Rudi Stein appears to think that Keanu is not a good actor, and that Point Break was a "crap sandwich". Even though he's obviously wrong, I've heard other people claiming that Keanu should be outside the top 20 of his generation. If you mistakenly feel that he's outside the top 20, please name the actors you think are better than Keanu.

Every member of SAG with balls that has cashed a check in the last 25 years > Reeves. He's beyond awful.

I can think of a bunch that might be out of the age range you're thinking. Ralph Fiennes, David Strathairn

If you want a serious answer, you'll have to tell me what you consider "his generation." Are we considering all current actors or just those in a given age group?

Not a bad list. I'll give you Carrey, I'd mildly object to Clive Owen, Del Toro and Viggo, but I'm sure other people would put the occasional actor ahead of them, so that's a fine start. I noticed a lot of hyperbole in this thread but not a lot of serious lists like this. Disappointing.

I thought Carrey would be the one name people would dispute.

I have always thought he was a horrible actor, but I thought his bad acting made Point break and The Replacements that much better. I laugh everytime he said something corny.

I have plans on St. Patricks day, so is cool if I list the actors who are worse than Keanu? It would be a LOT quicker for me.

Do a search of all actors in their 40s on IMDB.Cut and paste the first 20 guys whose last name starts with "A"

I thought Brett Favre's performance in There's something about Mary was slightly less wooden and stilted than Keanu's best performance which BTW was in Parenthood.

He sucks. His attempts at Shakespeare were awful. He was great as Bill, and I liked Point Break (as a "B" movie.) Obviously he's maxed his potential at the California dude level.

Jason Bateman is better
Either you have Keanu second on the list, or you aren't very good at following instructions.
Jack Black is better
You, Rudi and Rudnicki. That's about the list of people who feel that way.
Add me in here. Keanu sucks.
:thumbup:Reeves is horrible.Pick 5 random 80s ensemble movies and every male actor in them was/is better than Keanu. He is laughably/enfuriatingly bad.Doesn't stop some of his movies from being decent- I enjoyed Point Break, My Own Private Idaho, Bill and Teds, and loved Matrix... all despite Keanu's cringe-worthy performances.

Nicholas Cage has the same kind of cringe-worthiness. Brett Favre, with whom he was compared unfavorably, has never been a leading actor. So which actors would you put ahead of him? It's easy to say he's outside the top 50, but I only saw one person actually naming a list of actors who have done better, and that list was pretty short.

He's somewhere around Michael J Fox good. Which isn't all that good. Teen Wolf is arguably as good as anything Keanu has ever done.

Like I said- give me any 5 ensemble movies from the 80s and I'll give you a bunch of actors better than Keanu Reeves. Being in a lot of movies, some of them good, doesn't make him a good actor. Nick Cage gets a lifetime pass for Raising Arizona (thought he was hilarious in Vampire's Kiss too)... and at least he tries some range. Keanu, not so much.

Does he get into the Top 15 for that video he did with Paula Abdul where played a James Dean type?

I thought he was particularly good in these three roles. No one will ever confuse him with being a very good actor, but he's shown that he can be more versatile and credible than the usual California stoner doofuses he typically portrays.

I don't think he's an actor. He seems like the same guy in every movie... he's just being himself.
