What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

any of you beer guys try Rauchbier? The Tucher reminds me of it - not in taste, but from my honeymoon. We spent a day in Bamburg, Germany which is a small town with 5 breweries hundreds of years old, an awesome cathedral, cool olde tymie stuff, etc. They have the Rauchbier almost exclusively there, and it's some weird stuff. It reminded me of eating a grilled sausage while I was drinking the beer with the smokey taste. I didn't like it, but by the time I was done with my first I was ready for a second. Definately an acquired taste, but a taste easily acquired after on beer.Anyways, they carry Schlenkerla at the new beer/wine store that I just found, and I'll be drinking more of this stuff in the future.
Yep. Bamberg is where I was going when I passed through Nurnberg. A :pics: of a couple of my buddies getting ready to drink a smoky beer.
:highfive: Pretty sure I've been to that same brewery - looks familiar. It's not Schlenkerla, but it's right next door, right? My wife :banned: in what I think might be the same brewery, enjoying a non-smoked beer. She claims that this picture captures the best beer she has ever had.
Had to verify (compared my pictures to the one's on their site...pretty sure it's Schlenkerla. Their picture. One I took a couple of minutes after the one I posted earlier. :pics: Also went to the new bar a couple doors down, Ambrausianum. Very good Hefe. One of my favorites.
Ambrausianum - yeah, that's where we were. Fantastic stuff there. I think Bamburg was my favorite town in Germany.

Yeah, great place. We met the owner and talked for a while. Great guy. One of the guys I was with is the beeradvocate guide for Germany. He talked a little BA, flashed a card, etc and the owner bought us lunch. :lmao: I really liked Bamberg. Needed more than the 4 or so hours we stayed there.

WTF are you guys not doing over at BTG?

I think it was Furley who reccomended OMMEGANG. Fantastic, especially for the price. I have since finished my wifes Tucher, and have moved on to Sam Adams BA.

well played.for the Belgian drinkers - do you drink out of a chalise, and does it make a difference?
Personally I don't like chalise's because I can't get a good bouquet in one. I generally use snifters or tulip glasses.
I like pint glasses.
 I drink from a pint glass normally though I will pull out a weizen glass if I plan on having a few hefeweizens or the Duvel tulip if having a few Belgians.

I drink my beer from the skull of a dead Cossack...a dirty skull of a dead Cossack.
better a Cossack than a Ballsack - that's what grandpappy always said.

This is usually the glass I use for most of my drinking.
