White Sox 2011 Baseball (1 Viewer)

•Slumping White Sox slugger Adam Dunn told Yahoo's Jeff Passan that he has contemplated quitting the game, though he can't imagine actually doing so. "I enjoy playing," Dunn said. "Even though I suck. Or have been sucking. I enjoy playing the game. Love it. But as soon as I lose that, I’m gone, dude. It’s true."

Ya. You'll be missed

The way this nightmare is going- the Sox will sweep the Tribe or take 2 of 3 and then go back to being the dummies they have been all year long. I think they had the same situation last year- division games and then the Red Sox and Yankees and it was light's out before August. Based on Ozzie's comments, Coop hanging up on the Score and Dunn's comments- the Titanic has hit the iceberg...

What happened with Coop? I didn't hear about this.

Muley and Hanley were interviewing him. They asked him about DV and if he thought that DV would pump some life into the offense and he got all rattled and gave them some rant about how dare they ask him about bringing up a player when he was only a coach and then he hung up on them.

Alex Rios' .565 OPS is the worst amongst all qualified players in baseball this season.

Truly stunning for a player that reached base at a clip of .334 while slugging .457 a season ago. It would obviously be far from surprising if Rios finally turns things around at some point this summer, but he has absolutely no business being in any mixed-league lineups right now.

Adam Dunn (sore knee) is expected to return to the White Sox lineup on Friday.

Good news? Dunn's .588 OPS is the second worst in all of baseball, trailing only teammate Alex Rios' shockingly bad .565 number. Hitting .031 against lefties this season, Dunn is batting .158 on the year, .121 since June 1 and .100 since July 1.

Just brutal! Dunn w a sore knee? Well we know it wasn't from a HR trot. The Sox do have solid pitching and they seem to play the Tribe well. At least they have that going for them.

Typical White Sox bull####.

First two guys walk and not a damn thing to show for it.

Glad Dunn's hitting fourth to come through in these situations.

FIRE OZZIE!

You can almost see it coming. They will sweep the Tribe and only be 2 back. Right when you think these guys are about to roll they suddenly put up a string of clunkers. You can set your watch to it.

I just do not understand why Morel is on this team. They pay Teahen a king's ransom and have Omar to back him up and the Sox are just desperate to bring up DV. Send Morel down now and put Q at DH and DV in right and tell Dunn to sit in the corner.

6-1 vs the Tribe this year and paltry to bad vs the rest of the division. They have a dismal home record and now comes the most important home series of the year. Perhaps one of many milestones on the year. A .500 or below is not going to get them anything. Of course, the way it is going this year, they will take 2 of 3 from the Tigers and then they will take a beating from the Red Sox and Yankees and some how they will be 4.5 games out this time next week. I would have to say that the next Peavey outing will be critical if the Sox can win tonight.

Hanging on by the skin of their teeth. If the bullpen blows this one it will be a tough one to swallow. I think that it is safe to say that the Twins are done. Check out the box on their game with the Rangers.

Atta boy Paulie! Pick it up and get back in the MVP race to help pick up the slack from that bust Dunn! We need the ball to go out of the park!

WTF? Stone says Peavy starts having trouble around pitch 90. So what happens? He starts getting shelled right around pitch 90. Yet they don't have someone already warming up. And he gives up about five hits in a row and surrenders the lead. All while Ozzie stands there looking like it has taken him by surprise.

What a bummer- this is a game that they are throwing in the tank. This bullpen just cannot seem to hold important games and now down 5-4 in the 8th. This team needs to prove that they can come back and win late #######G NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tigers have left the bases loaded twice and Peavy is ####### terrible. Shouldn't even be a game. Can't believe Ozzie used Crain after the guy threw 30+ pitches last night, and the fact the Tigers have owned that guy.

Today's lineup features Alejandro De Aza batting 8th and playing CF.

Alex Rios, here's the bench. I hope your stay is a long one.

Dunn hits HR off Verlander fastball and then strikes out three times in a row on off speed pitches.

GREAT ADJUSTMENTS ADAM!!!!

The Blue Jays acquired starter Edwin Jackson and third baseman Mark Teahen from the White Sox for reliever Jason Frasor and starter Zach Stewart, tweets Mark Gonzalez of the Chicago Tribune. The deal also includes a cash exchange of more than $1MM.

Trades are commonplace for Jackson, who was dealt for the fifth time in his career. The surprising part is that the Blue Jays, 11 games out in the wild card, acquired the impending free agent. Speculation is that Jackson may be flipped, possibly to the Cardinals. Jackson, 27, has a 3.92 ERA, 7.2 K/9, 2.9 BB/9, 0.59 HR/9 and 46.9% groundball rate in 121 2/3 innings this season, making him one of the better starters available. The Scott Boras client will head to free agency after the season most likely as a Type B. He has about $2.9MM remaining on his contract this year.

Teahen is regarded as a salary dump, with almost $7.2MM remaining on his contract through 2012. The 29-year-old is hitting .203/.277/.305 in 130 plate appearances this year, and is another example of Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos taking on a bad contract to get a deal done. It was reported yesterday that White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf wanted to trim payroll.

Frasor, the Blue Jays' franchise leader in appearances with 455, has a 2.98 ERA, 7.8 K/9, 3.2 BB/9, 0.85 HR/9, and 40.2% groundball rate this year. The 33-year-old Oak Forest, Illinois native has about $1.2MM remaining on his contract this year, plus a $3.75MM club option for 2012. If the option is declined, Frasor will likely be a Type B free agent. He's a fine addition to any team's bullpen, though the Sox already rank third in the AL with a 3.33 bullpen ERA.

Stewart, 24, ranked 44th among Keith Law's top 100 prospects prior to the season. Stewart, who Law said has number two starter potential, posted a 4.20 ERA, 7.1 K/9, 2.6 BB/9, and 0.6 HR/9 in 94 1/3 innings this year at Double-A.

I might be reading too much into this, but.....

With mumblings that Toronto's going to ship EJAX to STL for Rasmus, I think this deal symbolizes the end of Ozzie in Chicago and LaRussa will be here next year.

I've heard it a few times on the radio, read it a few times on the innerwebs. Especially with the Rasmus / EJAX talk over the last few days.

How? Why? Explain it to me like I'm Master of Orion.

Also argue with him like you're arguing with Strikes2k just to make this as interesting as possible. Please circumvent the language filter if this helps your cause. TIA.

Like I said, I might be reading too much into this, but....Mumbles about TLR coming here next year. Don't know if they're true, don't know the origins, but if they don't win the division this year, I think changes are coming. Jerry and TLR have supposedly maintained a great relationship over the years and this isn't the first time his name has been mentioned in coming back to Chicago. TLR is in the last year of his contract in STL. Are you staying if Pujols is leaving? I'm not.

The guy in Florida supposedly wants Ozzie bad, so there's the Ozzie out. I think you can technically even trade the guy ala Gruden going to TB in the NFL.

So back to Rasmus....

Why is Rasmus getting traded? Because TLR can't stand the kid.

Who needs a CF? The White Sox do

So why wouldn't the White Sox just trade EJAX for Rasmus then? Because if the Sox are thinking of getting TLR next year, why would TLR want the problem he just got rid of?

Yes, I'm reading too much into this.

Go back to the Tiger thread, damnit!

Kenny Williams>We're dumping salary. Oh, yeah. We're still trying to win, too. So keep coming out to the ball park #####es.
