White Sox 2011 Baseball (2 Viewers)

LUKE HUGHES? LUKE #######G HUGHES????????????????????? The Twins can put a blind folded monkey on the mound tossing out beachballs and the Sox would lose. What a nightmare!

The dude is a rookie, but he has major promise. The Twins are turning things around big time and the Sox were in the line of fire.

How many farm system guys do they have in the bigs? No matter they keep owning the Sox.

Good win for the Sox. Typical Twins bullpen implosion this year. The Twins do have a lot of guys that are up from the farm because of injuries ect, but they are good enough with the fundamentals to give the Sox the typical death by smallball. I can't believe they didn't let Perkins pitch to Quentin. Nothing like the roller coaster that is baseball.

I haven't seen any White Sox games this year, but whats the story with Rios? Has his swing changed, a bad first half slump? Does he look different at the plate then he did last year?

Should be a good series finale today. Baby Jesus Joe doesn't have to catch today, so maybe you wont get so lucky and have him go 0-4......maybe

EDIT: I hate to think for a second about one July game in the sea of a baseball season, but this could be a very big game.

Ohh the roller coaster ride of emotions w the Sox this here has been a rough ride. On paper they look like a team that should be at least 8-12 games over .500. We know- that's why they play the games but the losses have been mostly due to a lack of focus, implosions and a lousy offense. Small Ball? they called that Ozzie ball in Chicago and the Sox won it all that year. Around here Ozzie ball is mocked and ridiculed but softball big bomber baseball is getting the Sox zippo...

Rios appears to be an overrated player to me. I view him as a guy that got his big pay day and now he is just dialing it in. Apparantly, he raised his hands up but I think that he has this big loopy swing and he tends to ground out to third base and does not DRIVE the ball. His stance is the same as last year. Rios is the type of player that looks to have all the tools to be an MVP type of candidate but he does not have dominating streaks and lacks consistency especially at the plate. This guy should be a .280- .310 hitter with 15 HRs and 35 plus RBIs at this point. His defense is spotty but he can really bring it when he is focused but I just do not see all out hustle from him at points. The key (and this is asking a lot) to any type of hope for the Sox to win the AL Central is for Rios, Dunn and Beckham to post consistent offensive numbers. Tall order...

It looks as if the Twins just need to get their big guns back and rip up their division games. We seem to have the Tribe's number. The Twins have our number. Detroit might have the Twins number and KC is playing spoiler. IE- the division is wide open contrary to what the EXPERTS think about the Tribe fading away...

Castro- broken right hand. Might end his season. Flowers on the way up.
Unfortunate for Castro because I like him as a once or twice a week player, but one they finally throw in the towel on this year it will be nice to see some of the guys in the Minors (Flowers/Danks/etc...) get some playing time.

:goodposting: I was a big fan of the Rios deal because he had a few good years for the Jays and had all the tools, but I agree he does seem like he has packed it in now. He was even benched a few weeks ago for not not hustling. At this point I could care less if they hustled him the hell out of town.

He played great last year when he had something to prove after being chased out of Toronto. Now that he proved he can be a really good player, he just doesn't give 100%. I don't want guys like that on my team.

Looks like Peavey is going to have another lousy outing.
His location looked great until Rios threw that ball to home instead of third where they probably would have got Nishi and the inning is over.
Not quite the issue. Peavey is now an avergae MLB starter.

LOL- Kenny Williams rolling around on his bike at 1 am wondering how it all went wrong. Too many risks and no contingency plans. Is it plausible for the team to just cut Rios and try to get a CF in a trade? Is it worth sending Lilly or Morel down and bring up DV? What can you do with Peavey? Put him on the DL and move him to the pen once he comes back and Danks is healthy and move someone in the bullpen to acquire a CF? This is about as bad as it can get for Kenny. Too many risks and not enough contingencies. I know that they are going to end up eating a lot of contracts. If only Kenny would have pedaled away a few years ago. Looks like we are no longer in Kansas folks...

