we’ll have the labels anyways.

So I got home from work today (well, from work and picking up 4 kids from various locations) and happened to find a couple of boxes on my porch. The trade box and Random Box o'Beer from Nucular George were here! Was pretty late by the time I got them opened (my daughter had to help, including counting and restocking - corrupted at almost 4); everything made it intact. Final count:

All in due time. The reason I picked up the Goose Island, CM, and Shiner is because I'm looking for some beer that is more readily available and I don't have to drive to Kentucky to get. Something that I can order when I'm out to eat.What kind of beer do you guys order when out to eat?
By the way, hopefully I'm not ruining my taste for the common beers. I used to really like Molsen Golden. I had some at the in-laws' on Saturday and it tasted like piss after drinking the Goose Island 312 the night before.

For Nucular George. You might want to buy some of this. If this is truley still batch 001, they have aged it about 18 months after bottling. This has potential to be another epic RR beer.
