What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Thre is so much beer flying around this joint right now I can't keep anything straight :loco:
:goodposting: I had to quit reading those threads until someone actually claimed and posted pics.
Effing Regularguy pulls in two lunkers in the same day.
Dude, you got a 66lb box of beer in transit.
I know, I'm trying not to act intimidated
I really just hope it fits in your car. Otherwise I guess you will have to unpack in the parking lot or something.
When it arrives I'm going to send my 85lb coordinator down to pick it up, see what happens

Tony Magee, the iconoclastic owner/brewer of Lagunitas Brewing has been a big Frank Zappa fan most of his life and this year marks the anniversary of the release of Zappa’s first album, the Mothers of Inventions’ Freak Out. Tony spoke with Frank Zappa’s widow, Gail Zappa (who runs the Zappa Family Trust), and obtained permission to use the colorful album cover on the beer label for their new Freak Out Ale. Very different in appearance from most Lagunitas labels, the beer nonetheless is in keeping with their rebel chic ethic. And as mentioned on the label, let’s not forget Frank Zappa’s most famous beer quote:

Yeah, I actually entered that beer on BA last weekend. I liked it a lot. Nice resinous pine hop profile and different that any of their other IPAs. Also, is waaaay drinkable for a 7.3% abv beer.Tip Top will have one in his possesion early next week. In transit.

anyone on here speak French?

i've got a beer my brother brought back with him from France... i had the brewery added but not the beer. i can't really translate the style and other info.

Drank a somewhat warm Stone Imperial Stout on Sunday. i think that ruined the experience a bit but i still thought it was very good. would love to have it again (colder). too hard to tell if i preferred against peche mortel but preferred it to speedway stout.

had a fun time at disney this week but there is obviously no beer of interest down there. at least i still have a bottle of stone vertical epic in the fridge that i'm 99% sure will go down quite easily tonight.

Just my opinion, I think it is only average. Way too "smokey" for me.

You don't really want to drink it "cold" anyways. When I had mine last week I took it out and proceeded to let it sit for a while. Then it took me quite a while to finish it. By the time I drank the last of it, it had been out of the fridge for over 2.5 hours and was almost room temp. The last bit at room temp was the best, imo. Being warmer really brings out the flavors.

 this explains why i went from buzzed to smashed in the span of about 45 minutes. :bag:

Could've consumed it faster, but I was enjoying it on a nice mellow night. This weekend, beers are going to be consumed in mass quantity. Tomorrow my brother gets in town and I don't work Saturday, so I will enjoy. And that only leads up to the real thing on Sunday, when I have a beer tasting at my place. :banned:

as of right now, i've only had the three i mentioned but i preferred the peche mortel over the other two. maybe the alcohol was too prevalent when i had that stout at room temp? i suppose that the peche mortel was just much more 'drinkable' than the other two. and as an inexperienced drinker, what i find 'drinkable' now will be much different than what it is three months down the road.ex: i remember not liking cadillac mtn. stout when i first had it because i thought it was too rich and 'chocolatey.' i said that because it was unlike the few typical stouts i'd had at the time (ie guinness). but after trying some more stouts, i went for it again and thought it was the best stout i had had to date.

that's exactly what my brother said when i gave him a sip of the imperial stout.

i did move on sunday. and i will be moving again in a little over 2 weeks. so now, while i'm in maine, is the time if you want to try cadillac mtn. stout. i'd say the same with allagash but that's somewhat easy to find in mass (which is where i will be in 2 weeks).

You should have moved closer to cali until we traded so I could save money on shipping. Nice to see you moved as ####ing far away as you could!####ing nase :hot:

I could live on Caddy Mt. Stout. Pretty easily. :thumbup:Hell, I'll be in Mass. tomorrow - well, if Cape Cod counts as Mass. Seafood and beer - I cannot freaking *wait* to get out of this office and plop my butt on a beach chair, big old pile of fried oysters on top of the cooler, a growler of IPA in the cooler, and a glass of the same next to the cooler, and a few hot women in bikinis walking past the cooler...laughing at my sunburned skull. :bag:

additionally, most of the postal transit up in maine is done by oxen carts and horseback doubling the outbound transit time thus doubling your madness :stirspot:

Smuttynose IPA = Tasty
 I know it's gonna be a good day when I see old Cy and Paul staring at me from the six pack holder.
there's a smuttynose cafe at the manchester, nh airport and they have 4-5 of the staple offerings on tap there. unfortunately my flight left around 11am so i didn't have anything to drink. but i did see others there enjoying their morning beers.

is there much of a noticeable difference between Russian Imperial Stouts and American Double Stouts?

Same alcohol range

Same Roasted/coffee/chocolate flavor

Similarly Full-bodied

I'm failing to see a problem here.
:goodposting: Beer available, you don't have to drive, and it is better to be drunk on a flight. All signs point to you should have been wasted and then caused and emergency landing when you become beligerant at the overweight flight waitress for cutting you off.

Not really. They are categorized the same on RB. I don't like to think of Speedway as a double stout. If anything its a triple stout.