I was there in the upper left field stands right against the back wall next to one of those arch windows. We were able to see the Chicago police riot crew on horse back lining up to move in and that is when we knew that things were going to get ugly fast. During the first game, people were climbing up the vertical gutters and crawling into the stands through these windows. People were whipping records (45s and 38s) at Ron LeFlore who came out wearing a batting helmet. They should have cancelled both games after the 3rd inning of the first game. I must say that it would have been a great stage for a John Hughes type movie- teenagers in angst going out to Disco Demoltion.

Might be the beginning of the end. Verlander in game one. It is quite obvious that the Sox are looking at being 7 or 8 out by the end of the series. The Sox need a sweep or 2 of 3 but I am not seeing it and just like last year- they have the Red Sox, Yankees and a sprinkling of games with KC and the Twins on the heels of IL play. They are doomed. The only hope we have is for the NFL strike to end.

C'moooon I need the Sox to at least play spoiler ;)I'm kinda shocked by the play of the CWS, but you've summed it up perfectly in this thread what's going on. I really expected to see a split in that last series. What ever happened to Peavy? I guess the more I think about it, I think the last weeks game against us was the first time Peavy even faced the Twins...spose that may have something to do with it lol.

Not at all. The Sox received damaged goods with peavey and he is filled with bravado. He is not the same pitcher. maybe he can cop the same excuse as Dunn- moving from one leage to another is just earth shattering. This team is soft as marshmellows in the sun and as far as the Twins are concerned- they might not get past Detroit. The Twins MUST win as many division games as they can and get all their studs healthy. They have a shot. If they can win the division they just might get smoked by the Yankees again...

Sox have always hit Verlander well, now let's see what they can do against ####ty pitching!
This is the agony of this team- they come out and sweep the Red Sox, split 4 with the Yankees and then they collapse against the Royals and get pantsed by the AAA Twins. Just mind boggling and PLEASE just cut Alex Rios. Take your losses now. Put Louie the center field hot dawg vendor out there for all I care but this guy is done and Kenny Williams in on the hook for that disaster...

IIRC, Rios was the final out in at least three innings last night with people on base.

Jackson spanks his former team today.

Tigers in typical second half performance losing again, there second half record is crazy

Sox look like the real deal going forward

Amazing. This team just plays like poop all year and now they decide to kick it in gear. Let's see what happens by the end of July...

Yup.They look like a team that has given up on Ozzie and then they play their ### off for him.I don't get it.

 They win 2 games in a row and this is what you assume?
What do you want to call it? What does anyone assume with this team? No one can figure this mess out. They limp into Detroit after losing 3 of 4 to the Twins and 2 of 3 to KC at home to close out the "first half" playing a Tiger team that has just owned the Sox this year.

The Tigers own one of the top offenses in the league and throw their ace at the Sox and they smoke him and then turn around and get a shut out last night. I assume that by kicking it in gear that the Sox are showing minimal signs of life. They can sweep the Tigers and then lose their next series to KC. They can look like the team that most Sox fans thought they were getting and then they can look like the meandering bums that have made watching the Sox a miserable experience. A sweep in Detroit goes a long way and any Sox fan that tells you that they knew it was coming is full of beans.

The Tigers? What do you call this team? Why are they not running away with the division? Is Verlander all they really have in the SR? This is a division that no one wants to win w the exception of the Indians- a team that no one thought had a chance.

Sucks the win is gone for Danks. If they lose this game they deserve it though. Grounding into 4 double plays in 7 innings? Just unacceptable.

#### this team.
This division is ####### terrible and the ### #### twins are right in it because everyone else sucks. When the White Sox hit, they forget to pitch and when the Tigers pitch they forget to hit. Or they lose 15-3, I have no idea what to expect but I feel your pain. I'm not getting sucked into this like I have in the past until September, I got mad tonight then laughed it off.
