What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

I think I am going to have a Hop Ottin while watching some TV.
Yep, watching the first season of House, MD on dvd. I don't have to pay really close attention, so reviewing beer and surfing the web is still doable while getting the jist of the show.

so, i took today off.. woke up with a monstrous headache and stomach doing Mary Lou Retton somersaults.

should i drink tonite? or no?

symptoms have mostly subsided.. though i haven't eaten yet so anything is possible.

What from? Did you drink THREE beers last night?
:boxing: pretty sure one of the ladies at work tried to poison me. we had a "food day". started feeling sick a couple hours after that.
:lmao: Three beers ....I can't wait until we all get together for a drinking session. Dibs on Mr Sharpieing Furley first!

word to the wise: i will #### somebody up if this happens.

whomever i catch first (involved or not) will be in for the beating of a lifetime.

:boxing:

Trying something new tonight:

White Hawk Select IPA (by Mendocino)

so far, pretty good - kinda a bit too malty for my likes.

Also will be trying these over the weekend:

Old Horizontal (Victory) - Barleywine style ale

Hop Hazard (River Horse, a NJ local), dry hopped PA

AUGUST 20th-26th

EBENEZER'S PUB 2nd ANNUAL BEER FESTIVAL!

The Belgian Festival once again is upon us! It will start at noontime on the 20th, and all of our taps will turn Belgian! There will be sample sizes available; and this year we will have some very nice examples of the genre! DeKonick, Maredsous 8 & 10, Bruggse Zot (recent Gold Medal Winner), LaDivine Amber Triple, Wittekerke Rose,

Keizerburg, Saison Silly, Houblon Chouffe, Hennepin, Bier du Boucaneer, Duchesse de Bourgougne, Oud Beersel Green Lambic, St. Bernadus Abt 12, and lots more will be rotating on and off tap. We will also be introducing St. Bernadus 60th anniversary beer, which in my lowly opinion is 1) Better than regular ST. Bernadus which ranks no.4 on Beer Advocates top 100, but. 2) I think will be better than Westvletern 12 which ranks no.1 on Beer Advocates top 100! This has just been shipped into the USA, and only 33,000 bottles have been produced! We will also be introducing many new bottles, and with a little luck the entire Wenten Portfolio will be arriving in as well!

We will also be offering the same delicious Belgian Food again this year, all cooked from our Belgian Chef Katherine and Head Chef Rita Knox! Venison, Rabbit, Mussels, Lobster, Casseroles, Boar Sausages, Soups, Chicken and Steak Dishes all await for your dining pleasure! Did I mention a lot of this meat was overnighted on a plane from Belgium? And yes, we will have those delicious Belgian Fries, and also returning will be those delicious Belgian Desserts made with authentic Belgian Chocolate and beers, cooked by our own Kinzer Sylvester!

So without further ado, here's a quick glance at what we'll be doing throughout the week:

Sunday August 20th- Opening of the Festival- @ 8:00 pm Chris will be doing a casual tasting of all the tap beers, come on in and get the lowdown on our first lineup!

Tuesday August 22nd- We'll be partying with a rare bottle tasting of 750's, goodies from Fantome, and some other beers that we are the only ones in the US to offer! There will also be a raffle for a couple of great prizes!

Thursday August 24th- It's our BIGGEST CELEBRATION OF THE YEAR! We will be opening the largest bottle of beer in the world (again)!!! 9 Liter bottle of St. Feuilliens Triple! We will also open another very large bottle of a very special gift from Brewery Ommegang! It is also three peoples birthdays that night: Mike De Shaun (our Belgian doorman), Brother Brian Garvin, And Mine: Chris Lively (your always humble narrarator!) And yes, you are allowed to camp that night, as the streets will be flooded with beer!!!

Saturday August 26th- End of the festival! We will be having our annual Belgian Beer blowout sale! (if there's any left!)

Invite everyone you know for a fun filled week of Belgian Food, Beer, and Culture! This will be for one week only! God Bless, Chris

This place is only 10-15 mins away from my pop's house. And in the middle of nowhere!!! I think I'm going to have to make a rare 3 day trip up there.

Just cracking a Ruination.

Sorry furley, had to stop by a liquor store to get the status on my case of St B 60th anniversary. He is only getting 2 cases total, but one is all mine. :)

Also, he gave me a Killer Penguin, which I never was able to get before.

well at least TWO of us will be enjoying St. Bernie's 60th in the coming weeks.Cheers!

:jealous:what time do some of you mofo's get home from work? damn! usually this thread is hopping by now.
i went to jacob wirth's in boston after work. def. a decent little place with some interesting lighter beers like lagers and hefe's on tap. def. specialized in german beers. anyway, this one bartender was the worst bartender i have ever seen. way overpoured on virtually every beer he served so that foam would engulf the sides of the glass and in one case, beer was spouting out everywhere as he poured into an already filled glass as he was looking at another receipt. it wasnt even busy.he also dropped a liqour bottle on the floor while he was trying to be cool.i want to report his beerwasting ### to the bar owner.

roomies are barbecuin'. barbecue and peche mortel = me a happy camper!!!

i think i prefer this to the shpeedway shtout.

Finally made it to the beer store. These things that I have never tried are now on my fridge:

St. Bernie 12

Old Rasputin

Oak Aged Yeti

Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

Dogfish Head Indian Brown

Along with these things that I have tried and enjoy:

DFH 90 Minute IPA

Lefthand Milk Stout

Rogue Chocolate Stout

Stone IPA

The Emmett's growler from BIF2 arrived in perfect condition.

Victory Pale Ale - seriously tasty stuff. Hoppy throughout but never too much - great flavors going on here. Reminds me quite a bit of the pale ale at the Pump Station, but with a more "three dimensional" hoppiness. Citrusy rind bitterness, apricot/citrusy (orange/grapefruit - there's Amarillo in this I guarantee it) flavors... the hops are almost minty fresh. :D Just enough caramelly malt with hints of butteriness to balance. Great session brew. Review at BA to follow... thanks, TipTop!!!!

Glad you liked it. I did enjoy it at the brewpub.

I having a Lagunitas Freak Out Ale. First time I had ever seen it was this evening. Aparently, nobody else has either because I had to add it on BA. It's a big piney IPA. Very good.

I actually had the Victory Prima Pils on tap at that piano bar I mentioned earlier. Pretty decent. I just don't think I'm into lagers or pilseners though. Stouts on the other hand..... :banned:

It's not Victory Brewing. It's Victory Pale Ale from a brewpub in suburban Chicago.

Absolutely, but let me even us up first. I still owe you beer.

Alright, but I know I can get you a bunch of stuff that you will enjoy. Peche isn't cheap btw, couldn't believe it when I saw the $20 price tage. I still grabbed 3 and think I am going to have the mother in law pick up more. :bag:

A moment of silence for the fallen vessel. It tried its best. That sucks. So far *knock on wood* I've yet to have sixty four ounces of happiness disintegrate on me.

This is the 2nd box in a row that Skylord has sent me where something has broken. His packing looked good, but I personally just think that UPS sucks. First time it was a Speedway down. Bad luck, bad luck.
