Where Did Cecil Go? (Thursday Audible Live Show) (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

First, apologies if this has been asked and answered already.  I did a search for "cecil "audible live" and got nothing.

My question is simple - why isn't Cecil hosting the Thursday Audible Lives anymore?  I know in the past that Bloom has said may be "on assignment" for the season, but are there any details?

The show simply isn't the same without him.  No offense to Sig, he's a great host too, but to me there's no greater host for the show than Cecil, and the synergy that Cecil, Sig, Waldman, and Jene had in their respective roles is second to none.  I miss it!

Will we get the gang back together for the next season?  Or should we expect this change to last?

This doesn’t answer your question as a whole but fwiw I believe Bloom said there would be no Thursday show this week at all due to “Halloween”.  Just a heads up.

No worries. Cecil was off last week https://www.footballguys.com/podcasts/show/theaudible  He also does work for the Broncos and he was covering the Thursday night game. He'll be back tonight. Sigmund sometimes will also be off based on other commitments. He's out tonight. But for the most part, it's the regular crew as always. Thanks for being part of it.

Rofl.. 

Not much of a forums guy anymore.  Way back when I was, but been a decade or so since I've been a part of a forum.  FBG forums seems like a great place to re-start if I was to get back into following a forum closely, but honestly my attention span will have me doin somethin else within a few months, haha. 

But! I'm always tuning into to FBG podcasts every football season.  Always using the site for the articles.  But there's the account I sign in with to view the Season Long page, and apparently the nickname you have to log into to participate in the forums.  Hence I never have really logged into the nickname profile after signing in with my website credentials, as I don't find myself on the forums often.

I had to post!  I miss the old Thursday show with the old Thursday crew!

I suppose this goes back to my original question, is there a specific reason why Cecil is no longer the primary host for the Thursday night show?  For as long as I can remember, he was the host, and it was him w/ Sig & Matt & Jene, pretty much 15-16 weeks of the 17 week season for all 4-5 years (outside of being on assignment once or twice a season) I've been following the FBG podcast network.  It was routine!  More than 100 episodes with near-zero deviation for as long as I've been tuning-in!

Whereas this season, I believe Week 8 is Cecil's first appearance on the Thursday show.  The new format with Sig hosting, and the addition of Mr. Chris Allen, seems to be the norm for 2021.

It'd be like if in 2022, "On The Bean Bag with Sigmund Bloom" was mysteriously, and without mention, the new Bloom podcast.  Not quite the same.. we've all gotten used to those stale chips and spare sets of keys and pennies and dimes stuck in the couch..

Apologies if I'm a nuisance.  I just really enjoyed watching those Thursday shows the next day at work.  They provided a great swath of information through the prime synergy of whom I consider to be the Mount Rushmore of FBG Podcast members.  I can imagine I'm not alone in wondering why the format of one of FBG's best shows changed.

Though I realize it has not been solicited, nor is it more than my humble opinion, I will do what I perceive to be my part in preserving and contributing towards FBG's greatness by offering my feedback as your customer.  

Though Mr. Chris Allen knows his stuff, I do not believe it was a worthwhile endeavor to disturb what was such a "great thing".  Don't mess with a good thing, as they say.  The show as it was offered some of the greatest medical, between-the-numbers, and philosophical discussion/debate anywhere on the internet.  The synergy between Cecil, Sigmund, Matt, and Jene was second-to-none.  I hesitate to believe there is 'no reason' to disturb such a successful multi-yeared (multi-decade?) program, and while I understand I am not entitled to any reason,  I am of the opinion that for whatever reason/non-reason the format was changed, what was lost in abandoning the historical show format and synergy is greater than what was gained for that reason/non-reason.

Thank you Joe for taking the time out of your day to deal with just one football guy.
