Where is the best place to get high quality photo prints done these days? (1 Viewer)

BDay gift for my Mom so want the pic to be good quality.

Is the kiosk at Walgreens just as good as anything?   Are there still camera shops that do photo prints?  Online?

And I realize everything is digital these days, but this is a 75 yr old woman who loves her prints and frames on a shelf and she specifically asked for this as her gift.

I'm no expert but my wife used to get quite large prints made at Costco for a reasonable price.  Pictures taken on her phone and transferred to a 16X24 print still look pretty good to me.

She used to do some thing where she put it over a canvas and brushed some crap over it.  I have one of the twins hanging in my office.  I think the quality is pretty good.

We do Costco as well, but have also used Walgreens. Any place like that should be fine.  They may not be "Patta x Parra x Nike Air Max 1 Cherrywood" quality but good enough for framing.

That made me laugh.  Its called Mod Podge, I think.  Its like a clear coat preservative type thing.  Gives it a bit of a brushed look.

Wow.  My dad played softball with Louie Abitbol back in the 70's.  I remember when they were a hole in the wall place off the Park Avenue exit.

I've never met anyone there, but my inlaws use to be wedding photographers, so they used them and referred them to me when my clients needed large format images. THey have been great to work with and very good quality prints.

He's the original owner.  I used to be the bat boy and we would pick him up at Bay Photo in Capitola all the time.  Cool dude.

I've done color and B&W. The website is a touch counterintuitive, but I figured it out. And if your picture is not high resolution enough for the size you want, the app will tell you.

If your pic is low resolution, run it through here. I've done this for a few pics with great success.

I'll add a couple things. First, always look for a coupon. There is always a 50% coupon available out there.

Today I received a mail-ordered set of prints. They stupidly put prints in a triangle box, not a tube. Probably saving money. Of course the prints got creased somehow. So I'll be going back to picking up in-store.

Mpix and Printique have really high quality prints, though they are usually a bit pricier than other places.

I’m not sure if it is still the case, but in-store Walmart printers used to be some of the higher quality printers. Not the instant ones, but if you ordered online for in-store pickup, their printers were actually really good while be cheaply priced.
