Where in the world are the middle-aged dummies? Worldwide top 31 song countdown. (2 Viewers)

I was having more trouble with this one than I expected. Last night only came up with 27 artists off the top of my head, and a couple of the artists were stretches and one was listed as "that Australian band that sings that one song" (getting old is fun). But then I went through my favorite songs playlist and realized I'm a dummy. It's an embarrassment of riches.

I had forgotten about Nickelback at first too.
You are a Leader Of Men

@krista4, speaking of New Zealand bands, remind me to post a post-contest link to an American performing a cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

We should not overlook @krista4 's underappreciated contribution to humanity, which is setting the standard of capitalizing the first letter of EVERY word in a song title.

:eternal thanks:

I will gladly take a PM from anyone that is willing to share their artist list.
Same here. I had six months of retirement and could not stand it. So I kept my license and took a normal job and having a blast. Any help would be appreciated.

And oh ****, I've asked AAABatteries for this list before. I'm screwed

Eligibility question...

If a band has both American AND English members they'd be valid for this countdown, right? Because such a situation would have invalidated then from each of the last lists.
I believe so. Also known as the "Benedict Arnold" exemption.

So we all just doing 31 songs from one band this time??

Honestly, I think that would be a fun countdown/draft as well. Each of us bring to the table their top 31 songs from a band/artist, but we don't say who it is before the draft starts.

Presumably those of us who did a single-artist countdown would have to come up with something else, since those cards have been played.

Did you finish your Radiohead list yet?

I've got dibs on Blind Faith.

Yes-ish.

ETA: dammit, I hadn't thought of your avatar for this countdown yet. Added to the research.

Of course. I just figured most of us have 5-10 bands we love enough to throw together 31 songs for. I guess the downfall would be if several of us do the same artist.

I limited myself to one song per artist in the British Isles and plan to do the same here.

I like your countdown idea a lot! I’d be willing to forego the Beatles on that.

I think this is a great idea.

@krista4 please enact the KP is forbidden from selecting Tool clause we discussed privately. I pay in quantities (but not quality) of vino.

Knowing this crew, there would probably be digging a little deeper for a band to highlight, but maybe I am wrong. We could also figure out way to do either a public or secret random order/draft and limit it to only one drafter allowed/artist.

Does Tool even have 31 songs? ;)

This eligibility thing is ****ing me over.
So if a band had US and British Isles members they weren’t eligible for either list? Like the Police?
Eligibility: The rules for eligibility in this countdown will be "songs that weren't eligible in the first two countdowns"; please refer to the eligibility requirements and ineligible lists in those for guidance.
So the Police are eligible here?

"mixed" bands that were not eligible (i.e. The Police) can be used in this one.

Careful of partial catalogs, though.
Quote function sure sucks.
Thanks all. Therefore you could do a list of 31 easily comprised entirely of UK and US artists with the rules set up in the first two.
Pretty good lists too.

Thats boring though. 31 countries, here i come.

If people are actually interested in that other idea of submitting 31 from one artist, we could make a rule like you can't do a band that scored in the top 10 or20 of these 3 drafts. That might make it more interesting and trim down the odds of getting multiple drafters with the same artist.
