Ministry of Pain

I like a lot of the WRs from the 2013 class, and several of them are getting a chance early in their career to prove their worth. Several of these guys look like they might have real careers here. Top 5 candidates? Not in this bunch but several of them could be top 20 long term dynasty prospects. In 2013 redraft leagues though, these guys are becoming relevant right now.

I know the money will be on Hopkins and then maybe Thompkins although you have to think there could be a slide in his targets once Gronkowski is in this line up. I like Keenan Allen's position right now as not much stands between him and the playing field. He has a veteran QB who gets hammered for not being elite, but he is a solid big arm QB who can make the throws needed so he is going to get the ball a lot and SD has a nice schedule in front of them, even games with Denver you want guys like Allen who can rack up some garbage time as well.

Robert Woods is an interesting guy, he seems ready to fill the WR2 spot in Buffalo for years to come. He could eventually be better than Stevie Johnson, time will tell. I also like Terrence Williams if Austin has to shut it down, even the WR3 in Dallas can have huge games as we have seen over the years.

I put Patterson and Austin in the group but don't believe they will see a lot of votes. I like both long term in dynasty, 2013 redraft they could make a lot more noise the 2nd half of the season.

What say you?

I still like Thompkins, maybe it's just that he's gotten the chance to earn a lot of playing time and has that chemistry with Brady, and for those of us Amendola or Gronk owners who are just wishful thinking....I don't know if Thompkins fades away from the game plan. If a ROS trade was offered for one of these guys on the list, I'd take Thompkins. And I don't own him in any league but wish I did.

I really like what I see from Woods, seems like his role is the least likely to change for the worse and he's carved out a decent slice of the pie so far.

If Minny's coaching staff becomes competent it should be Patterson

not expecting it to happen

I also like Thompkins, although I think it is a close race. Surprised to not see Justin Hunter in the conversation.

Is he making that much noise? I see a nice class of WR2 types. Eventually it is possible these guys could be the bonafide WR1 on their teams, Keenan Allen seems like he could because of the injuries there.

Probably Thompkins, then Woods.

Thompkins for obvious reasons (always go with a guy Brady likes), but I really like Woods' situation. Manuel seems to like him and he's got a worthy WR opposite him, but not somebody so talented that there won't be enough targets to go around.

I own Thompkins, just picked up Woods yesterday and dropped Hopkins for Jeffery. I voted Woods because I believe he is going to be high in the pecking order from here on, and will only get better as he develops his rapport with Manuel.

Once Gronk and Amendola come back, it's going to be the typical Patriots quagmire where a guy can go off or disappear in a given week depending on Belichick's game plan or just because he's pissed at a player that week. I still like Thompkins but not sure I can trust him week to week once everyone is healthy.

I liked Hopkins and targeted him in my draft. Was thrilled to get him. But it just seems like more of the same from the Texans -- run first, TDs go to the tight ends or RBs, Andre is the #1 outside threat most of the time and the number 2 guy may or may not be relevant in a given week. Hopkins is just their latest Kevin Walter or Jacoby Jones. I'm sure the numbers will be respectable at the end of the season but he'll give you fits as you try to figure out which guy to insert as your WR3 each week.

Interesting poll. I like this class of receivers. There may be no Calvins or AJ Greens, but there are a number of quality receivers who could make an impact. I would love to also see the group's opinion on this class of wideouts looking beyond 2013. Beyond those listed, we have also seen Justin Hunter flash his skills, Marlon Brown is making a mark, Quinton Patton could emerge, Kenny Stills, Markus Wheaton, Dobson/Boyce, Ace Sanders, Stedman Bailey, Marquise Goodwin (I have probably forgotten someone) all look like decent receivers who could contribute.

Every week that Gronk misses pushes this more-and-more towards Thompkins IMO... but it looks like the two rookies in Buffalo got something cooking as well.

I voted Woods, by a hair.

Not that I'd vote for him, but seems like Marlon Brown should be one of those choices, since he's leading all rookies in td's.

I think Thompkins. He's getting it together now and I think bringing back Gronk and Amendola will actually help open him up. Hopkins should have a good year too. His hands are incredible. Woods, eh? Good future prospect but he still plays for the Bills with Manuel throwing to him. Thompkins and Hopkins are both in much better situations.

No Justin Hunter? Two catches... 2TDs :)
While I presume this post is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, I think Hunter becomes very interesting if Britt gets traded or any of the other Titan WRs get injured. He seems to have good hands, great speed and excellent height/jump. If he can add some muscle, he could start looking like Tennessee's #1 WR.

It was tongue in cheek but then again, Terrance Williams is on the list so Hunter should at least get consideration if Britt fades away.

If the guy who had Thompkins on his team offered him to me straight up for DeAndre, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

I suspect Keenan Allen would now be the front runner in such a poll. What a difference a week or two can make.
