If for some horrible reason you were only able to watch one of the two championship games this weekend, which one would you watch?

Granted I'm a Pats :goodposting: , but I would figure the Pats/Chargers game would have a higher interest level for the casual NFL fan. Most people would watch the game from the "I want to see them go undefeated" or "I don't want to miss seeing them get knocked off" angle. As for Giants/Packers, I don't think the overall storyline attracts the casual fan. Now Packers/Cowboys would have been a different story and I would have voted for that, although Pats/Colts would have easily trumped it.

Better game - probably NY/GB

Better story - NE/SD

I think more people will be interested in the story.

This poll should be more a composite of the avid fan....being posted here at FBG......

As a neutral observer to all 4 teams remaining, I think the most interesting outcome will be Pats and Packers winning. A New England vs Green Bay (or rather Brady vs Manning) has the potential to be the best and most hyped SuperBowl in a VERY long time, with extremely compelling storylines. Brett Favre on his last legs... facing the greatest challenge of his career in the biggest game. And the Patriots, facing one last hurdle in their pursuit of glory, statistically the best QB of all time. Very intriguing...

For me I think the most compelling game this weekend will be the Giants/Packers game. It think it will be a close game with not so pleasent weather. Can Manning keep up playing like he has? Can the young Packers team led by a veteran QB (Favre) keep playing at a high level? This game just has the mark for a very good game to watch if you ask me. I think the Patriots/Chargers game is going to be over before it gets started with all the Chargers injuries. Sounds pretty boring to me.

The Chargers won't be bad injury wise. LT is fine, he was even close to going back in the game against Indy at some points. Rivers is a little hobbly but shouldn't be too bad. And Gates can't be any worse than he was last weekend.

Even though NE is looking for 18-0, I think people will find greater interest in the GB-NYG game.

There aren't many who believe that a banged up SD team can take down NE, but there are those who think that the Giants can take GB. The GB-NYG game also has: Favre (is this potentially his last game? many people want him to get another chance at a ring); and a game-time temperature of three degrees - which brings back the feel of old-time playoff football.

With Jacobs and Bradshaw, count me among those who think the Giants can win.

I dont like a few of the Giants player but would rather watch Favre play than what should be an easy win for New England

Tough one. I love watching Favre play. the guy has more fun than anyone.

The Chargers are going to get rolled in this game in my opinion. The first half will be fun to watch.

Very flawed poll.

Title: Which Game Has a Higher Interest Level?

Poll question: If you could only watch one of the two games this Sunday, which one would you watch?

I think these are two completely different questions, so the poll likely has people answering one or the other. I look at the title question as which is viewed as most interesting to the general public, which is going to be NE no matter what. The second one is which do we as viewers think will be the better game? In which case I think the obvious answer is GB/NYG. Now I know others will disagree with my choices, but for the most part, these are two VERY different questions and the poll results are going to be flawed due to the confusion.

You are not great at this. The question is one question phrased 2 different ways. 1. Which game has a higher interest level?...determined and evidenced by:2. If you could only watch one of the two games this Sunday, which one would you watch? It is as straightforward as can be.

How do you figure? Are you saying that my view is indicative of the nation as a whole? Really????

No, but 56% of avid fan's (ie. 140 FBG SPoolers) view is a barometer of the nation as a whole. Really.

I agree that the Giants/Packers game has a greater chance of being a nailbiter..plus watching games at Lambeau are fun (especially if snowing).

I'm more intrigued by the Pats/SD game. If SD can beat them, it would be probably one of the greatest upsets in history, and I want to make sure I watch it.

A barometer of what, what they think the nation views as the most interesting game? Or what they as avid fans would prefer to watch? Still two totally separate questions.

Loke, it is arguments like that that give the Shark Pool such a bad name. I am beginning to understand the derision.

I would think that most people would have a greater interest in the Pats losing than the Pack winning, but I guess I am wrong.

