Bakes makes an excellent point. As a beer ages it will lose some of its fresh hop character. If that is the primary part of the beer (Ruination and Hop Whallop come to mind), then drink it sooner. If the beer has a nice malt character with a decent amount of alcohol, it should age well.

The Pinieness was my main problem with the 10th. I look forward to the GI IIPA even more now. If I can find a 10th, I wouldn't mind giving it a second chance and doing the side by side.
