What political issues are your top priorities to solve? (1 Viewer)

Short term, ending the drug war, immigration reform, and foreign policy are the big three for me. Yes, shifting to a consumption-based tax system might be more economically efficient, but the income tax doesn't have a ####### body count, so it's hard for me to consider it quite as urgent.

Long term, scaling back the NSA and placing enforceable limits on domestic surveillance is important for democracy to continue functioning. I'd also like to switch to instant runoff elections, or really any of the dozens of voting systems that are better than our current one.

As much as I hate to say it....term limits
I've never understood why people think this would improve things. If there's one thing we should all agree on, it's that our problems are complex. They are not easily solved. Some of them will take years or even decades to solve, even if we start on the right track now. It seems to me that term limits would serve to derail any long term plans. Whoever comes in new would want to put through their own plans and everything would start all over again. There would be no continuity. I just think it's a terrible idea.
A politician's top priority is to get re-elected. That's what it would solve.
With term limits, their top priority would be to curry enough favor with some organization to get a job after their term is up.

Personally, I prefer the system where they have to at least pretend to care about their constituents.

overpopulation (any problem we have can be linked to overpopulation in some capacity. While "fixing" overpopulation would not get rid of all these issues, it would help all of them and greatly help many of them). People feel they have the right to have as many kids as they want on the government dime. I don't agree.

legalize weed everywhere finally

Not sure how getting rid of term limit would solve their top priority of getting re-elected. The next guy in line will have that same top priority.

Essentially the whole voting and election process is jacked up and rigged to fail the American public. I wouldnt even know where to begin with that. All I can really look at is specific problems on a smaller scale. Maybe someone in here has a great idea on how to fix things. But if you do, I will stay away, cause chances are you will be shot.

But a couple more I just thought of for ####s and giggles.

- oil. we clearly have other means of energy but wont use it till they bleed us dry on the oil. Every see "who killed the electric car". ####ers bought the technology and scrapped it. Regular size cars were getting 250 miles per charge like 10-15 years ago. Cmonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

- The whole idea of lobbyists has to go.
