Simple enough poll. Growing up, I used to love watching movies. Now, I find I much prefer watching TV shows that I stream and don't enjoy sitting through an entire movie nearly as much as before. I think part of it is that the quality of TV shows now is much better and these shows have many of the characteristics that I like in movies but just broken up into episodes. Now, I watch maybe 1 movie a month and the the majority of my TV watching experience is live sports along with streaming TV shows.

So, which do you prefer?

To clarify: TV shows includes any series like Game of Thrones or Sopranos along with what you find on actual network TV.

TV shows slightly more. Drives me nuts when I go to my dad's. He'd rather watch some movie from 1995 that we've all seen before than most TV shows.

TV has gotten so good which is great.

A great movie is still my favorite. I am in the minority but love seeing them in full theater on opening weekend.

My biggest complaint is that movies get spoiled by internet stories and bad trailers that show us everything about the movie months before you get to see it.

I always love a great movie first and foremost. But premium television has changed the game big time.

Does anyone even watch the old guard (NBC, ABC, CBS) network television anymore? I know I have not for over 10 years now.

There's more talent in television than movies right now. The serial nature of most of the top shows make them more like 13+ movies (per season)....plus, television shows don't seem to be as hampered as movies by triangulating market demographics to get the highest profits.

Big Bang Theory is still must watch for the wife and me. She'll watch other stuff on the major networks. SHIELD, Gotham and a couple other shows get DVR'd. Otherwise it's netflix shows like Master of None and House of Cards.

I'll still enjoy a good movie, but we'll watch maybe 3 movies a month (at home, maybe 2 a year in the theater). So I guess I'll vote TV but both have their place.

That is a great show indeed. I watch it on syndication. I never followed that show till a year ago.

I like a great movie more than great TV. But TV produces much more quality these days (excluding network TV which is garbage).
This seems to be the general sentiment, and I don't disagree with it.

However, I have diverse taste in movies. I can appreciate a flawed horror movie that has original takes or an under-the-radar gem I stumble upon on Turner Classic.

And I have my guilty pleasure movies that I prefer to rewatch over most TV shows (in addition to Godfather I and II, which I do not consider guilty pleasure movies). Sorry if you don't like Die Hard 1 and 2, Ferris Bueller, Flash Gordon, The Last Dragon, the Kill Bill movies, The Blues Brothers or Rocky I-IV. May want to go to someone else's house if there are no good sports events on.

That said, I will also rewatch certain shows. Seinfeld and Curb are on the short list there.

20 minute TV programs are just about all I have time for anymore for watching closely... I did really enjoy Daredevil though.

Basically I have about 4-5 20 minute shows that I watch (The league, Always Sunny, Last week Tonight, Silicon Valley, Workaholics) then it's just Royals Baseball and Chiefs football.

Movies have gotten to the point where I either see it in the theater, or I'm probably not going to get around to it.

I miss TV and movies a little... but since kids, if I get any free time I just want to sleep or get some chores done... sadly.
