What's the difference between arrogance and self-confidence? (1 Viewer)

Suppose a new guy has started at your work. What kinds of things could this guy do/say to make you think he was arrogant? What kinds of things could this guy do/say to make you think he was self-confident?

There is a fine line between these two imo and some people could pick up the wrong impression.

For a new person, this would be an example for me

Self confidence

I can do that task

Arrogance

I can do that task better than xx

Self-confident: "I can get the job done."

Arrogant: "I can get the job done better than anybody else."
I don't think this is true. You can still say "I can do xxx better than anyone" and still not be arrogant. To me the difference is being humble. If you can be humble you aren't arrogant.

You can think it and know it but you can't say it without people thinking you are arrogant.

I say it all the time, but when I'm proven wrong I can admit it. Being humble and self confident, not arrogant. If I was arrogant I would totally ignore that I was wrong.

Honestly, arrogance is refusing to learn along the way. Thinking you're complete already.

Self confidence is doing and learning. Knowing that you're pretty good at what you do and want to improve.

Peyton Manning was confident. Ryan leaf was arrogant.
