What song are you listening to right now? (1 Viewer)

Happy Earth Day everyone! 🌎

Emitt Rhodes - Mother Earth (1970)

Mother Earth, God bless you
May the Lord protect and keep you.

David Bowie - Fashion . "Beep Beep"

Bonus track. David Bowie and Trent Reznor - I'm afraid of Americans. "Johnny wants a woman, Johnny wants to think of a joke"

Friday Pilots Club - Sleeping On The Ceiling (2023)

A banger that I somehow missed from this Chicago band.

"This song could be twice as long and it still wouldn't be long enough."

So, this is completely out of left field for me and not in my wheelhouse whatsoever. I watch a guy (Ed) on YouTube called "Old Guy HiFi" and he reviews new and vintage HiFi equipment, but his passion lies in the music that's played through the equipment.

Ed suggested this song from Sierra Hull called Boom which I cannot take credit for discovering but I will accept the blame for suggesting it if you dislike it. Again, it's out of left field for me, but it's so odd, it's not blues, jazz, country or bluegrass but, to my ears, it's kind of a mashup of those genres. Again, not something I would ever seek out but it's kinda funky and I dig it.

It is all over the map. At the link they use the hashtag "Americana". It is that, I guess (alhough I've seen that term used mostly by Europeans and not sure what exactly they mean by that). I would also say it falls arguably into the categories of Alt Country, Neo-Folk and/or possibly Roots Rock.

Billie Holiday - You Go To My Head

one of my favorites of the last 10+ years just popped on my Spotify DJ (aussie's Eddy Current Suppression Ring)

Rehab - Bartender Song

Fun song from back in the day.

"When I got home it was six am
The door was locked, so I kicked it in"

Harvard Krokodiloes - On The Street Where You Live
(Sanders Theatre, Harvard University, April 5th 2024)

Harvard "a cappella" group does a tune from the 1956 Broadway musical My Fair Lady.

Lead vocalist gives this a lighter touch than most renditions which are too "operatic" for my tastes.

Sorry, live version not available on Spotify.

Listening and watching when I can...
The oh sees, the dream- original lineup with only the one drummer... Unless you count 2nd guitarist face.

Going with nothing but J. Geils the rest of the day to get to the weekend. This is what's on shuffle play for me right now.

I'm guessing there probably aren't a ton of fans in these parts, but hopefully there are a few.

New favorite song ... but since 2024 doesn't qualify for "New Music", I'll leave this here;

Balu Brigada - So Cold

Great song. I thought so too when it came out and posted it at the time in the 2024 New Music thread. :-)

Honky Tonk Women
Mermans Mosengo and Keb Mo
(Playing for Change)
this is so nice
