What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

While down in the Bay area yesterday I stopped in a store in Berkely, CA called Ledger Liquors that Fatmax had mentioned to me a while back but I hadn't previously had time to stop at. I must say that the recommendation was a good one as this place had a better selection of hard to find beers than any place I've ever been to. They had tons of Belgians to choose from, some hard to find CA craft brews, and some quality stuff from other states. Was disappointed to find out that they didn't have any Alesmith because their distributor they'd previously gotten it from went out of business but I still can't complain. It ended up being a very expensive trip so I may be looking for new residence once my wife sees the bill. Here are a few of the highlights of the trip:

A couple of Jolly Pumpkin wood aged beers (can't recall the names)

A Port Brewing/Lost Abbey Barrel Aged Dubbel

Westmalle Dubbel

Westmalle Tripel

St. Bernardus 60th Special release

Rochefort 6

Trappist Achel 8 Brune

Saison Dupont

Corsendonk

Ballast Point Big Eye IPA

Double *******

Vertical Epic 06.06.06

Hair of the Dog Fred, Ruth, Rose, and Doggie Claws

Sixer of Mad River Steelhead DIPA

I know I grabbed a few more than these but these are the ones I can remember off the top of my head. Might have grabbed a gueze or something like that but I don't remember. Really looking forward to trying all of these.

Very good brew, you might not like the hoppieness.

Looks like there will be a chance at Tea Bagged Furious every week. That and different hop additions will be used for each cask.

Free Surly!

Dec 14, 2006

The Surly cask beer train rolls onward! We had a great turnout at The Groveland Tap in St. Paul last night. We will pouring more Free Cask Beer @ Acadia Cafe next Wednesday, December 20th. The tapping happens at 9:00. Sow up early to grab a drink ticket.

This pin of tea-bagged furious contains one pound of hops in the pin, split between amarillo and simcoe hops. Look for a different hop load for subsequent cask beers.

I would probably consider it if I had gotten more than one bottle of each or could get back for more in the near future. If I'm going to take the heat for spending this much money on beer I'm going to have to drink this particular batch in its entirety.

Arooooo!!!

Just found out that the Avery/Russian River Collaberation Ale is making it here to MN. I felt I better put in an order for this one.

Avery Old JubilationHaven't cracked it yet, but I gotta say...the best domestic Xmas beer of the year still goes to Deschutes.
Speaking of ...3C's, you try the Deschutes Jubelation I sent to you in BIF2 yet? It really is worth all the Skylord pimpin'.

So far my awards the best domestic Xmas beer of the year goes to 'Marin Brewing - Hoppy Holidaze Ale'.some of those at BA don't agree but I liked it very much
Moylan's White Christmas was another I enjoyed a great deal.
I was the one who added that to BA and was the first to review.:stickschestout:

:pinchesnips:One of these days I'm going to have to post reviews of what I'm drinking. Seems I never have the time to do it. BTW, thanks again for that recommendation of Ledgers.

Fattie, how are the beers from Beerman's and from Sacramento Brewing? I found a new place here in Redding that carries a bunch of beers from both of these but the only one I've had is a Beerman's Honey Ale that I don't remember being half bad.

Avoid Sacramento Brewing Company like the plague. Nothing they brew is worth drinking. Beermann's is interesting. Their Hefe sucks, and I didn't really like the honey ale. That said, Rip Roarin' Red I thought was one of the better amber/red ales I've had in awhile. They also have their Bourbon Barrel Barleywine which is excellent - though a bit pricey at $15.00 for a liter bottle and only bottled for about a month in the winter. This year they're supposed to come out with a Bourbon Barrel Stout too, but I haven't seen it yet.

Not yet. I kind of forgot it was in there. I saw the pimpin' and thought to myself, man it would be nice to find one of those. Getting old sucks. :football: Maybe that'll be a good beer for tonight if I can get all my #### done and get a decent workout in.

Drinking Miller Lite and loving every bit of it.F'n beersnobs.
Nothing wrong with that. Miller Lite is great if you need to like water your plants or rinse off some dishes or something like that. If I'm going to drink something I typically prefer a bit of flavor but more power to you and it saves more drinkable beer for the rest of us.

Greetings, beer snobs.

Long-time listener ... first-time caller.

Goose Island Bourbon County Stout has come to town, and it's kicking the #### out of my taste buds.

Imagine a perfect head on a glass of motor oil, an odor that can chase a wife into the next room, a consistency of thick, black licorice and you might be closing in on this gem.

I won't be drinking a dozen of them tonight, but half-way through, number one is bliss.

Once I pick up a room-temp 4-pack, at least one is definitely headed out West, Gator.

:(

I'm not sure if it's proper protocol around these parts to call myself a ####, but I don't see myself drinking too many of the Bourbon County Stouts in succession.

That said, the transition to a Goose Island Demolition Ale was exceptional, and almost more than I could ever ask for from a beer.

Tonight, I'm living the life most of you can only dream of.

Yep.

I'm the young bull that races down the hill to #### one of the sheep, right now ... but I'm here to learn and ask really freaking stupid questions in the process.

So, whatever happened to the beer you supposedly got yesterday?

The Demo is only so-so in comparison to most of their white label beers. You'd be much better off switching to the Imperial IPA or even the Pere Jacques (if you can get that right now). The Demo is just too unbalanced to follow such a strong beer like the Bourbon County. Try that next time, and report back. When you get done ####### your sheep anyway........ETA:Welcome, New Guy. Hope to see you around these parts more often and contributing too.

Avery Old Jubilation. Had it last night. Gave it a 3.6
hmm.... got it at my liquor store. was wanting a Christmas beer. they only had SN Celebration in 12-packs (which he won't break down  ) for $14.99. instead i waffled between the Avery and some 2005 Anchor. grabbed the Anchor.

Grazie ..This is the kind of shepherding I'm looking for. What means unbalanced, Precious?Outlet nearby doesn't carry the Imperial, only the aforementioned reserves; however, the main center across town definitely has it.