Patriots-Chargers by a mile. There's a reason why the networks tried to get the Patriots on national TV as much as possible towards the end - everyone wants to be there in case the "best team ever" gets beaten. The Patriots' close calls in recent weeks will only amp this.

Careful not to view the posters at FBGs are a barometer of anything. Pollsters try to survey a wide demographic, which this forum is far, far, from being.

If a large majority of responders would rather watch the Patriots game, then the Patriots game has the higher interest level. If a large majority of the responders would prefer to watch NYG-GB, then the NYG-GB game has the higher interest level.

In here, yes. Personally I would MUCH rather watch the GB/NYG game, and that is how I would answer the poll. But I don't think it is anywhere near the game with the highest interest level amongst the general public. In fact I doubt it's even close. The NE game will have much more viewership.

Whatever. Sorry if your ego is that fragile that me thinking your post was worded poorly causes you that much angst.

I guess I'd rather watch the Pats. There's a pretty good chance I won't watch either since football season ended last week.

I go into hiding the day FBG posters views are considered a barometer of the nation!

Take out the fanbases for all four teams...and I believe ratings will heavily favor the Chargers/Pats game. Watching Goliath fall is a great story...hopefully the Chargers can keep it close to keep the viewers tuned in...

OBVIOUSLY. And as already pointed out, the demographic polled here is that of the avid football fan. If I wanted to know what game arsonists were interested in, I would have gone to an arsonist forum. Respondents here are an excellent barometer of what game avid football fans have a more keen interest in watching.

The Giants at Packers game has the potential to be a very good contest. However there are several good playoff games each year, and usually at least one great playoff game every year if not more. The Chargers/Pats game however is a historic event regardless of how good a game it is. Either NE maintains it's incredible perfect streak or the Chargers produce one of THE huge upsets in NFL history. Even if Giants/Packers is a great game and the Chargers/Pats is average, one will be talked about for years to come whilst the other will be just another pretty good playoff game.

Besides, I think both will be fairly competitive and exciting to watch anyhow.

Huge Giants fan here, so I have to try and take that out of the equation.

For an NFL purist, I think the GB/Giants game is the one to watch. Should be a much closer contest, especially considering injuries to SD's three most important offense players. Add to that the ice bowl II aspect, and we could really see some old school playoff football.

Of course the CHANCE for NE to go down is hard to pass up - but the chance of them losing seems so remote, that for a true fan of football, the GB/Giants game is the way to go.

For a more casual observer, I would have to choose NE/SD. More scoring, "greatest team ever" thing going with the undefeated season, Brady, Moss, Belichick, LT2 and probably more scoring (mostly by NE in all likelihood).

Easily the Packers/Giants. I don't think New England has much chance of losing
Still, if you miss it and the Chargers win you just missed the game of your lifetime.
I guess that is the rub. GB/Giants has a FAR better chance to be a MUCH better game - closer, great weather, real old school football.Chances are if you choose NE/SD you are going to watch a dud of a game just waiting to see if NE can close out the perfect season in two weeks.BUT, if SD can cash its lottery ticket (and especially with the injuries, that's what they have in terms of their chance) then you will have missed the second greatest upset in NFL history.

Personaly I'm not a fan of the Patriots or the Chargers so I could care less if the Patriots go undefeated or not. So that game holds absolutly no special interest for me. I would rather watch what looks like to be the better game and to me that will be the Giants and Packers game. I think it will be a back and forth contest and a game I don't want to miss.

Not really.I voted NE as I feel that has the potential to be history making. After reading your OP I wish I had voted for GB as that is the game I would watch if I could only watch 1 game.

 Mine are fine. Thank you.

The only thing the Pats - Chargers game has going for it is the train wreck factor. The Chargers are a wreck and there is only a slim chance of the Pats train going off the track. The Packers - Giants game clearly has a lot more interesting story lines. The weather itself is enough of a curiosity factor to bring in a casual fan.

NE 34 - SD 10

GB 17 - NY 10
