Which College has produced the best NFL players historically? (1 Viewer)

Most Hall of Famers

Southern California - Marcus Allen, Morris (Red) Badgro, Frank Gifford, Ronnie Lott, Ron Mix, Anthony Muñoz, O.J. Simpson* , Lynn Swann, Willie Wood, Ron Yary*

Notre Dame - Nick Buoniconti, Dave Casper, George Connor* , Paul Hornung, John (Blood) McNally* , Wayne Millner, Joe Montana, Alan Page, George Trafton, Jerome Bettis

If we're talking all-time, let's put Pitt in this conversation.

QB - Dan Marino

RBs - Tony Dorsett, Curtis Martin, Ironhead Heyward

WRs - Larry Fitzgerald, Antonio Bryant

TE - Mike Ditka (That's right :football: )

Now imagine, if you will, these skill players playing behind an offensive line that would consist of some combination of:

Russ Grimm, Mark May, Jimbo Covert, Ruben Brown, Bill Fralic, Jeff Christy, Mark Stepnoski, and Jim Sweeney

On the defense:

DL - Tony Siragusa, Bill Maas, Keith Hamilton

LB - Chris Doleman, Hugh Green, Rickey Jackson, Joe Schmidt (HOFer, for you young guys)

DB - Tim Lewis, Hank Poteat, Carlton Williamson, Steve Israel, Shawntae Spencer.

This team is admittedly a bit weak in the secondary, but it wouldn't matter because the offense would put up so many points.

ETA: Almost forgot.

Fred Cox (gotta have a kicker)

Marty Schottenheimer , Joe Walton and Dave Wannstedt (gotta have coaches)

Ralph Cindrich (players need an agent)
FOUND THE PROBLEM...

Mia gets all the attention because they put STARS in the NFL at a rate no other school can match.
No, Miami puts stars *AT RUNNINGBACK, TIGHT END, AND WIDE RECEIVER* in the NFL at a rate no other school can match. Coincidentally enough, those are perhaps the biggest positions in fantasy football. On defense, they churn out a ton of quality LBs and Safeties. Again, coincidentally enough, LBs and Safeties are the highest-scoring positions in IDP fantasy football. What star QBs has Miami produced? What star offensive Linemen has Miami produced? What star Defensive Linemen has Miami produced? Where are the star Cornerbacks? Heck, name three Miami offensive linemen who are even STARTING in the NFL (here's a hint: you can't).

The average fantasy fan is under the impression that Miami keeps churning out great players at every position, because Miami keeps churning out great players at every FANTASY position. Like I said, though... if you took a team of UF Alums currently in the NFL and matched it against a team of Miami Alums currently in the NFL, the UF team would smack Miami all over the field- mostly because Ken Dorsey would be playing QB and Frank Gore, Najeh Davenport, and Bubba Franks would all be playing offensive line (against Brown/Warren/Scott/Kearse, no less).
LBs and Ss down?
Bolded portion of my original post down?
Quality? That is all you are giving the S's and LBs from Mia? Come on. They have produced flat STUDS at both positions. Reed, Taylor, Lewis, Vilma, Williams..... That is ubber stars now at 8 starting positions (1 RB, 2 WRs, 3 LBs, 2 S's) on the football field! Not to mention that the CBs, Dline and Olines have to grade as above average. Really the only arguable weakness is QB. Granted that is a tough position to overcome, but given the surrounding talent, I'm thinking Vinny would do just fine.

QBs:Testaverde

Kelly

DL:

J. Brown

C. Kennedy

R. Maryland

W. Sapp

K. Lang

V. Wilfork

Oline:

L. Searcy

B. McKinnie

Now that I actually see the names of the Dlinemen. Mia easily puts up the best D. There are some serious studs on that list. I'd say taht there are now at least 11 studs on a Mia made team. 3 Dlinemen, 3 LBs, 2 Ss, 2 WRs, 1 RB. My lord, that is half the starters, what more do you want? To be honest, I think I was being harsh on Mia by not giving them 4 stud Dlinemen too.

Good link.

Michigan hasn't had much success at rb or wr, but it is a qb/ol factory.
A very recent happening. Until Jim Harbaugh, there was not a Michigan QB who threw an NFL touchdown ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. Now they have had Greise and Brady. Shoot, at one time Indiana had three starting QBs in the NFL and when they were at IU they weren't considered that great.
Fixed for accuracy. See Bo Schembchler's autobiography where Dierdorf makes that announcement during MNF while Bo is in a nationally ranked QB recruit's living room. I'm Benny Friedman, NFL Hall of Fame QB and Michigan alumnus, and I approve of this message.

Quality was a minimum-value judgement. I wasn't saying that all the LBs and Safeties produced by Miami were no better than quality guys, I was saying they were quality at worst. For instance, I think there are maybe 15 quality QBs in the NFL. Peyton Manning is one of them. That doesn't mean I'm saying that Peyton Manning is no better than, say, a Drew Brees... I'm just using quality as a minimum-value judgement.Geez, they sure do grow them defensive down in Miami, don't they?

You have no clue. I think I remember a decent LB that played there. What was his name? Ray Lewis. How about Warren Sapp, Jonathan Vilma,Sean Taylor, Dan Morgan.
