White Sox 2011 Baseball (1 Viewer)

Freddy Garcia hasn't thrown a pitch since last June. He finshed last season with a 1-5 record in 11 starts with an ERA in the shadow of 6.00.

Gavin Floyd just went no-no for 8 1/3. 2nd time this season he's gone 7+ to start a game without allowing a hit. And he's sitting at 3-1 with a ERA under 3.00

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brandon McCarthy hasn't thrown a pitch since September. He finished last year with a 5-10 record and an ERA of 4.87. Barely averaged a 1/2 K per inning and his K/BB ratio was damn close to even.

John Danks is a hard luck 2-3 with a 3.15 ERA and Nick Masset has been a servicable middle relief guy.

Someone remind me again how much Kenny Williams sucks.

Here we go again with this guy- maybe someone should remind you about 2007. And while we are talking about 2008- isn't it Kenny who gave all these middle of the road middle of the lineup players fat contracts? Some of them have no trade clauses? There is a lot to be happy about with Floyd, Q and Javi- BUT he will also take credit for the rest of the team and the last I checked this lineup has a lot of work to do if the Sox are going to contend. Funny how a one win game can erase the memory of an awful road trip and an awful 2007 season. With all this great pitching your boy put together why is the club looking up at the Twins? Why is this club sniffing the bottom of the barrel with team average? Why is our bench a joke and CLEARLY the type of bench that would not even stand a chance to carry the Sox into the playoffs let alone thru the playoffs? Kenny Williams and Ozzie are going to get a free pass for many years for 2005. He gets credit for making a lot of moves. Some things work and some things still stink like crap. So- here's the deal- it is clear that Kenny needs to go out and FIX some things in this lineup. This will shut me up for good on Kenny. If he can make those moves by the trade deadline and get this team to the post season I will digress and rip him no more. If he cannot then it is just another lost season and it is the fault of the GM.

Kenny Williams is the best GM in chicago.

and not since yesterday but for a while, and nothing has changed.

thanks to kenny we have 2/5ths of our rotation for a long time via a great trade. he signed Buehrle and Vazquez and at the time he was getting a lot of heat for it.

looks like the sox will have the starting pitching all year, unless some kind of injury happens, but any team can get hurt you cant plan that to an extent. and the pen is doing a nice job.

they just need an offense to be middle of the road.

this kind of pitching makes solo HRs not anoying.

Pitching and defense wins what?

Well when looking at comparing him to any of the Cub GMs there is no debate BUT is he the best GM in MLB? The AL? The AL central? He might have 2/5ths but that is only 2 players and Buehrle is not exactly going to go out and sniff 20 wins anytime soon. I was as happy as the next Sox fan that he was signed but he can take a beating when he is off his game. The pen looks solid this year and the starters are obviously awesome but if you cannot score runs you lose a lot of games so if pitching and defense wins championships what happened last week when we were looking at some solid pitching? The bottom line here is the GM is responsible for the entire team. If I can recall- all Ozzie asked for was more speed for 2008. Did that happen? Kenny has done some good but if we are looking at 6 game losing streaks on the road because we cannot get any hits all the pitching and defense in the world will not save any team. No runs no wins but let's see what happens.

Hitting can be found quite easily, but the contracts of over the hill guys like Konerko/Thome/Dye will make it hard. With that being said, the pitching staff looks excellent from 1 to 5, and that is more than pretty much every other team in the league can say...

Plus- who else can load the clubhouse with blow up swag like the Sox can? Something tells me that was Swish's work!

in todays game will see how Ramirez does leading off.

Ramirez SS

Quentin LF

Thome DH

Konerko 1B

Dye RF

Swisher CF

Crede 3B

Uribe 2B

Hall C

Anyone else see the "double steal" in the bottom of the 6th today?

3-1 count to Konerko men on 1st and 2nd, checked swing and he starts to trot towards 1st and the other runners move up. After 2-3 seconds Mauer asks for an appeal on the swing. 1B ump calls a strike, however at that point both runners had advanced to 2nd and 3rd.

Missed that... just started watching a couple of minutes ago.And what kind of BS is going on that you've been changed to FDAS?

Vazquez/Swisher commercial, with signs, where Swisher shoots his gun/fingers after a Vazquez strike out.........this guy is good, he doesn't even need a glove

dumb commercials.

The entire ad campaign is pretty dumb—some of those badly photoshopped Sox fan crowd shots on the L barely make sense.

a few times i stepped away from the TV and the commercial comes on but i don't know since in in another room. and then I hear hawk with the HR call, so i think this is in the game and they are back. so I run it like a goof thinking this is going on live.

this happened 2 times already.

Dam you brooks

It's the Sox out west, so who the hell knows what will happen.

Considering Seattle, who's been terrible, and San Fran make up the majority of the trip, I'd like to think that 6-4 is possible.

Huh?Am I the only one who noticed how often Gavin Floyd goes to his hat? He only seems to do it when he's going to throw an off speed pitch. He's also wiping something off on his pants after every pitch.......looked a little strange.

Hand to hat, to ball, and then to pants.......and all over again.

It's not strange for a pitcher to fix his cap, but Floyd seemed to be moving his pointer finger over the bill of his cap.

Did anyone else catch this?

It didn't seem to help him, what ever he was doing. But it sure looked odd.

It's okay to call me the crazy Cub fan.

Konerko is pretty bad right now to but seems to be coming around a bit, Thome is just a k machine. We can't have this guy hitting 3rd. He kills rallys.

As a Quentin AND Thome owner following online, that was pretty f'n sweet. I didn't realize that's how it went down though.

2/3 to start the roadie. Off to LA, where they never win. :kicksrock:
I was listening to an interview with Coop and he said that the Sox play decent w the Angels. It is the A's that kick us in the nutz! But then again- if we keep leaving RISP we are not going to win that many games!

Um, no its not even close to the same thing.

Orlando Crapbrera realllllllllly sucks.
I'm stuck starting his inept ### because of Furcal being hurt.Let's not leave Uribe and Crede out of this. They might have had decent nights at the plate, but their fielding miscues cost the Sox 7-8 runs tonight.
