If I didn't sell my portfolio, I would have not made as much money on the day, right?

If I didn't touch my HEMP, I would have 1,651 shares @ $0.08 per share.

Since I sold and rebought my HEMP, I now have 1,666 shares @ $0.08 per share.

It's a moderate gain but definitely a better move than 'doing nothing'. Transaction fees gouged me a bit but I like the position I'm in. I know what the % yields were and I want to see if I can consistently create them.
I haven't been paying close attention, but are you saying you paid $16 in transaction fees today to add 15 shares of a stock valued at $0.08?

That's right. So he is up 39% on the day.

(made those numbers up because that appears to be the theme of the thread)

IT'S WAY MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT YOU SIMPLETON GET OUT OF THIS THREAD IF YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PROVES THAT LONG TERM HE WILL BE A BRAZILLIONAIRE

Market is closed. Let's recap the day.

JANUARY 28TH, CLOSING

MARKET VALUE OF PORTFOLIO: $739.76

PRICE PAID: $681.3

CHANGE SINCE PURCHASE: $58.22 (8.55%)

-

TRANSACTIONS:

SOLD 1651 HEMP @ $0.083 PER SHARE

+$137.033

BOUGHT 1666 HEMP @ $0.0714 PER SHARE

+$118.95

NOTES:

I woke up to find my HEMP stock up 25%. I literally ran downstairs to sell this stock as quickly as possible. At one point it was valued at $0.087 per share. I jumped on that sale and ended up selling it for $0.083 per share.

I scooped up 1,666 shares @ $0.0714 per share.

The share closed at $0.08 per share.

1651 @ .08 = 132.08

1666 @ .08 = 133.28

Difference of $1.20

MINUS ~$16 in transaction fees brings us to

-$14.80 on the day.

Conclusion... no, you are not better now than where you were this morning.
Are you being serious?

OPEN

1,651 shares of HEMP @ $.0709 per share.

I don't get what you could possibly have wanted me to do differently. My stock's value increased in and I also own more shares of it.

What Witz and Mario are trying to tell you is that you don't have to actually sell your stock to "practice" your day trading. Just pretend, write it down on paper and do the math. That way you wont loose money because you don't have $500 dollars a month yet.

I've flipped HEMP stock for a 84% and a 39% profit. I'm about to make another 12% profit. I'm registering LOW YIELDS because of transaction fees exclusively, if I was investing $500 a pop on these I would have seen profits of:

$420.

$195.

$60.
You keep mentioning your % gain but it means nothing because its so small.
It's not the size of the boat, it's the motion in the ocean.

OK, then guys. What should I have done with my stock today? Let it sit?

If I didn't TOUCH my stock. I would have:

1,651 shares worth $0.08 per share.

Since I did TOUCH my stock. It's currently worth:

1,666 shares worth $0.08 per share.

What exactly did I screw up?

Start a podcast. Pretty sure anyone can do these now. It's the equivalent to Public Access TV for this generation. You could be the next Jim Cramer. If your stock picks continue to do well, your followers will increase. Eventually you can turn it into a pay service.

Every smart business person knows that you don't get rich looking for the gold. You get rich selling the supplies that people need to go searching for that gold.
I couldn't like this post twice. Great suggestion, Shiek.

You're completely ignoring transaction fees for one thing. When a single transaction fee equates to 8% of your portfolio, that's a big difference.

If you did nothing today and retained your 1651 shares (at an average cost basis of .0545), you would have had 1651 * .08 for $132.08 AND $15.90 in uninvested cash for a total of $147.98

Based on what you did, you now have 1666 shares (at a cost basis of .0714), you have 1666 * .08 for $133.28 LESS $15.90 for the fees you paid for a total of $117.38

This is what folks are saying that if you did nothing today, you'd be sitting better than you are now. We're just talking about FOR TODAY. Who knows whether the stock will take off tomorrow or not.

Feelings, intentions, etc all aside, this is your balance sheet as of right now.

I think he has already factored in the transition fees. He was able to add 15 extra shares including paying for the transaction fees. That slick move netted him a total of $1.20 worth of extra stock! You just don't make those kind of deals everyday....

It's understandable that you'd resort to name calling when you don't have a valid position to stand on.

When everyone is telling you that you are mistaken, there is probably a reason for that.

Not everyone has several hundred k to invest at 22. Daniel Boone & Warren Beatty both started with less than Eminem and now they own the Oklahoma State Cowboys and a world famous buffet chain

Smartest guy in the thread.

I'll run through this niiiiice and slooow for you guys:

Here's what I did:

SOLD - $0.083 x 1641 = $136.20 - $7.95

VALUE - $128.25

BOUGHT - $0.071 x 1666 = $118.286 - $7.95

VALUE - $110.33

The stock then increased to $0.08 per share.

1,666 x $0.08 per share = $133.28

-

Here's what would have happened if I didn't touch my stock at all

OPEN: $0.0709 x 1651 = $117.05

CLOSE: $0.08 x 1651 = $132.08

-

VALUE OF SHARES @ OPENING: = $110.67

VALUE OF SHARES WHEN SOLD @ $0.083 PER SHARE = $129.563

VALUE OF SHARES CURRENTLY = $128.25

Does this make sense to you guys?

If anyone would have matched my initial investment, we'd easily be in the GREEN right now. Transaction fees would become a decreasingly less of an issue with more people's money involved. Our % increase would remain the same, just the transaction fees would be nullfied.

The best part however, is that you'd be invested in the Eminence Fund™.

He purposely led everyone to believe he didn't include the transaction fees. That's why this is a big :fishing:
