What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Grimbergen - an abbey dubbel

Made in Waarloos, Belgium

It's a pretty inexpensive double that I can find in a few super markets here in Madrid.
Any Good?
It gets decent scores
Like I said before, it's not a fantastic dubbel, and in fact upon reflection I can say that this beer is forced carbonated and filtered, and therefore doesn't have the same characteristics of a more traditional abbey ale. This is not a Trappist beer by any stretch of the imagination, which is why I can get it for like 1/3 of the cost of Chimay Blu.To me the initial taste is too sweet and the maltiness is lacking.

Did we ever decide on a name for the beer message board and website?ETA:Missed TTs reply up there. So we have:beeraddiction.combeertalk.com (starting March 31st apparently)craftbeertalk.combeerguystalk.comhopaholics.comAny others? Just trying to get one settled for the phpbb setup for the new board.
Will that board be at the desired URL that we decide upon? If not, I will go ahead and buy the URL in case we need it.
I don't see why not. We can use the phpbb board setup, then link to it from a URL for fairly cheap. The site setup can follow that whenever 3C's gets off his duff to get things rolling.
Right after I set up the next BOTMC. :penalty:
Actually, that's Heckman's job.

I am close to securing this site name, but would like a little more feedback. Gator and beaglemac both say they like it. Any other input?
:winner:Feel free to do it if you still want to. I like that. We can call it "the B Spot".

Four pages since I last logged in? I'm too tired to go back through them all. Let me know if I missed anything important.

Oh, yesterday I got a box from NG with some Founders Breakfast Stout in it :yay:

And now, Rogue Morimoto Black Obi Soba ale
We are trying to come up with the url for our new site. I suggested thebeerspot.com and reviews have been positive.
Winnah winnah chicken dinnah
I feel like a proud papa with this name.
So what is the overall goal of starting up a site?
To ditch furley. :bag:

Don't worry. You're not going anywhere. Consider yourself the "plucky comic relief" of our group. Or the guy on Star Trek in the red shirt that beams down and always got killed. Whichever.
Ensign Leibowitz!
I always remember the part in Galaxy Quest where they discuss this exact scene.

will this new forum have room for beer reviews? something like at BA?do we have a coding :moneybag: amongst us who is willing to do it?
Long term, hopefully. Initially it will just be a new place to hang out. NG have a lot of things that we would like to do with it eventually. We will see how it develops.

Looking at some of my reviews of DIPAs for beaglemac, here are some lesser known ones I rated highly.Midnight Sun Cohoho IIPAJohn Harvard's Demon DPATyranena Hop WhoreAlpine Pure HoppinessLeft Hand Twin Sisters DIPASouthern Tier Unearthly IIPATown Hall Warrior DIPA
:lmao: now I just need to find these.
Skylord's your best shot for the Alpine. I'll second that this one is lesser known (still gets good ratings) but almost comparable to the big boys.
Will look for tomorrow while here, but can't see how a brew ranked a 91 at BA is underrated, but I will have to believe you.
Order Alpine online, thats your best shot. I need to drive deep into east San Diego to find it, something I rarely do

I emailed my beer guy last week to see if he'd seen any Hopslam around. Didn't hear back from him. Then he sent out his normal weekly newsletter. "Beer guys, not much new to report....blah blah blah."Me> :loco:Then a new email comes:I have one six pack of hopslam waiting on the side for you.Cheers:thumbup:
Ask him if this is a new batch if you get a chance... I am seeing all around and not sure what is going on in Kalamazoo, but something tells me the distributor here held some out and the unleashed them once the demand was high (due to limited amount the released the first time around). If anyone needs some in a trade let me know, I have 12 and can get them for about $16 a 6er (which is much higher then it was when I got my 2 cases before (44 a case)).
I can currently get HopSlam for 12.49/6. Not sure if it is a new batch or not.
$13.49/6. Not too bad considering the travel and middle man markups. I was one of 3 fortunate to snap a 6 pack.

That 16 was with tax and MI 10cent a bottle Deposit... gdb adding a dollar to the price of beer.

I have heard through the grapevine that 30 kegs of HopSlam are coming to NC. If one doesn't come to Asheville I may have to make a road trip.

TT> where's my Masala Mama?
Probably still at Town Hall.
:sadbanana:
I have done too many trades and I know you have done the same since someone beermailed me about NG and had already been shot down by you. Why don't you get that lazy bum Bax to pick up some MM for you?
Beermailed you about me? I assume the Brothers screened it.....
The other beer thread NG, New Glarus.

This just reconfirms that they may be rereleasing it. I can't imagine 30 kegs sitting around since October.
From what I've read they brewed it again for release in January.
The Batch ID that you entered '7787', is a Bell's Hopslam Ale. Your Bell's Hopslam Ale was packaged on January 5, 2007.
Mine is batch 7806 which hasn't been entered into their database. Not found.
