What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

The Octoberfests are beginning to come out which is one of my favorite times of the year. My three favorite 'fests of last year were:

Penn Brewing's Octoberfest

Sam Adams Octoberfest

Weyebacher's Autumnfest
Hopefully I'll be able to find some of that down here (likely). They seem to make good German style beers. Really like their pilsner.

I tried guys. I really tried. But I just can't get into IPA's.

Back to the Hefe's for me.
Which did you try?
I tried a bunch, including Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada. The taste just isn't for me.One thing I will say for IPA's though, they got me F'd up! I drank a sixer of SN Bigfoot and I got knocked off my butt.
:towelwave: I wouldn't doubt it. That's a barleywine, not an IPA. They're like 11% ABV each. A buddy of mine made the same mistake. You didn't drink them straight out of the bottle too, did ya?
for the record, i had 3 of these one nite and felt like i dropped acid or something.not that i'm the benchmark but... a 6-pack! egads.

Yeah...mentioning Sierra Nevada made me think of the Bigfoot. It's the drunkest I've been in a while.I've just found I like the smoother beers a little more to my liking. Boddington's is my go-to brew at the moment, for example.

Although I will always be thankful to the guys in this thread for introducing me to St. Bernardus...which is one of my absolute favorite beers to drink while watching football.

Gator (and fans of Schlafly beer),

Here is the list of what is available on tap as of today, 8-8-07 at high noon:

Hefeweizen

Witbier

Helles

Weissbier

Pilsner

Dortmunder

Ryebier

Pale Ale

APA (American Pale Ale)

Scharzbier

Oatmeal Stout

Bockbier

Out of those, the Hefe, Pale Ale, APA, Oatmeal Stout, and Pilsner are *CONFIRMED* available in bottle form. And again, at last check, I could have sworn I saw some No. 15 still available in bottle form. So, combine this list with the previous list and you'll have an idea of what I can offer. Again, those not available in bottles will be available in Growler (half-gallon) form from the tap.

I'd be interested in one each of the Hefe, PA, APA, Pilsner, and 2 of the Stouts. I think I can nab 6 brews from here that you would like.

Just changed the list at work...

Red Hook Longhammer & ESB

Widmer Hefeweizen

Stuck with Sierra Nevada PA & 3 Abita's

I've been scouring the beer vendors for better stuff...but the west coast seems to hoard everything I like.

Interesting, because all 6 would be easily available in 6-pack form.Should we do one 6-pack per week? I figure that would be easier shipping wise, then again I've never shipped alcohol of any kind so I'm a bit foreign to the process. And if possible, could you make DFH 90-minute IPA the first beer you send?

Sorry, by one each i meant one bottle each, save for the Stout. The DFH is not available here. I have to trade for it to get it. I can find 6 different brews you would enjoy.

Pretty much anything that isn't a Stout, I'll be more than happy to try. The more alcohol content and/or flavor, the better.

Not sure what they will have at the Brews in the Village but check out Lengthwise and Kern River Brewing company if they have it. Pretty decent stuff and local.

just cracked a Molson Export  that I brought back from Quebec City

Bought some Belle Gueule :blackdot: which I like , the nasty Export and some Molson Dry . The Dry is ok when its hot & the beer is ice cold but then almost any beer is.

Grabbing a Belle Gueule Rousse instead on the Export

Gator, bad news and GREAT news:

Bad news: Could not get the Oatmeal Stout. Checked all the gas stations and grocery stores within a 5-mile radius of my apartment and just could not find it. Not sure what's up there.

Great news: SCHALFLY MAKES AN IPA!!!!! Picked up a 6-pack of Schlafly Export IPA Special Reserve along with the APA (which isn't the dry-hopped, btw, couldn't find that either, it's the Expedition Reserve) and Pilsner to go along with the Pale Ale, Hefeweizen, and Kolsch Ale that I already had.

So, instead of the stouts, how about an IPA and Kolsch Ale instead?

Regarding the IPA, here's what Schlafly.com says:

Schlafly IPA Logo Export IPA(May 25)This full-bodied traditional English-style ale is brewed with a high gravity and extra hops, which originally helped to preserve the beer on long voyages from England to India. 8% ABV
The brewed-on date on the bottle is rubbed out, so I'm not sure how old this stuff is. :goodposting: I'll have a review of it tonight when we play the Gears.
