What's up with Matt Ryan? (1 Viewer)

The FBG cheat sheet has him ranked 25th below Dennis Dixon, Josh Freeman and *really?* Jason Campbell. What's up with that? I know the Steelers have a good Defense, he's playing at Pittsburgh (never easy) and his pre-season was sucktacular but 25th? Really? I'm thinking of starting Matt Stafford in front of him and Detroit plays the Bears. . . in Chicago. . .help me out here before I stumble out of the gate here in week 1! Is Ryan injured, piss off the head coach, in a contract dispute, etc.?

I think it is a healthy Defensive squad led by most of the Steeler's TEAM leaders that are pushing Ryans' week 1 stock down. Troy P, Harrison, Woodley and Farrior are savy vets that are most likely going to be called on to take the reigns today and give Pittsburgh a shot at winning.

This Pitt. defensive unit was very solid last year before getting bit with the injury bug. I think this is a tough spot for Ryan. On the road in a hostile environment, with a team who knows that it can not afford to start out slow. I am benching him for Palmer today.

Its a combination of Pitts D and a conservative Falcons offense. At this point Ryan should be at best a 2-headed QB where you really have to pick and choose your matchups. Pitt is not one of them.

Cool - thanks for the replies - that's pretty much what I thought but then sometimes I out think myself. This week I won't and I'll bench him.

Add in the fact that Pittsburgh won't be putting up much in the way of points without a QB. This game will be low scoring. Once ATL gets out to a comfy lead, they will run the ball on 'O' and attack Dixon on 'D'.

I expect Ryan to have to play catch up ball today. With no success. The game is the season opener in Pittsburgh. The Steeler D has a chip on their shoulder due to all of the criticism they received for blowing leads last year. Troy and Aaron are back. The Falcons may at some point have a lead, but no way that they reach any point that can be considered "comfy".Here we go Steelers!

:goodposting: Though I bleed black-n-gold, the fact is that the Falcons' D will attack Dixon aggressively and I don't think that he'll be able to respond to the pressure. With Mendenhall the focus for us and the Falcons running m. turner a bunch, this does indeed look like a low-scoring game. Maybe one TD pass for Ryan - say 13-10 decision for one team or ther other IMO not a great fantasy Sunday for either offense
